Relax and rejuvenate on our 190 acre mountain paradise - a unique WV experience offering 5+ miles of hiking trails, fishin' ponds, mountain top patio, dark skies star gazing, wildlife watching. Dry Run Spirits moonshine distillery is on site. Ask for a tasting of apple brandy and maple moonshine. Enjoy a digital detox - no internet here, and ATT reception only at the lodge. Each of our lodging spaces is set apart from others (the barn cabin and the solar snug cabin are the closest at about 100' apart) and are unique, varying from a luxury apartment to an off grid solar cabin. Each cabin has a fire pit and picnic table. Many amenities are available such as the use of the event kitchen (available most of the time), 900 sq ft picnic pavilion, free spring water, free firewood, coffee provided. Inquire about purchasing breakfast, a backpack lunch, a charcuterie sampler, or non alcoholic mixers to make a cocktail with your bottle from Dry Run Spirits' apple brandy or moonshine (on site).. We are about 1 hr 15 mins from Harrisonburg VA, and about 3 1/2 hours from the Washington DC metro area, Richmond VA, or Pittsburgh PA. Our closest town, Franklin WV, is 10 mins away. Seneca Rocks, nRocks, Spruce Knob are within an hour's lovely drive. Monterey VA and the gorgeous Blue Grass Valley are within 30 mins. Dolly Sods, Blackwater Falls, Green Bank Observatory, Canaan Valley are superb day trips. The Thorn Creek Wildlife Management area, renowned for trout fishing, is 10 mins away. We are on a scenic bicycle / motorcycle route. Bonus - The 1800s Ananias Pitsenbarger Farm with its 16 remaining buildings, an historic district on the National Register of Historic Places, is on property - please explore it! It was a self sustaining Appalachian homestead. The Pitsenbargers were hard workers, but also quite colorful characters who employed witch-doctoring, used healing herbs, and enjoyed entertaining, playing music, and making and drinking lots of hard cider. The main road to the Harrisonburg VA area went right by their house and they had a lot of visitors who took a break from their travels and their work to visit, i.e. "loaf." As a result, in the 1800s locals called the property "Loafer's Glory." We think the name is still perfect for the place! Come on out and relax - "loaf" a little bit!

Loafer's Glory mtn cabin apartment
Beautiful and great location
Gorgeous property and accommodations! The apartment was spacious, well decorated, had beautiful views, and had all the comforts you need including a heated mattress pad which was so cozy that I’m buying for my own house. Jeff and Teresa were very helpful and welcoming. We tried a tasting at his distillery on site and learned all about the process. The skies at night are so dark you can see the Milky Way, yet it’s a short drive to town for stores and restaurants. I would absolutely return and recommend this place to anyone!

Loafer's Glory Private RetroRetreat
We had a lovely weekend at the Retro cabin. We loved the peaceful and beautiful scenery and the wonderful hiking trails. There is no light pollution so you can really see the stars at night. Jeff was generous with his time and gave us a tour of his distillery, which was really interesting.

Loafer's Glory Rustic Camp Cabin
My partner and I had an amazing weekend on Jeff & Teresa's land. It was our first time in West Virginia and didn't know what to expect but this place had it all. We wanted something a bit cozier than a busy campground, to not be completely alone out in the middle of nowhere without access to water and other basics, while still being surrounded by nature and mountains. This ended up being the perfect match for both of us. Jeff and Teresa (and dog Xena) are excellent and very kind hosts that put a lot of thought into making it a great experience for visitors. Jeff makes incredible homemade apple brandy and it made a delicious souvenir. The stargazing from outside the cabin was also fantastic. We were sad to leave and are already hoping to come back in the Fall!

Loafer's Glory unique barn cabin
Jeff and Teresa were friendly, and attentive to our needs. The cabin was unique and charming, and nicely decorated. The kitchen had a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and was stocked with convenient items for cooking/ grilling. The fire pit had a removable grate. The view from the deck was a nice meadow lined with maple trees, and we enjoyed watching the deer. I can't say enough about the nicely maintained hiking trails. The views were absolutely stunning. We also enjoyed the self-guided tour of the historic buildings on the property.
