Great setup with plenty of space for tents, a couple of benches, table, and chair. Close access to outhouse. The land is beautiful and quiet with sounds of nature all around.
Howling Woods was a great stay! The description from the hosts is spot on and the extra directions were helpful. Although there are neighbors at the beginning of the drive, the site feels well off the beaten path, but an easy drive to all areas of Mt Desert Island.
I felt better when I found out that the hosts live much further up the drive than the first building, so we didn't disturb their family.
There are a few other sites on the property, but we only ran into them at the shared parking area. The host was very responsive when we called to ask about extending our stay. One note that may apply to some groups: there is very little cell service on the island in general and was the same for this site. One other good thing, we felt very secure in leaving our campsite set up for multiple days/nights without worry of theft/vandalism.
I love it. Did not get the chance to talk to either Candace or Brendan but we did enjoy our stay, especially much more during the last day when all the goats from the farm were running around. Came to the place with the logs already there with the fire starter and really appreciate it. Cannot be happier.
The pond and footbridges were very charming, and we loved listening to the spring peepers at night. Brendan was very helpful with bringing over the firewood we’d requested with our reservation.
I love being in the woods so this was exactly what I needed. Very private, woodsy campsite.
Great hosts and great spot. So convenient to Acadia when the park’s camping was closed for the season. Would totally stay again.
We loved staying here! It’s super close to all the major hikes in Acadia NP. Definitely recommend taking a tour of the farm and getting to learn about their cute animals.
Great place. Enjoyed our stay.
Recently did a trip to Acadia with a group of 6 friends + 1 pup and this was the perfect campsite for us! It’s nestled in a wooded area, but still had plenty of room for three tents and space to set up camp chairs around the fire pit. It’s on the opposite side of the park from Cadillac Mountain and some of the other more popular trails, but still an easy drive. Highly recommend!
