Sue was such a nice host. She had the extension cord, water hose and a table cloth spread out on the picnic table before we arrived plus a treat for our dog. Do bring bug spray because the mosquitos were bad once the sun went down. Since the site is very close to US 301 bridge over the Chester River, there is a fair amount of road noise which did quiet down by 9 pm.

This place is awesome!! Extremely convenient camp site right next to the little walkway to the river. Big fire ring and seemingly endless brush piles to forrage kindle and smaller diameter wood from. Unfortunately did not get to take advantage of the canoe but there is always next time. Sue is an awesome host who greeted me with a smiling face and showed me everything I needed to know about the site, even allowed me to use some slate rock she had lying around to level my van out with. Outdoor shower, toilet, electrical hookup, and pretty much everything else was nice quality. For sure will be back!

Canoeing Sue’s was a great place to camp for a weekend. She had everything we needed to make our trip more comfortable and fun. Canoeing on the river was definitely the highlight of the trip and I’m so glad we got that opportunity! Sue is an excellent host and great to talk with. We hope to return soon!

Absolutely fantastic host! So generous and kind and welcoming.. Can't recommend her enough. Left us to our own devices but also checked in with us because it was raining on the night we stayed. Thank you Sue!

Canoein' Sue's site is great. She was super communicative, leading up to our stay, and, when we showed up, she had started a fire for us and was ready to greet us. She offers up a big piece of her property, and the shower and toilet situation is solid. The river is a short walk (~100 feet) from the campsite. Great experience. Thanks, Sue!

TLDR: This place is awesome! Check it out for sure!!!

Long Version... This place is awesome! Check it out for sure!!!

Natural Surroundings:
The campsite is like 45 seconds (walking) from an extremely beuatiful oasis of a river that felt (to me) like the Amazon! Besides the occasional house along the banks, and the occasional sound of cars passing on the local highway, it feels 100% natural and lightyears away from civilization. There are bald eagles (for real!) and other murderous birds and swampy plants and green as far as the eye can see. Swimming, apparently, is "iffy" at times, depending on tides and run off and things I don't understand. I swam each day, but the river itself is more of a canoe/ paddle/ kayak heaven than a swimer's paradise. So, I'd suggest you go if you like floaty vehicles!

Campsite:
To be clear, the "campsite" is Sue's front yard. Her yard is lovely and it's the size of my entire apartment building, but it's still her yard. So... if you want a trip where you don't see antoher human for the entire stay, look elsewhere. This is a great site, but it doesn't feel like you've escaped modern life per se. For us, this was kinda perfect. There was a hose/ shower thing and Sue's house was closeby in the event I cut my leg off or my tent caught on fire and it was pouring out. Also, you can park like 6 inches from your tent, so that's a plus. to be clear, proximity to the house was never an inconveninece (we could hear the dogs at times, but usually that was barking at our dog, so joke's on us!). In addition to the hose shower thing (which was SUPER awesome!), there's a firepit, an outhouse tent, a few trees (for hammocks), and not much else. There's some "light pollution", and you occasinoally hear a car passing by, but otherwise, it feels more like a campground than a yard. Also, the area is flat, grassy, and relatively stone/ twig free, so tent setup was easy.

Host:
I can't say enough about Sue! We (usually don't like anyone!) loved her!!! She made us feel super at home, she never invaded the campsight/ violated our privacy, but she was always "available" via app chat function, and she was super helpful. I bothered her each day for swiming and tide conditions and she was responsive and helpful. Due to an "unexpected monthly guest?" we needed hygenic supplies and Sue offered some up. We even fenagled (not her usual, but a =n added perk) her into a river tour (via kayak), which was so so awesome! She will definitely stay out of your hair if that's your preference, but if you wanna make a friend, Sue might just be that friend! Finally, if you have a super reactive dog (like us), you'll appreciate Sue's patience, love, and generoisty with four-legged friends! She was a really nice host to Bella as well!!

So... check this spot out!

great trees for shady cool tents and hammock hanging. This kept us cool until about noon each day. If you have food bins, keep them on the benches- that'll provide shade in the AM.

Camped with a 20' pop up trailer and a small 2 person tent. Plenty of room to sprawl and one large tree with some shade. Definitely would recommend paying the extra for the canoe - it's just a few feet from the camping area! Sue (the host) made sure we were comfortable and settled in and went above and beyond to make sure we were OK during our stay (which was during a crazy heat wave). She also responded to messages within minutes before, during, and after our stay. We were there in June and there were lots of frogs around to keep the kids pre-occupied. We hope to come back and would highly recommend this place!
