White Mound County Park stands out as a unique destination due to its expansive 1,100 acres of diverse landscapes and recreational opportunities, making it a perfect getaway for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The park derives its name from a historic village that once thrived south of its boundaries, known for the distinctive white limestone mounds in the area. Visitors can still glimpse the remnants of an abandoned limestone kiln within the park. The campground features 46 campsites, with 37 offering electrical hookups, and is open from May to November, weather permitting. For equestrian enthusiasts, the horse campground includes 7 sites equipped with electric and water hookups, available from May 15 to October 31. The park also provides a dump station and water fill-up stations for campers. Horse trails are accessible from May 15 through November 1, allowing riders to explore the scenic surroundings. Pets are welcome in the park but must be kept on a 6-foot leash at all times. At the heart of the park lies the picturesque 104-acre White Mound Lake, ideal for paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, and slow-no-wake boating.
