NRR River Hideaway Campground
Myself and our whole group had such a great experience at North River Retreat. First of all, our host John could not have done better job. Prior to the trip he quickly provided information and directions to the campground, the day of the trip he meant up with us right on and time and took us the campground to sign in and give us a tour of the area. He also stopped by the next day to ensure everything was going well and checked in after the trip that we got out and home safely. As for the area, it is very private (which is what my group wanted) and includes lots of areas for hiking and there was stocked pond close by for fishing. The campground itself has plenty of room for tents and a screened in porch that includes the fire pit, propane grill, and other useful supplies in case you forget any (John just kindly asks to send a few bucks when you mail back the keys if you use any).
We highly recommend North River Retreat and my group already can't wait to start planning another trip their and maybe taking advantage of the clay pigeon shooting area next time. Thanks again John and looking forward to going back!!

NRR River Hideaway Campground
North River Retreat was perfect for our group. The covered pavilion was amazing and came in handy when some light rain showers passed through. John was a delightful host and very accommodating. He showed us around the property when we first arrived and made sure we were comfortable with how everything worked. John's passion for nature is contagious, he gave tours of the property and talked through all the wildlife that was on his land. We definitely plan to come back to North River Retreat. It is a wonderful balance of authentic camping and basic luxuries. I love that John only rents out to one group at a time, it allowed us to feel like it was just our group and the trees.

NRR River Hideaway Campground
I can't say enough about the NRR campground. John was an excellent host - very easy to get in touch with and accommodating throughout the entire stay.
His campground was incredibly clean and stocked with just about everything you could need. You almost didn't even need to bring anything along.
We had a great time hiking around, swimming and wading in the river, and fishing at the nearby pond. If I wasn't moving out of state shortly after our trip, I would be back again in a heartbeat. Thank you, John for a great weekend!

NRR River Hideaway Campground
This was a beyond perfect campground for us! My husband and I have a dog who gets really anxious at regular campgrounds, where there's lots of activity and strangers and other dogs nearby, so having a TOTALLY private place to camp, cook, relax, and hike was amazing for us. The campsite is ideal, and comes with practically everything you could need. The shelter has a huge gas grill (John provides the gas), a firepit, a campstove, two picnic tables, and tons of chairs. There's a clean little outhouse, a hammock, and plenty of space to spread out. John was incredibly accommodating and just a solid guy all around. We'll be back!

NRR River Hideaway Campground
Fantastic private location for a weekend outdoors. John has quite the setup with a gas grill, fire pit, picnic tables, chairs, well-kept latrine, and lots of other supplies. Way more luxuries than we are used to and such a treat! The campsite is very close to a pond that our pup enjoyed playing in and a short walk to the river where we would have swam if it was a bit warmer. We enjoyed wandering around the property and got a decent hike in since its quite large. The drive in is a bit rough and steep so some vehicles might not be able to make it. We'd like to come back with a bigger group as its unusual to find such a great spot that could host several tents with no other neighbors.

NRR River Hideaway Campground
North River Retreat was absolutely wonderful. John is the nicest person in the world and our group of five had a great time fishing in the lake, swimming in the river, hanging out underneath the pavilion and shooting clays with John at the Matrix. We brought two dogs and it was so nice to have them run around and it not bother anyone else because John only books this to one group at a time. Everything about the weekend was easy and perfect, the rain on Friday night barely affected us because of the great pavilion, and I would highly recommend staying here!!

NRR River Hideaway Campground
What a gem this place is! If you're looking to get away from it all you've found it in NRR. We were looking for a site unlike the normal campgrounds found in our area, which tend to be crowded with campsites too close together. You won't find anything like that at NRR! We were the only one's in the area and it was fantastic. We didn't have to abide by any "quite hours" (which was great cause we can be a rowdy bunch!)
The campsite was very clean and well stocked. The pavilion was a life saver for the weekend we camped out; It ended up raining a good chunk of the time we were there, but the fun didn't stop thanks to the pavilion! There was a stocked pond close by and we had a great time fishing and our dogs enjoyed swimming. The river near by was too cold for us to swim in due to the rain, but we can't wait to come back during warmer weather to take a dip.
I can't say enough good things about our host, John. He was tremendously helpful and friendly. He assisted in bringing our supplies to the site and kept in contact with us to make sure we had everything we needed.
Needless to say we are really looking forward to staying here again!
