We have a small organic garden, and our land is 10 acres of pasture, with a few patches of trees. It is very private in a secluded horse farm neighborhood, on a very quiet, dead-end street that does not get much traffic. At night you can see all the stars as there is no light pollution. During the summer months the frogs, crickets, and light bugs are beautiful! We are only an hour north of New Orleans! If you are looking for hiking, tubing, swimming, biking, fishing or disc golf, Bogue Chitto State park is only 10 miles away. We have a great coffee shop in town, The Giddy Up. My boyfriend and I loved staying here! We camped here for 2 nights in our rooftop tent, and it was fun to wake up to all of the animals. The pig, the dogs, the mule, donkey, horses… the whole lot! All sweet, beautiful creatures. Sharessa was also super cool and easygoing, and introduced us to all her lovely farm friends and was so welcoming for the time we spent roaming around. Highly recommend :)
Had a great time at this spot! Got to hold a baby goat (ahhh!) and meet all the animals :-) Sharessa was super accommodating and gave us a tour of the farm. Highly recommend!
Amazing place to stay. Very quiet, dark skies for good star viewing, gentle and approachable farm animals and gracious hosts. Close enough to New Orleans if you wanted to visit there.
The Bellwether Homestead was an incredible spot! It is a very spacious and comfortable space. We loved meeting all of the farm animals, making a campfire at night, eating fresh farm eggs in the morning. The firewood and eggs for sale were very convenient and inexpensive. Shareesa was very friendly and was happy to give us a tour around her property. We have been recommending this place to friends since we’ve returned from our trip, and are excited to return!
this was my first ever stay through hipcamp, and i had such a nice introduction to the service with my stay at Bellweather. Sharessa was informative and friendly! i was able to pitch and access the facilities with no issues. Sharessa was able to give me a dinner recommendation as well as a suggestion for some entertainment going on that evening! i had a great night staying here.
Had an amazing experience here! The location was beautiful, peaceful, and our entire family had a wonderful time. The hosts were easy to communicate with and helpful.
What a wonderful place to camp for 2 nights! The grassy meadow under tall, graceful trees was lovely! This well kept farm had a variety of animals - chickens, goats, sheep, a cow, a donkey, a couple of horses, a pig and even two baby emus! Sharessa, the host, was helpful but not overbearing. I highly recommend this off the beaten track well maintained farm in a beautiful setting!
