Previously a 100 acre century farm, this fertile land was tended to by generations of old time farmers. Their dairy cows pastured in areas which we now graze sheep. The restored quarry provided gravel for the nearby highway restoration and local projects. The property is currently a mix of hay ground, cropland, pasture, forest, and quarry. Twin sisters, Darla and Kayla, and their families live across the road from each other and own the surrounding 140 acres. They keep busy planting/tending trees, making hay, moving fence for grazing animals, operating a farm business called Twin Folk Farms (pastured meat, camps, etc), and raising their families. Learn more about this land: - This site is at the edge of a restored quarry, sheep pasture, and wooded hillside. - The site is tucked down a flat mowed path, so it feels very private and protected. - You can hike up a path to the sheep pasture. Sometimes sheep are there, sometimes elsewhere on the farm. You can hike the other direction and check out the restored quarry. We have paths all around the property, so feel free to respectfully explore. - You can't see the highway from this site, but you can hear it. It's super handy to be able to hop out of your campsite haven and onto the hwy, but be aware that you will hear vehicles. - There's a Mississippi river boat launch a few miles down the road, so feel free to park your boat at the bottom of the quarry driveway. - The Hay Creek riding trails are 25 minutes away, so contact us if you want to set up a place in the quarry to park your horses and trailer for the night. - We are certified to sell meat straight off of the farm (Twin Folk Farms), so contact us if you want to purchase your meat and have it delivered to your campsite. You can also set up a time to come up to the farm and purchase meat. - The beautiful, historic town of Red Wing is 10 minutes from our farm. You'll find a mix of modern amenities and historic shops to suit your fancy.

- Pitch your tent in a meadow-like area, overlooking the restored gravel quarry on one side, and a wooded ravine on the other. - You'll have access to your own camping toilet, picnic table, grill, benches for sitting, and fire ring. - We have a campsite in mind, but feel free to pitch your tent in a different area within the vicinity of the campsite (example: woods versus meadow). - You can't see the highway from this site, but you can hear it. It's super handy to be able to hop out of your campsite haven and onto the hwy, but be aware that you will hear vehicles. - There are two other sites on the property. One is another campsite down in the quarry, and the other is a cabin across the hayfield and through the woods. You'll be at a healthy distance from each other, but may occasionally pass on a trail if you choose to explore. - We are certified to sell meat straight off of the farm (Twin Folk Farms), so contact us if you want to purchase your meat and have it delivered to your campsite. Soak in some relaxing days of slow, nature infused living, with our solar powered, off grid cabin. Glamping! The cabin is privately located, and tucked back in a wooded nook of our 125 acre farm. You'll arrive, get settled in, and breath in a deep sigh of peace. To access the cabin you drive through the field roads to the parking sign. Pack your belongings in the wagons provided, and hike the remaining few minutes through the woods, and up to the cabin! It's an adventure getting back to the cabin, but once you get there, you realize that you're private, yet very accessible to hopping on the highway and heading into town. Red Wing is only 12 minutes away, with modern amenities and charming shops. Ellsworth is equally close, known as the 'cheese curd capital'. The solar is available yet limited, so be conscious to always turn off lights and only plug in things that are absolutely necessary (like your cell phone). Enjoy the use of the gas stove/oven, the grill, and the firepit. The solar isn't strong enough for a fridge, but there's a cooler provided. The cabin has no water or plumbing. We will have a 5 gallon jug of potable water ready for you, and you are welcome to drive to our yard and get more. Just let us know ahead of time. Our residence is a half mile from the cabin. The wooden outhouse overlooking the woods is perfect for daytime use. The camping toilet inside the cabin is ideal for those night-time trips when you want to keep it quick. Take your pick. ;-) The two twin beds in the loft are ready for those who like to climb ladders (be careful!), and the two full size custom built log futons on the main level provide more sleeping options. The twin beds will be assembled with fresh sheets, and there are bins of fresh bedding by the futons. You can make them if you wish, otherwise, they'll stay closed to keep the living area spacious. Experiment with our off grid coffee/tea station. Poke around and play the games on the butcherblock table, use the fire sticks, read some books, find fancy drinkware. Explore the trails. Drink your morning coffee out on the wooden rocker on the deck. We're working on a private outdoor solar shower setup, and we don't promise it, but hope to get it perfected soon! Your well behaved dogs are very much welcome. We expect you to wipe their feet upon entering, and keep them off of the furniture. We charge a pet fee. We hope it won't happen, but will charge for damages like chewing and destroying property. Please pick up feces that are deposited in the yard area. Let's keep the cabin nice for future guests. Only keep your dogs off leash if they come when called. We have sheep on the property which could cause some dogs to become excited.

We loved "glamping" here! The cabin was adorable and had everything we needed. The location was perfect...secluded, yet so close to several gorgeous hiking spots. The stargazing was incredible. Our pups (one of whom is scared of other dogs and people) were so happy to have the seclusion. It was the perfect spot to spend our days hiking, and our nights being cozy in the cabin!

