Hello Campers! Our property is 16.5 acres, two of which are along the Tygart Valley River and the rest are within forest canopy on the mountainside. We are in the low foothills of the Appalachia. We have 4 riverfront sites and we are continually changing our space around This year we will be adding a tiny house on site 4 and a sweatlodge with soaking pool on Site 1 additional camping spots along the property near outhouse
Each site is equipped with a steel fire pit/grill and a picnic table. We have been busy building hiking trails and more primitive campsites on the 14.5 acres on the hillside across the road from the riverfront for all to enjoy.
Step outside your tent and enjoy natures bounty —outdoor activities including fishing, kayaking, hiking, bird watching are all at your fingertips and much more. There are 300+ acres of public land less than one mile away with miles of ATV and hiking trails and stocked ponds. If you're a fan of waterfalls just 4 miles down river is Arden Falls, one of our areas best kept secrets. The Tygart Valley River is one of the top kayaking rivers in the country. Audra State Park is less than 20 minutes away with lush forest trails with caves to explore. Well known hiking trails such as Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, and the Dolly Sods are all within an hour drive. Go to Nelson Rocks for the ultimate climbing experience on the Via Ferrata.
We are the perfect place to come to explore the wild beauty of West Virginia without the crowds. A hidden gem!

Emily's campsite offers a serene escape with easy access to the river and plenty of privacy. Guests consistently praise the friendliness and helpfulness of the hosts, Emily and Dusty, who go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. The location's natural beauty stands out, with breathtaking river views and starry skies providing the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. While most feedback is overwhelmingly positive, the occasional challenge, such as finding the site or dealing with weather, is noted.
I loved this site! What beautiful access to the water, easy drive to town, lots of privacy, and well
Maintained space. The hosts are very kind and knowledgeable- they even helped us fix our canopy tent. I’d go back here again and again.
Great overnight stay traveling from the West Side to the East Coast. Great communication's, responsive and accomodating. Beautiful location right on the Tygard River Valley. Dusty stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed and provide some local insight, history & reccomendations! 100% loved the location, vibe & easy access! Highly Reccomend.
This is our third year coming back to Earth Sky and as always, we had a great time. Emily is always very responsive. The campsites are spacious and the area is peaceful and quiet. There are paths down to the river for easy paddle boarding or swimming. We also like to take a trip down the road to Arden Falls to hang out for a bit. This year, there were bundles of firewood at the campsite for $10 each which was super convenient. Hope to return again next year!
What a gorgeous location! It had rained heavily right before our trip so the river was a bit muddy at the site, but within a 5 minute drive we found a beautiful section in the river to laze about on the rocks. Emily was extremely accommodating and an excellent communicator.
The site was wonderful. Had plenty of space while also feeling private. Directly on the river for easy access and swimming. Would highly recommend! We had our 2 small kids with us and it all worked out well. The site is also close enough to town that you can get there in 10 mins if you need anything.
it was beautiful and relaxing the host was very personable and they were very accommodating loved the conversation fire pit and we will be coming back !!
Very beautiful location. You can tell that Emily and Dustin really care about how the campsites are presented. Very easy access to the river and all sites have access to a well kept outhouse. Emily and Dustin were able to provide some suggestions of local spots to explore, and Dustin started a communal bonfire on our last night. Will definitely be back!
Had a great time tent camping and fishing at EarthSky! Even when the weather wasn't on our side, the views and tranquility were. Will definitely be returning.
4 women, 2 kids (under 6), 2 dogs. We felt safe, the location was easy to find GPS took us right to it. Spots were large, flat and level. 2 other campers there same time as us but it didn’t feel crowded. Excellent access to the river for kayaking and just a few miles from the falls. I was worried the kids would be trying to get in the water the whole time but the bank is high enough it discouraged them from going down.
Good open space for using our solar panels and the stars were amazing. The fireflies looked like a drone show!
It is roughin’ it tho- prepare your party for the outhouse if you’ve got some folks who are used to the finer things 🤣
We usually stay at the state park near by but this is a superior spot and you don’t have a million people to share the experience with! Emily and her family came down to make sure we had everything we needed and gave us some tips on the area. Will definitely be back!
We were in flux with our travel plans and Emily was able to accommodate us last minute. We got our 16ft camper down the beautiful country road nestled up to the Tygart River. We traveled all over to "Party Rock" at Arden Falls to Seth Burton Disc Golf Course and Dorsey's Knob. Gorgeous untouched country!
Great spot next to the river. Road to camp was smooth gravel and can be accessed by car without issue. Site was well kept and grass was neatly mowed. View of the river was also nice. About 4 miles from Philippi, so running into town isn't a major undertaking.
This place was beautifully kept and manicured. The space was wide open and right on the water. Site includes basic toilet, option to buy wood, panoramic views of the sky and peaceful surroundings. It is a lovely place for those seeking peace.
Very private location; well organized and kept. Located along the wide, gentle, tree-covered banks of the river, you will feel one with nature. Firewood available for purchase. Sites 1-4 are all located on the river adjacent to each other, all very similar, spaced comfortably. Site 1 has the opportunity to locate under a massive shade tree. The other 3 sites will be your only ‘non-nature’ view. Owner responded quickly and cordially. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to stay on your property Emily.
We loved Earth Sky and so did our dogs. The weather was perfect and the stars so magical. The hosts were super welcoming and informative about the area. We will definitely be back again this summer and hope to bring our kayaks and more friends.
This was such a great place for me to stay!! No one was around and it was just me and this amazing river! I CAN’T wait to go back. Staying here was my favorite part of my whole trip!😊
The hosts of this Hipcamp are always so kind and considerate. This was our second time staying here, and we booked to take our engagement photos. They let us set up some vintage furniture on the property and everything. We love this site!
The property is well maintained and beautiful. Emily and Dusty are great host and everyone around is very friendly. This was our 2nd trip here and we will be back again.
We enjoyed Site #4. On end, no one drove by us. On bank of rive.r. little path through over growth to the river. Campsites side by side. Luckily only one quiet person next door to us for one of the two nights.
Def offf main road, 3 miles. About 15 minutes to town of Phillippi, WV.
Owner came first night with wood. Get what ya need then...like 4 big bundles for two nights. We ran out with just two. Enjoyed the moonrise and stars!!!!
Our site was just beautiful!! Surrounded by the river with its rocky banks, native flowers, and a huge chestnut tree that made a natural canopy for our picnic table. It was so peaceful, yet so alive!
I would recommend Earth Sky Campground to everyone!
A buddy and I were both a little wound up with the daily grind. (Work, Kids, sports). We were looking for a quiet place to disconnect and enjoy being away from it. Earthsky worked out great, riverside, flat sites, and limited sites. We were there for 3 nights and had the whole place to ourselves. Dusty came down and introduced himself and gave us the run down. Will definitely come back.
