2021:  Thank you to everyone who visited in 2020!  I am truly grateful for all you.  This year I am looking forward to accommodating you with a few changes.  The sites are adequately spaced apart to accommodate COVID-19 protocol.  There is a shared porta-potty between the two campsites.  In the event that both campsites are occupied I ask that you use the disinfectant wipes along with the provided gloves to wipe the door handle before entering and wipe the surface before use of the facility.  Please stay 6 feet away from the other campers as much as possible.  The unit will be cleaned in between campers and at random intervals.  Also, please bring charcoal briquettes for the grill provided if you don't want to cook over the fire. *Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy your stay.

**RUSTIC** Come pitch your tent on this tent platform (accommodates 4 man tent for anchoring to the gravel off the platform), larger parking if you would rather park your small camper or pop-up.  and enjoy the sound and smells of the ocean and close proximity to Acadia National park.

Bar Harbor is a 20 minute drive from the camp site.

The campsite is right off a gravel road off of a corner of my 1 acre lot tucked into the edge of the trees.  Swimming nearby includes Echo Lake Beach and Long Pond Beach.

*amenities include electric hookup, water, wifi (text me for the password), and a porta potty. I have provided 4 camp chairs.  If you have more than 1 vehicle you may need to park in my driveway in the spot on the right side of the house (green ranch).

Please let me know if you need anything additional and I will try to accommodate you.  I usually leave campers to their solitude. ***Please make sure you read the guest reviews before you book.**

The trash can provided at the campsite was overturned and its contents were spread around the site when we arrived, including some bags of dog poop. I tried twice to call the owner of the property with no answer, but finally got a text in return that someone was going to come clean it up. No one came. We put most of the trash back in the can, fully knowing that the raccoons would empty it again overnight, which is exactly what happened (loudly of course) around 1am. Otherwise we liked the campsite. The trash can should be secured with more than a bungee cord. That would never keep out even the least determined raccoon.

The location of this campsite is perfect for someone wanting to be close to Southwest Harbor. The site offers better privacy than a campground but if you are looking for total privacy, it is right next to the road and house of the host. This did not affect our stay at all. Upon arrival at our site there was trash everywhere that had looked like it had been there for days and we had to spend 10 minutes picking it all up. Aside from the mess, it was an overall decent stay for a quick one night.

Perfect size site for 2 people! Tent platform perfect for a 3 person tent. Right next to a dirt road but very lightly traveled. Table provided for guests.

Great access to Acadia and all surrounding fun. Campsite was quiet which is in contrast to the rest of Acadia. There was no one in the campground next to us, might have seemed a bit close if there had been. (Still further away than traditional campgrounds). As others mentioned, next to the road, but very quiet road and neighbors were friendly. Happy to have a table to cook on and camp chairs provided. Host stayed out of our hair which was perfect for us.

This was a great jumping point to all that Acadia has to offer. The site was kind of small and close to the dirt road but the neighbors were all friendly and waved as they passed. The platform was great to set our tent up on and having fresh water and an extension cord at the site was such a luxury! Make sure to look up at night, we could see the Milky Way!

This site was great! Really easy to find, plenty of space to park our Sprinter van and set up a two-person tent on the platform. There was a plastic table and some chairs at the site, but we used our own camp chairs and table. The fire pit was in good shape (we brought our own wood). The road is a dead end (I think?), so the minimal traffic was not a big deal; less than what I've seen at regular campgrounds. The porta-potty was in good shape and the light inside was a very nice touch. Much appreciated!

It was a pretty cool site, just a bit hard to find. There were no flowers and the blue flag was apparent with a sailboat, but once we figured it out, we had a pretty great time.

Overall the spot was good and worth it as a place to sleep for trips into Acadia.

Wouldn’t recommend it too much as a private spot to hang out with the road so close (though we only saw two cars over the three nights we were there). Also a bit messy with bits of trash about.

But overall not a bad spot to put the tent! Beautiful forest and nice accommodations.

We were happy we stayed here! I read through other people's reviews before our trip and was later surprised that so many people left mixed/negative reviews. I didn't think the description of the site was deceiving (though I agree that some of the pictures are). I wanted to address a few themes I saw in reviews:
--Site size - The description tells you this is a driveway on the owner's property. There are options for a large driveway/small platform or a small driveway/large platform. We fit our Jeep Cherokee in the small driveway and our 6-person tent on the large platform. People seemed upset that they were in a driveway but this is stated right in the description.
--Site location (specifically, on a road) - It's a dead-end road and barely any cars passed by while we were there. Compared to the Acadia sites, this is actually great. In Acadia, people are driving to/from their sites throughout the day and there is tons of noise.
--Proximity to other campsite (other driveway) - Yes, you're close by, but again, this is actually better than staying in Acadia where you'd be super close to TONS of other campers. Having a single camping party next to us was actually barely noticeable.
--Port-a-potty - No one loves a port-a-potty but this one was clean and had all needed supplies (tp and sanitizer). Also, it's shared with only one other camping party. The bathrooms in Acadia are shared among many more and are often a further walk from your campsite.

Other than addressing that feedback, there were some other nice things about the site:
The location is FANTASTIC for Acadia...it's about a 5 minute walk to a rocky Seawall beach, hot showers (quarter-operated) and a delicious Lobster shack are also close by, the place is super quiet and dark (for stargazing!) and the site actually has electricity (an extension cord from the house) and water (a hose form the house), which is more than is offered in the Acadia campsites.

I encourage people considering this site to read through the reviews and determine if it's the right place for them. This is literally a driveway off a street. It's a dead-end street with barely any traffic (just people who live there), but yes, it's a driveway. Our driveway was small and our car was right up against our chairs, but we were still comfortable. The platform was plenty big enough for our 6-person tent.

This was a great location. Yes, it right on the road and small but we only had one car pass us all weekend. Easy to get places they had a Porto potty and shower (chilly but did the job!). We would stay again and recommend.
