ATTENTION: SITES 1,2,3 PARKING IS BESIDE THE TENT SITE.

ATTENTION: SITES 4 and 5 ARE SHORT HIKES INTO THE WOODS (you would have to carry your camping gear to the site).

This is a working, solar powered homestead, totally off-grid with chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys. Available to you is fresh eggs, greenhouse vegetables and garden vegetables that you pick yourself to enjoy while you are here. There is an Artesian spring-fed 2 acre pond for fishing (catch and release only). Semi secluded tent sites are not very far from an outhouse furnished with flush toilet and a sink with fresh running water. All tent sites have a fire pit and a picnic table. Enjoy hiking trails or forge off into the woods to explore on this beautiful 25 acre homestead. Sit and relax by the pond while watching for beavers, raccoons, blue heron and even eagles! Listen to the babbling of the Artisian spring where the ice cold water is pumped to the homestead by solar power. Blueberries, wild strawberries and blackberries are fun to look for and eat. Enjoy the cool nights while star gazing, watching fireflies and listening to the frogs and owls. Watch the operation of a working sawmill, learn to tie flies and how to fly fish. In the future there will be blacksmithing demos and classes, art (painting) classes and nature photography classes. There will be a nominal fee for classes. Only minutes away is Home Depot, Walmart, restaurants, shopping, Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, antique shops, Historic Downtown Ellsworth and the OCEAN!!

Mike and Cheryl were gracious hosts. The property is well maintained and beautiful, especially the pond and their handmade house! We stayed at site 3 and loved it. They were very kind and helpful with anything we needed. The camp is within 30 min of Acadia so easy access to lots of adventure. Cannot wait to come back and take the classes they plan on teaching soon!

True Serendipity is a magical place! My husband and I spend 4 nights at the farm. Both Mike and Cheryl were warm and welcoming. Their land is as beautiful as it is peaceful. They let us take some fresh eggs in the morning from their chicken coop which were delicious and highly appreciated. Campsite 4 was super private and quiet- nothing but the sound of the wind (and a few owls) at night. Mike went the extra mile to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. We enjoyed his company and hearing how he and his wife built the cabin and everything else on the farm. There are small boats to use in the lake and fishing poles. They have created a safe heaven for campers! Can't wait to be back.

If you’re looking for off the beaten path (off the grid), this is the perfect place. I believe there are 5 spots, but only two others were occupied when we stayed the two nights. The stars were incredible in the night sky!

Mike was quick to respond to any questions we had.

This was a truly wonderful find! If anyone is heading to Acadia we would 100% recommend staying here instead on trying to find site on the crowded island. We stayed in site 1, which is perfect for car campers as you can drive straight into it. It’s also one of the sites right next to the lake, so you wake up to beautiful views across the water. Mike was a great host and we loved learning about how he’s using solar power to pump water from a fresh water spring up to his home, which he and his wife power fully with solar. The outhouse, complete with a flush toilet, air freshener, tons of toilet paper and a full length mirror and hooks is the cleanest I’ve ever seen on a campsite or maybe anywhere. There are fishing rods, bait, a canoe and a rowing boat that you can take out on the water… just watch out for the pet “guard” ducks which will adorably follow you around the lake to make sure you don’t get too close to their duck house! :) Mike also kindly invites you to help yourself to veggies from their garden and fresh eggs in the morning, which is a really nice treat. Overall, this type of place is what Hipcamp should be all about - fabulous hosts, beautiful camping and peace and quiet to relax and recharge.

True Serendipity was everything we were hoping for and more. We were traveling with our two kids, 10 and 4, and Mike and Cheryl were the kindest, most welcoming hosts. They're building their homestead from scratch themselves and make every effort to share the fruits of their labors with their camping guests. It really felt like we were visiting caring relatives. The hand-built bathroom is clean and well-appointed. The fresh drinking water from their Artesian well was delicious and such a cool natural feature to share with the kids. Mike and Cheryl shared their garden harvest and eggs (when the hens cooperated) with all the guests, which was the perfect supplement to our camp dinners. Firepits are well-built, tent sites are flat and have plenty of space. We rented a tent from them and it was already set up for us on arrival, making the first night and packing up much less of a hassle. Mike showed the kids how to fish from the stocked pond. A free kayak and canoe were available if we'd had time to enjoy them, though we packed our days visiting Acadia NP and Bar Harbor. This place is a treasure and we would 100% visit again.

Mike was extremely nice and made sure that we had everything that we needed. We stayed at site #1, which was right along the pond with our roof top tent and it was perfect for an overnight stay with our two Pomeranians. The entire location is so beautiful and has so much history. Although there are 4 other sites for other campers close by, everything is very spaced out where you have lots of privacy. The bathroom on site was very nice and there was so much to see and do that we didn't have enough time to take in everything in one evening.

Mike and Cheryl are amazing hosts! They met us at the gate with flashlights and helped us park in the dark. We woke up to a beautiful fog over the pond. Mike even let our kids feed the fish. The campsite and bathroom were so clean and well maintained. Next time we are in Maine we will be back!
