The Lost River Retreat Center provides comfortable accommodations year-round for groups of all sizes. We handle all the details so you can focus and retreat from your daily life. This lodge style camp provides total private oasis for you and your guests with up to 15 bunk style guest rooms with private baths, a large common Main lodge with commercial kitchen, outdoor pavillion overlooking a natural spring, spring-fed pond, open fields and forested trails. Situated on 42 acres adjoining the George Washington National Forest, the Lost River Retreat Center has been a gathering place for over 60 years. Our expansive property allows for up to 70 guests in our rustic, yet comfortable guest rooms in two separate buildings, The Main Lodge and the North Lodge. Each room has up to 4 bunk style accommodations, holding up to 6 guests per room, with private bathrooms with large showers, rustic Pine walls and ceilings. Our properties outdoor spaces include a wooded covered outdoor pavilion with stone fireplace and deck overlooking a spring-fed stream, pickle ball/tennis court, basketball court, slides and swing sets for the kids, a volleyball court, a spring fed pond and acres of open fields for all kinds of outdoor fun. Secluded and quiet, we are located nearby Trout Pond Recreation area that has a 17 acre lake with sandy beach for swimming, fishing and kayaking. We are located only a few miles north of the Lost River State Park with ample hiking and horseback riding, and fantastic views from the Cranny Crow Overlook. If you don't want to venture far, we have several hiking trails through the property, including two trails that take you to the top of our property for a spectacular view of the western part of the Ridge and Valley Appalachians with a tower overlook. Our property has been host to large-scale events such as weddings, family reunions, community events, religious retreats, and many other gatherings over the years. We host only one group at a time, ensuring complete privacy and a fully personalized experience. Whether you’re planning a family reunion, a retreat, or a special event, this tranquil venue provides everything you need for an unforgettable stay. Our facilities include two large lodges nestled in the mountains, marked hiking trails across the 42-acre property, and The Overlook Tower, which provides panoramic views of the George Washington National Forest. Guests can enjoy a large meadow for recreation, a peaceful spring-fed pond perfect for meditation, and abundant wildlife throughout the property. Additional features include a bonfire ring, picnic benches, multiple streams, and an outdoor worship area with an open-air chapel, wood-burning fireplace, and a small waterfall in the forest. The retreat center offers heated, carpeted guest rooms, each with a private bathroom. Guests provide their own linens, towels, pillows, and toiletries, though linens can be arranged for an additional fee. The center accommodates a minimum of 10 people and a maximum of 50 people. Available amenities include Wi-Fi access in the Main Lodge, which also features a large fireplace area, a dining area, and a separate gathering/recreation room (38 x 18 ft). The Main Lodge offers five guest rooms with a total capacity of 20 people. The North Lodge boasts a larger meeting room (28 x 24 ft) and ten guest rooms, each with a set of three single beds and one full-size bed, accommodating up to 40 people. There is also a large kitchen available for use for an additional $250, providing flexibility for meals during your stay. A $1,000 damage deposit is required at the time of booking, which will be returned upon checkout, provided there are no issues with the property. Located in the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia, bordering the 60,000-acre George Washington National Forest, the retreat center is just a two-hour drive from Washington, DC. Nearby outdoor attractions include the Trout Pond National Recreation Area, Lost River State Park, and hiking trails such as the Great North Mountain Trail System.
