Super nice area! Spacious and lots of camp sites to offer. Staying in the cabin was really cozy. The stove and usb charging was really nice. Wood burning to stay warm, was something new that we enjoyed.

It was very nice, and very scenic. The camp areas are as advertised. I drive a mini-van, and we got rained out on our final morning, and driving out was a little dicey. I also wish that we had brought extra TP, as the outhouse ran out. But otherwise, quite a good deal.

This camp site was awesome and very accommodating. My family had a blast and we will definitely be coming back. The only problem, if you want to call it a problem was that we stayed at Twisted Elm and I was unaware that the entire camp site is on a hill. So when you put something on the picnic table it will slide off and tumble down the hill. I had my one year old with us who is learning how to walk and it was impossible for him to waddle around without tumbling toward the hill so we had the stress not letting him wander around. We also had to move our bed around a bit because it felt like we were gonna roll out of bed. Now we have a large 9 person tent. I think this campsite is better for smaller tents. Don’t get me wrong, the site was awesome, the hill was just a bit much for my family and next time we will pick a different site at purple haze. Maybe fallen tower. That looked sweet. Something more level.

We really loved staying at the Tiny house (cabin). My 3 year old son didn't want to leave. This was our 1st time camping at an off grid cabin and it was a cool experience. Everything inside the cabin worked. The lights, gas stove, wood stove and the water pump. Also, 1st time using a composting toilet. It worked out well. Outside, there's a fire pit, some chairs, picnic table, gas grill and a charcoal grill. We got to meet Darryl and Linda, and they were very welcoming.

We had a men's retreat at Peace Camp. Darryl's place is incredible. Fantastic sight with great cooking amenities for a large group. Highly recommended! Great guy too! We enjoyed visiting with him.

We were tent camping at Fallen tower and it was an amazing and peaceful time! Everything you need is only a short walk away in terms of firewood and anything you might’ve forgotten in the shop. The stars were amazing and there were some cats that stopped by plus a chicken.

Darryl has amazing campsites! We got in after dark and couldn't make it to solitude 6 but Darryl gave us free choice out of some other sites that were not being used! Solitude 6 is a good hike and not best for a lot of equipment but wagons are provided. Toilets are compost toilets so they are as you expect, but well maintained. Spigot is very nice to have. The oat fields next to our site shimmered with platinum in the moonlight. I would recommend purple haze acres and will likely come again. My biggest regret ia not offering Darryl a beer when he stopped by our site!

Site 6 Solitude
Loved solitude site 6! We were 4 friends camping, so we split the burden of climbing up the hill together. Both paths are a little wonky, but the path behind the woodshed is a little shorter and smoother, though you have to travel through Bullfrog site (it wasn’t occupied so we didn’t disturb anyone.) The water from the spiget is delicious, so we filled up our collapsible water container to have water at the site. There are vault toilets with no lights, so bring ur head lamp and wet wipes. Use the wagons with the wider wheels! No eggs for us, but Daryl was cheery and nice! Oh and just note that the trees hide the stars, so we walked out to the prairie to see them at night - incredible views

Site 2 Casey's Camp
We had a lovely campsite and Darryl was responsive and accommodating. He also recommended Holy Hill, which was not on our radar, and it was a highlight!
The website warns that it is a bit of an uphill hike to a few of the sites. Fortunately Darryl was happy to let us change sites. There were wagons, but getting our cooler and stuff up the hill would have been quite a challenge. It’s really about preference. If you are looking for privacy and a slightly rougher experience, this is a great spot. Sites are generously large and spread out. If you like more traditional car camping Kettle Moraine State Park campground is less expensive and the Ice Age Trail goes through the camp and it offers many beautiful sites.

This was our third time camping on Darryl’s land, and our second time staying at the tiny cabin at his stone ridge location. We were super impressed with the upgrades made since our last stay. It was clean, with clear instruction. Every time we stay there we drive away saying, “best stay yet!”

Tent camping at Purplehaze Acres was great! It was a relaxing retreat from the city that offered both a farm-style and woodland camping feel. We stayed at Site 3 Twisted Elm and it was nicely secluded from other sites, while still very accessible from the trail making it easy to haul gear up. The firewood for sale was a nice touch and the bathrooms were well kept. Overall a great time!
During the daytime we went to Pike Lake and hiked the Ice Age Trail to the observation tower which is worth checking out. The lake has a beach and large picnic/activity space as well which was fun. It was a little chilly but would be a great place for swimming/ water activities in the summer.

