If you are tent camping we will be building tent platforms this spring 5/2022. Please try and arrive early if you can it gets very dark.. The property is great for quads and dirt bikes. Kyake, tube, swim, or paddleboard on river, in the summer. Trails on the property great for Mt. bikes or walks. Great dog walking property. Mt. Katahdin only a little over a hour away, unfortunately Katahdin (Baxter park) does not allow dogs so if your planning on hiking there unfortunately you can't bring your dog, but we love dogs and the property being 114 acres there's plenty of room for them to run. There is a small Maine store at end of North Street. Dollar General 15 minutes towards Patten. Restaurant Brenda's in Shell station Excellent food!!! 5 minutes away. Property feels like private get away but only 5 minutes to town. Always put fire out with water please, Thank you! Property is carry in carry out. Outhouse on property.

Carolyn & Roger, I cannot thank you enough for opening your land to us. My boyfriend, the dogs, and I had the most incredible time. From your land, we saw so many amazing places (traveled on the golden road, Gulf Hagas, and visited the abandoned trains). I cannot wait to visit again!
Carolyn went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, from leaving rubber rafts& bicycles, to closing off our dates so our bigger group had the place to ourselves for the week. Plus the atv trails right at your doorstep were amazing. The small lazy river was prefect for kids and adults both. My only thought would be if your camping id recommend a airmattress as there is a lot of gravel unless your going to hike further into the woods for a camping spot. All in all we all had a wonderful stay and would stay again in a heartbeat.
Great open space. Quiet, secluded, amazing stars. Great access to local trails and sites and highways. Everything we were looking for in a campsite! Thanks Carolyn!
This spot is great. Lots and lots of acreage to wander and explore. Overall pretty private - we had a great time. Carolyn and Roger were super kind and helpful also.
Buggy would be an understatement, it was like one of the lower circles of hell with specific regard to the mosquitos that breed down by the river (and make their way up to the campground around nightfall). There were thousands, and I don’t mean that as an understatement — literally tens of thousands of the little shites. There was no respite, they swarmed the tent and pee breaks in the middle of the night were accompanied by dozens more bites. By the morning, no amount of anti itch cream could relieve the agony. In short, do not go to Sherman Maine in the summer. Unless you just, like, really hate yourself or something.
I responded to Nicholas privately, but would like all campers to know if you run into a week of heavy bugs/ mosquitoes, please message me I'd be happy to open up the cabin to them if it's available or any dates it is available. We want people to enjoy their stay and understand they've taken time off from work to enjoy the outdoors. I have refunded guest also if they have chosen to leave for some reason, we really just want campers to enjoy the property. It's Awful to be getting eaten alive every night, we are 40 year campers so understand that. Although we are not always on the property we will always attempt to help campers through messaging. We’ve stayed at Carolyns place and it is always a treat. We love bringing our rv and enjoying the area with our dogs. Lovely river and great trails to walk. We’ll definitely be back.

Large sprawling property in the woods with tons of space and a very pretty river/creek running through it. We booked very last minute and were the only ones there — it was very private. We saw a beautiful fox just after sunset. Only comment would be that there are *tons* of mosquitos. Wasn't much of a problem for us as we were car camping and have screens on the windows, but they were swarming.
Hi Nina, My apologies for this very late response. The hipcamp app was changed a bit and I actually just found the reviews sorry about that. I'm happy you found the property when you needed a spot, yes depending on the time of year the mosquitoes and sometimes the flys can be terrible, if you start a small fire sometimes the smoke helps.
