The Northern Wisconsin State Fair is a unique celebration of community spirit and agricultural heritage, deeply rooted in the history of the Chippewa Falls area. Established in 1897, this fair was created to provide a local venue for showcasing the best in agriculture, horticulture, and the mechanical and household arts, making it a vital part of northern Wisconsin for over 120 years. The fair encompasses a 27-county district, where self-sufficient farming families proudly exhibit their livestock, including chickens, sheep, cows, rabbits, horses, and pigs, alongside their culinary talents in pies, breads, and canned goods. As Wisconsin evolved into a more urban landscape, the Northern Wisconsin State Fair adapted to reflect advancements in industry and technology, showcasing everything from Model Ts to satellite dishes. Today, the fairgrounds continue to celebrate individual and community achievements, with buildings that honor the rich agricultural legacy of the region. Every July, the Northern Wisconsin State Fair attracts over 100,000 visitors who come together to enjoy a variety of activities centered around agriculture, entertainment, and family fun. Young exhibitors display their skills with animals and projects, vying for the coveted purple Grand Champion ribbon. The fair also features performances from renowned national artists, including The Beach Boys, Martina McBride, and Joan Jett