Another wonderful weekend at this tiny cabin! We appreciated the extra firewood already at the site and the addition of a little store for any small items you may have forgotten or need like bug spray, first aid kits, emergency ponchos, lighters, charcoal, etc etc.

Site 2 Casey's Camp
Darryl's land was a great spot to camp. From our site we could see both sunrise and sunset. We enjoyed having a fire pit and grill, as well as pit toilets nearby. I wouldn't recommend Casey's camp for anyone with heavy gear as the hike from the parking lot is a bit steep .

No complaints. Remember to bring bug spray, or you'll have to drive to Walmart to grab some. Because mosquitoes are plentiful out there. But I have zero complaints about the campsite or my experience at all.

We had a fantastic time at Peace Camp on Darryl’s property! He was a great host — very friendly, communicative, and welcoming. Our group of 10–15 people fit perfectly in the Peace Camp area, though it could easily accommodate 2–3 times that size if needed, without ever feeling cramped.
The Peace Camp section has everything you need for a great outdoor experience: a well-kept outdoor kitchen, fire pit, picnic tables, yard games, open space, and plenty of good tent spots. There’s also firewood available on the property, and town is just a short drive away if you need extra supplies.
Darryl encouraged us to explore his 50 acres, and it was clear he genuinely wanted us to relax and enjoy our time there. Overall, Peace Camp was the perfect spot for our group, and I’d highly recommend both the space and Darryl as a host.

My dog and I had a great experience tent camping at site 6 (solitude). There were good vibes all around from the other families camping there and the property is beautiful. I especially enjoyed the hike up to the campsite, listening to the birds, watching the fireflies in the field across from the parking area, and exploring the trails around the camping area. Darryl was welcoming, friendly, and responsive- especially for a last minute reservation. I left with a great sense of peace and hope to stay there again soon.

Purple haze acres was perfectly secluded, clean, up kept, and the host Daryll was very accommodating. The only thing I would say is that the camp is REMOTE so if your planning on motorcycling DONT. Make sure to drive

The property as a whole was a welcome respite from the fireworks that’s can get overwhelming in the city. We brought our dog and set up camp at site 3 which was perfect for our tent, but with a bit of a pitch would be challenging for a second tent. The trees kept us cool, the fireflies and the frogs were our fireworks and we loved it. The other campsites were occupied but we did not hear or see them. Darryl stopped by the site to welcome us while we were setting up camp. The privy was close by and served its purpose. We enjoyed our time at Purple Haze

We totally loved tent camping at the Firefly site! At the very end of the two track camp lane, it was private and provided a beautiful view. The site, tucked into the edge of the woods, provided some nice shade for the first half of the day and a relaxing vista of green on the other side for as far as the eye could see. A sturdy picnic table, fire ring, and fairly flat surface for pitching the tent were perfect for us. Potable water spigot, firewood, and an outhouse were available a short walk down the lane. Definitely want to camp here again!

I came with my kids for the weekend and this was a beautiful property to stay at, the hosts are super nice! Everything you need is available, toilets, water, firewood, picnic tables and a grill at every site! We will definitely back, it’s truly a hidden gem!

Darryl is fantastic and amazing what he has built by hand. He's always there to help you. I wonder about whether he inspects the cabin after someone checks out for the leave it better than you found it better policy. We were cleaning and the floor and carpet were really dirty. No vacuum, just a broom. And we swept Cobb webs out every where. It wasn't very clean and no electric outlets. The counter tops, sink and toilet seemed very clean. We cleaned out the fire pit as it was over flowing with ash. The 100foot walk from your car to the cabin is no joke. It's a steep walk up a steep hill that can be challenging at times. Especially muddy. Darryl helped us out with getting up and getting our gear up the hill. All in all, we had a fantastic, relaxing time and loved the place

I think this campsite has wonderful potential, especially for quieter weekends. We stayed over Memorial Day and it was not the experience we’d hoped for.
The campsite itself is beautiful- wildflowers, trees, fire pit, BBQ, picnic table. Near lots of lovely hiking. It was a challenge getting to it- if it rains, the two track and the steep hill you need to climb to get there are treacherous. The number of visitors overwhelmed the composting toilet and since there aren’t quiet hours, the partying and yelling well into the night. The water from the spigot had an oily film on it that made our drinks taste odd (we washed cups and tried multiple times to no avail), so we had to go buy water.
Overall, I think this campground has great potential for a non-holiday weekend. I would recommend instituting quiet hours, adding another toilet and adjusting the description of the two track and hill.
