Lovely spot along the river. Not terribly private, but everyone is friendly and kind! My pup had a lot of fun and got to ride on a kayak for the first time.

Great location right off the water. Plenty of launch space for paddle boards and kayaks. We tent camped so I can’t speak for the RV hookups but lots of space to rest/relax and let the dog run around. Fire pits very nice, quite a few neighboring campers but not noisy in the evening and no traffic noise once the sun went down. Very close to town for supplies and shops for anything we needed. Will definitely consider for future rentals when we’re in the area.

I hate to leave a negative review however this needs to put out there. We booked this site on short notice and arrived within an hour or booking to find the road leading to the site shutdown and closed to traffic by local authorities due to the river flooding over. The water was at least knee deep for hundreds of yards, basically could not see where or if it ended. We attempted to message and call the host for assistance immediately with no response and the his voicemail was full. Being late in the day we had to find another site which luckily we did. We attempted to contact the host everyday for a week to discuss this situation and voicemail is still full and txts via hipcamp go unanswered. We requested a cancellation and refund from hipcamp which was initially refused. We hope and pray that the host and his family are ok.

This was a great place to stay while enjoying some tubing/ kayaking on the Shenandoah river! Chris was a gracious host, who met us upon arrival, and gave us the lay of the land. He was generous enough to offer the use of his kayaks. We spent the day lounging in some tubes floating the river from the private river access. The full hookups for our camper were great to have. There is a nice little bathhouse as well.

overall we had a great time! unfortunately the water wasn’t working so we couldn’t hookup or shower, but we were able to hookup to electricity and use the toilet. location was great, right next to the river and close to downtown. hopefully the water will be good for the next person but it was still a good time!

Great weekend camping. Site was clean and exactly as described. Easy access to river where we put in kayaks and paddle boards. Chris sent us all the information we needed promptly. Would stay again!

i booked this trip because I wanted a private campsite away from any other campers. It's literally in somebodies front yard. we were kept up all night by traffic cause the site is right by a busy road. the site wasn't directly by the river, it was about 200 meters away from the parking and bath house on the other side of a road. there is a small area right by the river however we didn't set up a tent there cause we didn't want to have to carry all of our stuff back and forth.
honestly, my only complaint is that I paid a lot of money for a campsite that should've been about half the price. you're paying for a bathhouse in somebodies front yard. very noisy area on the weekends, nothing private about it. my friends were all disappointed with the trip and we left early.
in all fairness, the bathhouse was nice. however, I would have given it up to get one of the sites directly by the river. if you have an RV this is a decent place to camp. if you're in a tent I would not pay the same price
The host was responsive when I had questions. seemed like a nice guy.

Great spot to access city of Harpers Ferry and river activities! Can be noisy for tent camping given proximity to road, but plenty of space for multiple tents. River access for swimming is best to go past moulton park towards tubing businesses to a swimming hole that’s a quick drive and doable walking distance - take wooded trail to get to rocky outcrops for sunset views! Overall comfortable site and great location

Maybe it's me, or maybe it was the photos in ad. What I was expecting and what I saw when I arrived were two very different things. First, the photos gives the impression the campsite is right on the river bank - not so. The site is across the street and down a gravel drive which is almost invisible from the road. because the grass has grown over the gravel. A landmark or sign would have been helpful. econd, the river water at the "private kayak launch site" is stagnant with a top layer of pond scum. Fortunately there is a park on the water with a boat ramp down the street. No comms at all with Chris; there was no kayak and the touted Taj m'potty was locked. As mentioned by another reviewer, the black/gray tank dump is too far above the ground. There is no way the contents of the tanks would defy gravity to flow up and into the sewer pipe opening. The outside furniture was rustic and rusty, and the adjacent campsite (another owner I believe) 50 feet away looked like the trailer camp set where Ruth lives in "Ozarks." I had booked for five days but busted camp after two to find someplace better. I left $300 on the table but happy to take the loss to not stay there another 3 days.
My advice is beware. Ask Chris for some recent photos and a more realistic description of the campsite. If this was a $35 a nite campsite I would say you get what you pay for - but at $110 a nite, my expectations for paying a premium price were not met.

