Experience a camping getaway right along the scenic Tygart River, nestled at the base of the Dam. Enjoy the convenience of modern amenities including flush toilets and running water. We offer a limited number of tent campsites for your comfort. Additionally, you can opt to rent the charming Pallet House on a daily or weekly basis. In the near future, we will be delighted to provide bait, firewood, snacks, and refreshing beverages for purchase. It's important to note that alcoholic beverages must be enjoyed within the designated campsites. To enhance your camping experience, there's no need to go through a check-in process upon arrival. Simply make your way directly to your campsite and start enjoying the tranquility of nature. Our camping spot is also fondly referred to as The Bait Shack.

Pallet House

Quirky · Sleeps 4

The Pallet House was framed by using recycled pallets which otherwise would have went into the landfill. This design is used in third world countries to house a family of four. There is a sleeping loft which will fit two adults comfortably. Under the sleeping loft is the dining area with a table that will fold up and away for storage. Next to the back door there is another drop down table suitable as a cooking and food prep area, fold up and there is room for a sleeping cot or two. Next to the front door is a small room suitable for you own portable porta potty or just use it anyway you like.

Chestnut camp has beautiful views of the flowing water coming off the dam. Nestled in its own private area, this spot is beautiful and secluded.

The Dam View Camp has a nice view of the waterfall coming over the dam. It's surrounded by woodlands for privacy but you still have a clear view of Tygart River. This is a beautiful shaded site that you may never want to leave.

Spacious site with fire pit. A wonderful site to pitch your tent and enjoy nature for the night. Amazing views of the water from the campsite.

Rocky top is the perfect place for the elevated feel you are looking for. Nestled deep in the wood whilst still overlooking the Tygart River, this campsite is ideal for a weekend getaway.

The Willow Camp is surrounded by woodlands for privacy but you still have a clear view of Tygart River. So sit around your campfire and watch the kids fish. This is a beautiful shaded site that you may never want to leave.

Chestnut Camp

Ultimately, I stayed in Sycamore. This was an accommodation made when I met Marshal so I could set up my hammock tent. The site is very large, and waking up right by a river was a real treat! Restrooms and water were sufficient. I looked at Chestnut and a few other sites when I first arrived, and noticed all seemed well maintained. Pillar and Marshall were very kind, definitely good people. 9/10 I will certainly visit again soon!

Rocky Top

Happy Camper Campground is a lovely little campsite with a location that can't be beat! You can see the dam and the river from the campsites, and it is awesome falling asleep to the sound of the water flowing out of the damn. If you like fishing, the river is a few steps away and loaded with trout, I saw a bunch of people fishing, kayaking, and tubing! The bathroom was fine for the weekend, we didn't use the shower but heard it worked well enough! We did get some rain which made the trail to our campsite a little hard to navigate, and we slipped in the mud a few times. I contacted Marshall and he came and helped fix up the path right away! We really appreciated that! With a few improvements to the trail / stairs I think this campground would be awesome and definitely worth coming back to! Marshall was super helpful and responsive and he was willing to do anything to help us have a great time!

Chestnut Camp

Pilar has a few sites set up right next to the dam in Grafton. It was pretty quiet except for the water coming through the dam, but that was kind of peaceful! The sites are maintained and spacious. The water and toilet are just a short walk away.

Willow Camp

Perfect access to water. Quiet camp. Really enjoyed our stay. Only suggestion would be a shower area and better access to the spot since it's up a steep hill!

This is a fantastic spot to stay at: right next to the river, the river is stocked with trout (when I was there), views of the dam, at the end of a quiet street with no traffic. Looking around the area, you’d be hard pressed to find a better area. I was driving Congress through and didn’t have my rods, but now that I know of this spot, I’ll be back! They are just getting started (at time of review) and I have the utmost confidence that this spot will only get better. The host was accommodating, gracious, and responsive. Thanks everyone!
