Tucked among mature pines and hemlocks, projecting out over the edge of Cobbossee Stream, this off-grid (with solar) rustic cabin offers visitors an escape to nature in the Maine woods. The cabin is situated within the conserved 108-acre Wakefield Wildlife Sanctuary. While the setting feels remote, it is remarkably central to many of Maine’s most popular attractions. The Kennebec Land Trust operates this cabin and can guide you to other nearby conserved lands for recreation.
Recently renovated by Maine Cabin Masters, the Eco-Cabins are professionally and artfully crafted.
Cobbossee Stream is famous for its fishing, and at more than sixty feet deep it makes for wonderful swimming and recreation.
The cabins are self-service and require a short hike from the parking area down a gravel road (luggage cart provided). This is one of two cabins on the property. Both have solar electric for lights, small plug loads and to run a greywater pump. Both have propane fireplaces for warmth, propane range, composting toilet, and a sink with hand-pump for non-potable water uses.
A small dock and canoes are available for use on the wide and deep flatwater stream!

The Wakefield Eco-Cabins are an absolute dream. Beautiful and secluded property, on the magical Cobbosseecontee stream, it provides the best of the Maine outdoors while also being centrally located and ideal for day trips. Our group enjoyed the canoes, paddling alongside beavers and Kingfishers, while listening to the loons at night. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an escape to nature.
