The yurt has a full bed, loveseat, and kitchen area with a propane stove and bucket sink (no running water, but jugs of water provided.) There is a small solar generator for lights and charging phones. Outside there's a fire pit, outdoor chairs, and a private outhouse. We live 1/2 mile down a dirt road tucked into the forest. Enjoy the solitude of the woods, but with a lot to do nearby. Only 3 miles from the Searsport town beach, 10 minutes from downtown Belfast, 15 minutes from Swan Lake State Park, 30 minutes to Camden, and an hour from Acadia. The yurt is at the start of our long driveway. Our cabin is at the far end, through the woods and not visible from the yurt. We're nearby if you need anything, but far away enough for your privacy.
The nitty gritty:
For groups of 3, please note that there is only one full bed. Please contact us before booking. We made the option of 3 available in case there's a little kiddo that can sleep on the loveseat. We want small families to enjoy yurt living, too!
Kitchen essentials are provided--a cooler (bring ice!), cookware, utensils, mugs, glasses, wine opener, pour over coffee maker and filters, salt, pepper, oil, dish soap, and a sponge. If there's something else you need, we may have it! Please just ask at least 24 hours before your visit.
We ask that you bring your own linens and pillows. However, if needed, we offer sheets and blankets for an additional $20. Being off grid makes laundry a time-consuming chore, rather than charge a cleaning fee, we gave you the option. All trash is pack in pack out. Sorry, no pets allowed. No smoking cigarettes in the yurt, and no littering of butts. Campfires are allowed, but since you're tucked into the canopy, they must be small and in control. No burning of plastic, trash, or food. Water is provided to put the fire out before you go to bed. At this time, firewood is not provided, but you're welcome to forage for fallen branches--there's plenty! No cutting of trees dead or alive. Local firewood only to prevent infestation, we love our healthy beech trees. There are places in town to buy it. We don't have any close by neighbors, but the road is public. When booking, message us with your favorite vegetable so we know you've read this and agree to these terms.
Remember, although this a step up from camping, it is still rustic. We have lived off-the-grid for 6 years now, we will leave information to make your stay as comfortable as possible! We are an active homestead, you may hear us working on projects during the day. If you'd like to come check it out, we ask that you call before coming down.
Things to bring:
-tupperware for blueberry picking (Late July-Early September dependent on season) Although we don't own the blueberry land, we have permission to hand pick (no rakes)
- Check in: After 3PM
- Check out: Before 11AM
- Cancellation policy: Moderate
- On arrival: Go straight to camp
- Minimum nights: 1 night

If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We loved this cozy yurt so much! It had everything we needed and was the perfect place to land on our way to Acadia. Gloria left us some fresh cut flowers and eggs from her chickens. and the firewood was amazing! Recommend this spot to anyone! :)
Gloria and Brian are excellent hosts. The yurt was beautiful, much bigger than expected, spotlessly clean and so well equipped with everything you need - it really exceeded our expectations. The bed is comfortable and with a dining table and chairs and sofa we had plenty of places to sit inside, as well as the fire pit outside. It’s a fantastic place to explore the surrounding Searsport area too. We highly recommend this amazing place to stay and will definitely be back again!
All the zen vibes!
If you’re looking for a serene Maine woods getaway, look no further! This is the perfect retreat for if you’re looking for a relaxing, off the grid experience. The nearby coastal towns are just a short drive away if you choose to get out and explore some awesome dining and sights. As for accommodations, well, they were pristine. From the solar string lights to light your way in the dark, to the charging station and furnishings for added comfort— it’s enough to make you consider doing this Yurt life year-round. As for the outhouse: it’s easily the cleanest one we’ve ever seen; and we’ve camped across the country (twice). We can’t wait to return for another stay before the season ends. Thank you Brian and Gloria for the hospitality!! 👏🏻
All the zen vibes!
What a gem! This was such a serene and unexpected find tucked away in the woods.
If you’re looking for an uninterrupted Maine outdoor retreat — this is the spot.
The accommodations could not be any cleaner. Hands down the tidiest outhouse we’ve ever seen, and we’ve camped all over the country — so believe us!
This was a great first Yurt experience, which we can’t wait to repeat time and time again. Thank you Brian and Gloria for creating this little slice of heaven for all of us to enjoy.
