The campsite at Retreatville is rugged and has direct access to the Whiskey Chitto Creek. There are not designated campsites, but there are large spaces without trees where you can put up your tent or hammock. When the ground is dry, you can pull your car up right to where you are camping. There are canoes around, but make sure you confirm with Rick that he will bring paddles out so you can use them. The property recently had a pretty bad flood, so I imagine it will get better as time passes and things clear up a bit. Right now, there are no amenities available. Be sure to be in touch with Rick about where the property is located, as the "Use Google Maps" address is incorrect and far away, but the written address is right.

There are no designated campsites, so you can chose to throw your tent wherever you'd likeAmple canoes are around. Make sure you have communicated your desire to canoe so paddles will be available.forest people camperDirect access to the Whiskey Chitto Creek

Retreatville was quite and very peaceful. We caught a half of a dozen catfish(my favorite) and swim on the sandbar. It's under a little construction from the past floods and hurricanes so there is no running water but the river.. Beautiful place and very nice and respectable host.

Our campsite on 5he river bank... My hammock... I just love my mosquito net that came with it... Don't forget your spray... But really not too badOld cabin still suited to live inHad a welcoming crew there when we arrived

The water level on the river was too high to use canoes due to recent storms, but the site is beautiful. There are plenty of spots to set up camp and many fire rings available. Rick was so nice and helpful in showing us around when we arrived, teaching us how to track the height of the river and helping us choose a good campsite and collecting fire wood.

Not for whimps. This is a beautiful place- however no shower, no potable (unless you use the river) water, and it wasn't noted you need a vehicle w/ awd to get down to the campsite area. Rough road. Wild hogs are around. The river and camp road is subject to flooding. Nice and friendly host and loved the nearby town Kinder, la. There were some other folks camping there and it was great to meet them and share a campfire, and discuss how we'd get out of camp if the overnight rain qty added up to something serious.

This property is an excellent place to get away and relax. It is very scenic with the river and wooded area surrounding the property. It is very private and peaceful. We are bird watchers and this was a perfect fit. The host was very helpful with information regarding the property. Rick was very friendly and accommodating. We will return to this site for an extended stay in the near future.

Rick was great, he called us back and was friendly and informative. The area was a bit rustic for us city folk. Would be better if we had a truck. Rick was accommodating to our needs and let us camp at the gate area.

Rick was the most helpful host ever. Between him and his friend Darrell they made sure I had everything I needed. They even offered me a canoe to take out on the river. I set up my tent right by the river with my fire going and slept very peacefully. This place was safe, secluded, and fun to explore. Thank You Rick & Darrell a.k.a. Bojangles

Wyatt was a great host. He is very sweet, kind and welcoming. He also made us laugh a lot! The space was very private, we felt safe. We enjoyed this small town in Louisiana, many beautiful country roads all around, We got a very authentic experience. We also enjoyed canoeing on the river right by the camp spot. Would recommend to others!
