Good place for one or two nights
The back field site was perfect for my mini carRv and a couple tents for the kids. We enjoyed watching pollinators active over the clover. Kids enjoyed biking the mowed path around the field, the animals, and the on-site farm day craft tables. Our host set up a 5-gal pail with citronella, a flashlight, hand sanitizer, and lighters - much appreciated! Highly recommend bringing something for shade. FYI, the farm’s watch dog barks though out the day and there is pretty constant road noise except for the wee hours of the morning. Primitive toilet was a hoot, but functional.
Great place, wonderful people! I spent 13 weeks here in my camper while on a work assignment and absolutely loved it. Although I was on night shift, the noises of the working farm weren't bad at all and didn't interfere with sleep. The setting is quite peaceful, even for me an introvert/homebody who likes their privacy. The couple who run the farm were so very helpful and accommodating, made sure they took my schedule into consideration before any noisy undertaking, and even set up an entirely new location for me to have more shade instead of being in direct sun in my little tin can. I couldn't have asked for better hosts. They really went above and beyond. I also thoroughly enjoyed watching the animals, and they have areas on the property for walking. I would absolutely stay here again if the opportunity presented itself. Sweet, thoughtful people, made sure I had everything I needed, and they totally respected my privacy while I was there. Go for it, you won't be disappointed! Happy booking!!
Host was very friendly and accommodating. However, the two field sites are a little too close to the animals. We had free range chickens walking all thru our campsite and one rooster came right up to my tent door at 4:45 am and started cockadooing. Because we were so close to the goats and chickens, it was not peaceful. There was no shade so we ended up leaving a day early because it was just too warm. Don't think I'd stay there again.
We camped back in the wooded site and it was lovely. Private and peaceful. It had a nice picnic table and a largish tent platform (big enough for our six person tent). The outhouse could use a little tlc, but not too bad. All in all a very pleasant stay. We would definitely stay there again.
A great maine farm!
Hosts were great! Buy their eggs, they were delightful! I would say the “woods” lot is good if you are 2 people or less. The field spot was great for our large party. The hosts checked in to make sure we were good several times but also did not “bug us” at all.
One word of warning, no running water so pack your own. Bathroom listed is a composting farm toilet. It’s rustic, but it’s clean and does not smell. They maintain it well.
I stayed at Howling Goat Farm for just one night to see a concert in Bangor. Ashley was incredibly accommodating and quick to respond. The land itself was gorgeous with adorable goats, alpacas, cows, chickens, and turkeys. There are also some very cute dogs. Very magical. Just bring your bug spray and follow the directions Ashley gives you so you don't turn down the wrong road.
Renting in the woods
Nice little tent pad in the woods with a fire pit and campfire. Take a little trail from the outhouse back to your secluded site. I'd definitely stay here again!
Fantastic farm, easy to get to, and most importantly, an incredibly accommodating host. Thank you so much Ashley for a great stay. We hope to visit again soon.
