Hilltop Escape stands out as a unique campground due to its rich history and its prime location, offering direct access to the renowned Outlaw and Hatfield trails. Originally owned by the Hodges family, this beloved spot has been a cherished retreat for many years. Carol and Roger managed the campground from the early 2000s until 2017, transforming it from a simple open field for tent camping and dining into a welcoming home away from home for countless visitors. For years, the campground's restaurant gained fame for its signature Redneck Burger, a hefty one-pound delight that attracted adventurers from near and far. To earn a spot on the Wall of Fame, guests had to conquer the challenge of finishing the burger, fries, and a drink—a popular draw for ATV enthusiasts during their trips. In early 2017, my husband and I took the exciting step of purchasing Hilltop Escape after spending many years camping on the property and falling in love with the area. The campground's unbeatable access to scenic trails was a major factor in our decision. There's nothing quite like gathering around a campfire at night, waking up to the thrill of riding, and soaking in breathtaking views that stretch for miles. Today, Hilltop Escape offers permanent sites for those seeking their own slice of paradise
