Quintessential maine experince
My girlfriend and I stayed at 4 acres for a night and had a very nice experience. The hipcamp host and owner of the campground was very friendly and accommodating. The campground is surrounded by a nice mossy spruce forest that is very quintessential Maine. The surrounding area is really beautiful and there are many recreational activities to enjoy as well as art galleries, seafood, coffee, and a food co-op close by. The campground rents canoes and sea kayaks for exploring the calmer waters of the surrounding bays and coves. The drive to the campground is really cool because you pass over an old bridge and a series of causeways with great views of the surrounding areas. It would be a great place to a road bike. Overall I am excited to have found this part of Maine and I look forward to going back soon.
My friend and pup and I loved Four Acre Woods! Such a magical, pristine setting. The sites are close together but feel private because of the way they are laid out. The bath house was super clean and we very much appreciated having hot water for showers! Caleb, the host, was helpful and laid back. I felt safe and serene here and would definitely stay again :)
We had such a good time here, we loved how relaxed this place was. We chose the site that was the most set back from the rest and we really enjoyed how primitive it was. Caleb was really friendly and gave us so many trail options and showed us some awesome spots for sunset/sunrise views. This place really has everything you need and a little bit more for camping!
We stayed for several days last week at the end of Aug 2021. We kayaked at 3 different areas nearby. Caleb, who owns the campground, is friendly and available, and is happy to talk about kayaking, books, and other things. He lends a positive 'vibe' to the campground and people seemed happy there. (The bathrooms are clean.)
Loved staying here as a jumping off point to explore the island. Simple and straight forward sites with everything you need covered looking into beautiful old trees and woods. Had there been anything we did need I have no doubt Caleb would have been there to help in a second and made himself easily accessible. He also recommended awesome places to hike, paddle and explore which were really, really, (really) nice. Can't say enough good things about this place. If you're thinking of crashing here, don't hesitate! These guys are doing it right.
