Brye Cabin and Bad Axe Camping

Lynn was so accommodating when it came to getting us to the campsite via the UTV as we had our party arrive at different times. The campsite was perfect and had all the little extras I really appreciate like a place to wash hands after using the outhouse and also having a grill, several tables and plenty of chairs! I would definitely recommend!

My sons and I thoroughly enjoyed our tent camping experience at Bad Axe. Site 1 is gorgeous and peaceful, the river is cool and clear, and the birding is extraordinary. All in all, it was a beautiful place to slow down, connect, and make memories.

Bad Axe Tent Glamping

We had a great stay here! Lynn was very helpful and accommodating. The property itself was really well maintained, secluded, and beautiful. We loved being right next to the creek. There were tons of hummingbirds and fireflies, and we actually didn't notice any mosquitoes at all. Would definitely recommend using the UTV assist to bring your gear down and back from camp. The hike is pretty steep and would be a little tough with a lot of gear.

We had a great stay with our kids and dog. Super quiet and secluded. Our dog ran around off leash and we loved all the space. The outdoor shower was cool, too.

I had the most scenic and peaceful weekend tent camping at the Bad Axe Tent Site 1 and plan to come back again. Lynn was a lovely host, prompt and personable. The campsite was well maintained and had *everything* you could want aside from your tent and provisions; pack light! The listing does a great job stating everything available - read it thoroughly! There is so much provided. The site itself was huge and very private - I didn’t see another person till Lynn camp to pick me up for pack out. Tons of what I call “Disney Princess wildlife” - rabbits, chipmunks, deer, and birds. The paths to walk the property were well maintained and the property is large, plenty of room to wander. I definitely recommend utilizing the UTV assistance for pack in and out, the path is well maintained but very steep and rocky making it strenuous for novice hikers. The sky views were perfect for stargazing. If you like bird song, babbling brooks perfect for listening to and splashing in, expansive skies, no cell signal, and privacy, this site is for you. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

One of the best campgrounds we've ever been to! Definitely recommend. Lynn was very accommodating and patient with us when we arrived later than expected. The campsites are beautiful and very private, and I highly recommend getting assistance with the UTV ride, especially if you have a lot of stuff with you. We'll definitely be back!

Camped at the Bad Axe camping site 2 and it was a great. The host even gave us an extra cooler to use because they saw we had alot of ice that needed storage but we didn’t have enough. I highly recommend using the UTV service for easy travel from and to your site. Lynn was very nice and welcoming. We enjoyed sitting in the creek to cool off. The creek was clean and very nice to bathe/swim in.

I loved tent camping on Cory and Lynn’s stream! I went during the week (Mon-Thurs), but it was very secluded - about a half mile’s hike from parking, and I only had one neighbor camping, who was far from eye- and ear-shot. I caught a few brown trout just feet away from my tent, and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite vacations I’ve ever had! Thank you Cory and Lynn!

We loved camping in Cory and Lynn’s campsite. The campsite was beautiful and has tons of special touches for a family to enjoy. The creek was awesome. The hike in was a little longer than we anticipated but it was good. We really enjoyed our time. We recommend getting help with the UTV.

We stayed at site #1, which is extremely beautiful! Lynn helped us get our gear to and from, but the site also has many helpful items already there (chairs, tables, axe, potable water, etc.). Highly recommend.

We had a great experience at Bad Axe! Lynn was clear with her communication and very accommodating. I’m glad that we booked the UTV ride in so that we didn’t have to carry our stuff down—this helped a lot. The campsites feel nice and private and the land is gorgeous. We couldn’t hear the highway and it was very peaceful with the sound of the stream. It was nice to use the hammock and chairs provided as well. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you, Lynn and Cory!

(Ridge top) We will definitely be back! The bad axe river was gorgeous and the site was clean, cozy, and there was a picnic table/fire pit. We had no trouble finding the place and enjoyed our stay. The river is a big hike down to get to, so next time we’d probably bring a backpack with snacks/water for more of a day trip down there but nonetheless we had a great time! Can’t wait to camp the other sites!

All we can say is WOW. The Ridgetop Campsite location is amazing. Secluded, quiet, and peaceful. Saw deer in the morning, listened to owls at night. Able to view a comet and the stars. Suggestion to guests: make sure you read the directions and location carefully. It will save you a few minutes of driving. This is an amazing location to stay at.

A great hike in experience

This is an amazing place for camping. I was blown away by the host-provided amenities and we'll definitely be going back. In this listing, "hike in" is not to be confused with "walk in". It's a good half mile from the parking area to the camp sites. Because we were prepped for a hybrid car-camp, we did opt for the UTV shuttle of our gear in and out of the valley. The sites along the Bad Axe river are beautiful.

Beautiful place full of black walnuts. Watercress grows in the Bad Axe that full of brown trout. Viroqua is a cute town .. we shall be back !

We have enjoyed Cory + Lynn's camp sites for three years now. The location alone is prime with its spacious woodlands, quiet trout stream and private camp sites. Each year we've seen improvements (including the toilets!!). We've appreciated the few camping materials provided (wash bin, soap, rags, spray, chairs, fire ring, first-aid, etc.) as it lightens our load as enthusiasts who brave the *steep* hill every year. We look forward to coming back once more!

This is a beautiful site that is spacious and private. There was some confusion about availability of firewood, but Lynn resolved it quickly and helpfully. My son got sick so we were only able to stay long enough to cook dinner, but it was a great site. I would definitely come back again in the future.

Peaceful Getaway

What a peaceful little nature getaway! I loved campsite #2. I checked out the other sites and they looked amazing as well. I loved being right next to the trout stream. Thexwater was cool, clear, and resfreshing and there were a lot of visible trout. We were able to forage some wild parsnips, mint, and watercress to go with dinner. My son loved collecting firewood from nature too. Lynn was extra helpful. The hike in and out was fun and added to our experience. We didn't realize how much extra stuff they were going to have at the site, but we were grateful for it all, especially the shovel, the axe, the potable water, and the wash bin. We will definitely go back again.

Just what I needed.

Cory and Lynn's valley is beautiful! I loved listening to the babbling brook and watching the birds. I was greeted by a hummingbird the minute I got out of my van. It rained the first night we were there, so I was very thankful for the large tarp. I was able to set my backpacking tent, two of the provided chairs and a table under the tarp and just relax and listen to the pitter-patter of the rain. We walked the valley and napped in the hammock. I a restorative weekend.

The site is at the end of a dead end road and felt very private, though there is a nearby house that seems like it may be a seasonal residence with a sign that dogs/kids may be playing. The camp itself is between a lot of mowed grass and an ag field, which was perfect for our dogs to run around safely but doesn't necessarily feel like you're "in nature" if that is your goal. The trail down to the creek was steep and a bit trecherous after the rain (muddy!) and leads down to a faster moving/rocky section which made us a tad bit nervous since our dogs could have gotten hurt if they jumped in, but further upstream it was calmer. If the goal of your trip is to be by water, I'd advise going for one of the streamside campsites instead of the ridgetop since the climb is a bit limiting- but if you're going for privacy, a view of the stars, and a more open environment for games for dogs/kids to play, the ridgetop was nice!
