This is a working, solar powered homestead, totally off-grid with chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys. Available to you is fresh eggs, greenhouse vegetables and garden vegetables that you pick yourself to enjoy while you are here. There is an Artesian spring-fed 2 acre pond for fishing (catch and release only). Semi secluded tent sites are not very far from an outhouse furnished with flush toilet and a sink with fresh running water. All tent sites have a fire pit and a picnic table. Enjoy hiking trails or forge off into the woods to explore on this beautiful 25 acre homestead. Sit and relax by the pond while watching for beavers, raccoons, blue heron and even eagles! Listen to the babbling of the Artisian spring where the ice cold water is pumped to the homestead by solar power. Blueberries, wild strawberries and blackberries are fun to look for and eat. Enjoy the cool nights while star gazing, watching fireflies and listening to the frogs and owls. Watch the operation of a working sawmill, learn to tie flies and how to fly fish. In the future there will be blacksmithing demos and classes, art (painting) classes and nature photography classes. There will be a nominal fee for classes. Only minutes away is Home Depot, Walmart, restaurants, shopping, Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, antique shops, Historic Downtown Ellsworth and the OCEAN!!

Mike and Cheryl's place is lovely, and so are they. We loved walking around the pond, hanging out with the duck and goose families, getting a few fresh eggs for our breakfast, and talking to them. Our site, #1, was easy to access and was quiet and beautiful.

Mike and Cheryl were such gracious hosts and overall amazing people - and their property is an oasis. Natural spring water fills a beautiful pond with ducks, geese and other wildlife. All the grounds are very well kept by the two of them alone. Firewood is available and the campsites were perfect. There’s a bountiful garden and chicken coop where Mike invited us to pick fresh vegetables and eggs.
We didn’t have great luck with weather but we wouldn’t have traded the experience for anything else. 20 mins from Mount Desert island, it’s a really great location. We will definitely be coming back.
Thanks to Mike and Cheryl for the amazing experience.
Mike's land is beautiful! It was a wonderful place to camp and I would love to go back again in the future.

Hiking trails, friendly wildlife (the ducks will love you!), amazing views rain or shine, canoeing, and more! Loved it at all & can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in Maine. We also met their pup, Zeus, which was a great treat! Firewood is on site as well and available 24/7 (and it’s well priced!)
True Serendipity Homestead is a special place. We appreciated the care that Mike and Cheryl put into the land and the time they took to show us the grounds and share their story. Even though we got rained out and needed to end our trip a day early, we had an amazing time camping at this peaceful retreat. We stayed in camp site 5 which is more secluded and tucked away among the trees. We had visits from the duck and geese families throughout our stay which was a really special treat! And the chickens were so cool to see. We enjoyed some eggs during our stay. The outhouse was extremely clean and the artesian spring was very convenient. Mike and Cheryl's homestead will be the reason I return to Maine. 💜

Great spot for camping. Spots were spaced preety far apart so you don’t feel like you’re on top of anyone. Beautiful piece of property. And mike was super nice and gave us a tour of the homestead.
Mike and Cheryl are great hosts! The camping spot was nice and quiet and the area is gorgeous. As a solo female traveler I felt very safe.
This was a beautiful and low-key site close to Ellsworth and Acadia National park! It was also on the way to the Schoodic Peninsula, so I used the opportunity to hike there. Friendly and kind hosts!