Really great little spot. We brought our new lab puppy and she loved the freedom and space to run. Made a few easy runs to Red Wing for hiking and shopping. This place is close to everything and yet has the feel of being a million miles from the rat race.

Hidden Hills is the perfect off-grid escape! Darla and her husband are the kindest hosts — when we couldn’t pull up our email, they welcomed us to their home, and he personally guided us to the cabin with water, firewood, and even help with our bags. That level of hospitality made us feel so cared for from the moment we arrived. The cabin itself is cozy, clean, and thoughtfully stocked. There were tons of games to play, a coffee maker with coffee ready, and a kitchen with everything we could need: utensils, cutting boards, knives, frying pans, and even a seasoned cast-iron skillet (cooking on it was amazing — nothing stuck!). Linens were also provided, which was such a plus. There’s a little walk up and down a hill to reach the cabin, but the view and the sense of seclusion make it more than worth it. We loved relaxing with our dogs, cooking over the fire, and just enjoying the quiet beauty of the setting. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already planning our return. If you’re looking for peace, comfort, and thoughtful touches in a secluded setting, this is it. Highly recommend!

Loved our stay. It was a great escape for all of us. The what we assume is a dry creek was fun to wonder up as well as the paths I do warn that if you have a lower car you will have to park at the top of the hill and walk everything down to the site but its worth it.

Hidden Hills is such a gem for a peaceful getaway! Darla and her husband are the kindest hosts — when we couldn’t get our email pulled up because of service, we went to their house and he happily showed us the way to the cabin. He had firewood and water ready for us, and even helped carry our bags in. That thoughtful hospitality set the tone for our entire stay. The cabin itself is cozy, clean, and the perfect off-grid escape. We cooked a delicious dinner over the fire — steak, caramelized onions, and foil-packet potatoes from Pepin Country Store — and it was one of the highlights of our trip. While their farm meats were unfortunately sold out during our visit, the nearby food and wine scene more than made up for it. Villa Bellezza Winery has fantastic wines and gluten-free pizza (11/10!), Cannon River Winery is a must-visit (their wines are incredible and worth joining the club), and Pepin Country Store is a fun, unique stop for produce and goods. For dining, The Wild Hare in Stillwater is a gluten-free dream. We left feeling grateful, relaxed, and already planning our return. Hidden Hills is one of those special places you’ll want to visit again and again — highly recommend!

Staying at the cabin on Darla's land was a spectacular break from our norm and exactly what we needed! It is a bit of a walk from the parking area to the cabin itself, but truly enjoyable! (I feel like I can say that as I've had my hip replaced twice, most recently a year ago, it really is an enjoyable little hike) Inside was gorgeous, too! The ladder up to the loft area became easier to use with each use. The gas stove and oven was there for use and works well. While there may not be plumbing, the set-up she has works well, and as they say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The outhouse is surprisingly peaceful and the cabin toilet works as well. A delay stole a chunk of our trip but Darla graciously allowed us a later checkout for more time to explore and enjoy everything. Pets are welcome so we brought our cat, Evelyn. To ensure she was a good guest we brought her two beds, her litter box, as well as a little pop-up playpen that allows her outside with me, without having to worry about her running off (granted, at 22.5 lbs and 13 years old, she doesn't do much running around anymore) and found it unnecessary as the railing around the porch also has a wire fence around the bottom ensuring safety for pets And kids. hile we didn't get around to using them much, bikes were something we added on, as well as firewood, that definitely benefited our trip. This place is truly gorgeous and we are already hoping to book another! P.s. easy to get to even in a tiny Hyundai Elantra.

Darla and her husband were super friendly and excellent hosts. They were kind enough to let us fill our water tank at their house/barn and we got to meet some of their animals. Our dog even got to check out a chicken for the first time. The site itself was very secluded, in a bit of small valley with a hill on three sides and long curved path leading up. The tent area and cabin were both rented out while we were there but we never saw any sign of them. Our site and everywhere we walked was nice thick grass except for the gravel quarry and hills in/out. A few tips (not complaints): The gravel road down from the highway was narrow and steep so much better to arrive in the daylight if possible. It is a straight shot and empties into a big flat quarry field so no danger of getting lost or anything, just less uncomfortable if you can see everything. Our camper and truck combo was right at the edge of their recommended length, so getting in and settled to the site was a challenge. That's on us, not on them. If I had to do it again, I probably would have driven into the quarry and backed down the path instead of my 27-point turnaround effort in the site. A smaller camper (and/or more experienced driver) would have been better suited to layout. As mentioned in the site description, you could hear some road noise but usually just loud motorcycles or trucks that seemed to have their Jake brakes on. Totally disappeared inside the camper.

Great property with lots of beautiful land to explore. Was a great first “camping” experience for our kids. Cabin was cozy when we got rain, and it was awesome to have a camp toilet so we didn’t have to trek to the outhouse in a downpour! Darla and her husband were so helpful as well. Hanging in the hammock and catching toads were the favorites from our kiddos. :)

Very beautiful property and nice location! There was enough space for 4 adults, 5 kids, and 2 dogs to spread out. Highly recommend ordering the breakfast sausage, as it was fantastic! The farm animals were a great treat for everyone and the owners are so friendly and welcoming. With that, the toilet situation does get stinky after 2 days and you should come prepared with toilet paper. Be VERY careful driving in to the property. The entry hill to the property is very steep and uneven and the final ascent to the campsite is even more steep. SUVs will do fine, but mini vans struggle. Ask for an alternate route into camp if you're concerned.