I cannot say enough about this trip. We had access to all hookups. We had a perfect fire pit and access to the river. We kayaked and cooked on-site and didn't want to leave the campsite. We recommend making the 10-mile drive to Harper's Ferry Brewing as well. Overall, it was a great area that I had not discovered before. The price was very reasonable as well.

We were a few tent campers on a quick weekend trip. Great mix of camping+convenience. The river is beautiful and lots of interesting terrain within an easy paddle. Bath house with fridge and A/C was very nice to have. Great communication from Chris. Can't wait to come back!

Chris’ site was a great location for exploring Harper’s Ferry, kayaking the river, and hiking the AT. The site was flat, private, and had a beautiful view of the river. A bonus was the bathhouse, which smelled great due to the cedar wood ceiling.

Our host was responsive and nice, and location was as expected. It was nice to be a very short walk to the water and it was helpful to have the outhouse. The fish were jumping li I would recommend thite for anyone looking to do car camping, primitive camping or camping with a small RV. Unfortunately for us, we had a 30 ft travel trailer that was extremely difficult to pull up close to the septic making it impossible for gravity to do its job draining the water. Also, the plumbing for the septic drain connection is too high above the ground. I guelt we were unable to use our RV shower and t that we now had to use the outhouse. While I applaud the cute name and marketing efforts to rename the out house, it was not the cleanest, the bathtub was pretty rough and they were lots of bugs in the tub. If you are looking for an outdoor camping experience and want to have the perk of a toilet and running water, this place is perfectly fine. I have ever have a wife and family who tend to appreciate more of a glamping lifestyle which is why we use our rv.
The power and water were helpful and convenient, unfortunately the septic was located too close to the house and was elevated too high above ground to work effectively. If you plan to use septic and have a large rv, be prepared to get creative. If we had a 15 ft or shorter rv, I think we would have had an easier time getting the RV close to the utilities, but because of the configuration of everything it was certainly a challenge.

Chris' land is private and picturesque with easy access to the river for kayaking. There are 2 fire pits, one by the campsite and one on the water's edge. Chris provides ample firewood for a small fee, there is also a full bath house onsite if you need one. All hookups are available for RV's. The site is lovely, we would highly recommend it. You'll be close to town, but feel a million miles away. We especially appreciated being able to bring our German Shepherd, she had a blast!

We really enjoyed our stay at this site. Loved the beautiful views and river access from which we could launch our kayaks, fish, and my son could look for frogs\toads etc.. Loved having the ‘Taj’ bath house complete with shower\tub and small fridge. Bath house was stocked with towels, shampoo, etc. The electric hookup, potable water, and firewood ($20\day, all you can use) on site were all very convenient. There was also 1 kayak on site that could be used, though we ended up just using the ones we brought.
Note, the lots there appear to mainly be long narrow pieces of land that have river access at one end, so you may see neighbors on either side if they are there, as we did Memorial Day weekend, but everyone we met was very nice and it still feels way more secluded than a campground.
Location-wise it was a short 10-12 min drive to Harper’s Ferry, and a 5-7 min drive to a mart where we could stock up on ice. We passed a bunch of wineries ~ 15 mins away, so may check those out next time. Would definitely come back.

Excellent Hipcamp River front haven

Easy to book and outstanding communications. The main amenity is the shed. Very clean and it has a full bath with tub and shower, sink, toilet and small frig. It also has heat and air conditioning. If you camp with someone that needs facilities, this place will make them happy. Electrical and water hookups were stable and in a great spot. We did not use the sewer hookup but it is in a great spot and clean. Two nice very large trash bins are on site. One for regular trash and one recycle bin. Very nice level gravel parking ramp area. Nice fire pt with a great supply of dry wood for a reasonable price. There is another fire pit just in front of the site across the small road just by the river. They provide a wheel barrel if you need to haul wood to the river site. We throw axes so we were pleased to find an axe target on the site. Neighbors are very nice but use care not to stray onto the adjoining properties as the properties are very long down to the river but narrow. The river is calm in the area so it is very safe and fun to kayak or fish right at the site. Public boat ramp only a few hundred yards away for larger boats or jet skies. Excellent time during our stay and would recommend to everyone. Even more so if you want to enjoy the river for water sports.
