Hidden Valley is a small gem and the Pond Cabin just perfect - we came with a few friends and all loved the proximity to the lake, the campfire and the cabin interior as well as the canoes to explore the lake. No one on site but the team was superfriendly and responded to all my questions within minutes! Upper level can be quite warm in the summer, but that is to be expected. Take note that the drinking water tap is 1 mile away.
All in all a great experience!
It’s a great private cabin on a pond!
Pond Cabin was a great experience. The swimming, canoes, and view were perfect over this hot July weekend. The hike in with gear was a bit brutal during the mid-day heat (especially with 2 five year olds in tow) so I recommended packing lightly or making two trips.
A couple of suggestions:
The cabin would have been a lot more comfortable to sleep in if all the screens were installed and all the windows worked.
Earlier check in during summer to avoid hiking in during the hottest part of the day.
Safety concern:
We had several men who were camping down the trail show up at Pond Cabin at 9pm, talking loudly under our windows as they proceeded to help themselves to firewood. We were in the cabin putting the kids to sleep and the whole experience felt intrusive & disrespectful. They left once we made ourselves known, but it should have been obvious that people were staying at the cabin because all of our things were out and around the picnic table. (Plus they saw us earlier in the day when they hiked in.) Maybe more signage or reminders about respecting people’s privacy would help.
Overall, we had a great time and the kids approved!
Absolutely gorgeous! We had beautiful weather and hiked and swam lots! Can’t recommend this place enough
The cabin was so beautiful! It is so close to the water and the boat house where you can rent canoes. It was very clean and had so many large windows that made you feel like you were outside.
It was nice that there were 2 cots, a pot for boiling water, dish washing soap and a couple of other things that might have been left behind by other campers but were very helpful. Being so close to the canoes and the dock was wonderful. The couple of other people we saw were really nice and the hiking trails and exploring the pond was fun.
Most amazing stay. Quiet and calm, beautiful views and wildlife all around. Went canoeing and caught two beautiful Bass. I can’t wait to come back
The serene setting with picturesque views of the pond and the nighttime stars from big windows was perfect! The cabin was spacious, and the cots were comfy.