We had such a a great time at the cabin! With 4 adults and two dogs, we didn't feel over crowded at all. We swam in the rush river one day and had a board game day inside while it rained. So peaceful, thank you Darla! Hope to get back in the fall for some cooler temps and more fishing.

Hidden Hills Off Grid Cabin

This was our second time staying at Twin Folk farms and our first time at their cabin. We absolutely loved it! The weather wasn't the best so we were happy we had the cabin. It was very cozy, clean, well appointed and our family of five and golden retriever had plenty of room to lounge and move around. The kids had a blast running around the trails exploring the area. We also ran into the host at their tent at the Red Wing Farmers Market which was pretty awesome! We picked up a rack of ribs which we grilled that night and it was amazing (she threw in a chicken foot treat for our dog who loved it). All in all it was a fantastic quick getaway and Darla is a great host. We will be back again sometime down the road!

Very private site- just what we were looking for! You do get some road noise, but it’s nothing that wakes or keeps you up. Was fun to hear the neighboring sheep and cows is the morning and evening. ☺️ Suspiciously few bugs, and not muddy at all despite all the rain we’ve been getting! Just an FYI for those with bigger rigs: it’s a relatively steep driveway down into the property. It’s well graveled and we made it up in low gear 4 wheel drive just fine!

Hidden Hills Off Grid Cabin

We loved the beautiful and private cabin in the woods. The trails were a fun little adventure, and we even got to help feed the bottle lambs with Darla one morning. So fun for us city dwellers. Our 8 year old son loved the loft and I loved not having to go outside in the middle of the night to use the bathroom (thank you!). Plus, the beds were comfortable. HUGE WIN. We all had two good nights of sleep. Thank you Twin Oak Farms!

Darla and her family were great. A welcome retreat near the cities. Beautiful property, hospitable hosts, cozy cabin. Really loved sitting on the deck in the matching rocking chairs. Great spot for stargazing as well. Amazing breeze when windows are open. Plenty of space for sleeping options with comfortable beds. Only thing to be mindful of is the walk to the cabin. Short walk but was rather steep (which we knew ahead of time). That being said, Darla offered rides on a ATV if requested. Would come back again in the future. Thanks!

We had a great stay at the cabin! Just enough off grid amenities to make us comfortable but still give us the outdoor adventure we were looking for with our two pups. It was a cold rainy weekend so we weren't able to explore the land as much as we had liked with ticks being about but having such a large, mowed area around the cabin gave the dogs the exercise they needed. Bonus was that the deck was fenced in so the frenchies could run around and play while we enjoyed our morning coffee. We went to Redwing for the day which is only 10 minutes away so this made for a perfect weekend trip. I would highly recommend staying here and we are already planning a trip back this fall.

We were looking for something simple and secluded, stayed here for an event in Ellsworth but really wanted to check it out to see if it would work for us to bring our dog, who has fear and anxiety issues with strange people and animals. It was perfect—very remote feeling with no scary distractions. We’ll be back with the dog! I would recommend four-wheel drive, as the road into the site is a bit steep with some gullies but our big truck, pulling a smallish camping trailer, made it just fine. Great location and privacy.

What a wonderful spot of land with lots of room to explore! We were able to take the kids hiking up the dry creek bed, and they loved playing hide and seek in the big quarry! The stars at night were also a sight to see. The owner brought us fresh farm eggs and ground lamb, and you absolutely could tell the eggs were from well-cared for chickens. It was such a little oasis, with plenty of shade to keep cool throughout the day.

We absolutely loved the cabin! It made for the perfect weekend getaway. Red wing, and Ellsworth are just down the road in either direction which makes a quick trip town or dinner out easy, yet the property feels “back-woods” and private. The place was clean, the property was well maintained, and the price was reasonable. 10/10

We loved driving off road through the field to get to our parking spot, and hiking up and down the trail to get to the hilltop cabin. Stargazing by the fire was awesome, we also enjoyed walking the property, visiting with the sheep, hanging out inside the cabin and cooking on the grill. We enjoyed the Red Wing area and hope to return in the future!

I will say for our first RV camping without hookups we had a blast. Darla & family were the most gracious hosts ever. They delivered us ground lamb on horseback the first night (which was super cool!) then 2nd day Darla delivered us some cold water & a kiddie pool to help us beat the heat & then again impressed us by delivering us a rabbit that my husband & son cooked over the fire & they truly enjoyed it! We would definitely come back again!

Hidden Hills Off Grid Cabin

Our trip to Twin Folk Farms was perfect. Our dogs were able to run around and enjoy all the smells of nature. The cabin was perfectly secluded for privacy. The beds were comfortable as well. I would recommend buying meat from the farm, especially the bacon. 10/10 would definitely stay again.
