Trails End Resort stands out as a unique destination in the Hayward area, offering a blend of rich family history and modern amenities amidst beautiful natural surroundings. Established in April 1969 by Cal and Adeline Horman, the resort features five charming lakefront cottages equipped with indoor plumbing, set on expansive acreage that Cal envisioned for a future campground. Over the years, the Horman family has transformed the resort into a beloved getaway. They constructed the original A-frame lodge, which includes a seasonal bar and game room, while gradually carving out campsites and building a modern shower house. All of this was accomplished while raising their three children: Michael, Chrissy, and Jennifer. In 1985, Michael and his wife Michele joined the family business, expanding the resort by acquiring additional properties, constructing two rental homes, and enhancing the campground with updated facilities—all while nurturing their own children, Jeremy and Hannah. In 2007, Michele took ownership of Trails End Resort, with Cal and Adeline retaining two rental units. By the fall of 2008, Michele expanded the bar and added a restaurant, transforming it into a year-round establishment.
