Jura Riverside RV Site
Very Relaxing Time
We enjoyed the remoteness of the site without giving up some modern-day conveniences. Walking along the Buckhannon River with our dog was very relaxing. The hosts were helpful when we needed some help but left us alone otherwise.
If you stay, definitely wander the 3 miles down the road to Helvetia and eat at The Hutte. Best make a reservation!

Boondocking Riverside Campsite
Warning Ripoff!!
The listing did NOT state how close the campsite was to the road. Got there and realized that it was literally a crappy slanded ditch a few feet from the road not even fenced off at all. While we were there multiple cars and ATVS passed by. No way could we have a private relaxing evening there. We left and camped elsewhere. The listing showed beautiful private campsites and cabins which Im sure they have elsewhere however there was only ONE photo of the actual campsite i booked and from that angle it looked just as private and beautiful as the rest. It definitely was not!! Straight up false advertising! What an ABSOLUTE RIPOFF to pay 50 bucks to sleep on the side of the road!!

Boondocking Riverside Campsite
Peaceful Spot
We camped at an RV site. It's important to know that if you're tenting the only toilet is in the schoolhouse at the end of the driveway. It's a peaceful spot by the river and very convenient if visiting the cute little Swiss hamlet of Helvetia just down the road.

Appenzell Riverside RV Site
Loved the Appenzell River Side! It had hookup and Starlink wifi which was very reliable. Very scenic and a covered picnic table in the back. There are horses and dogs on the site, so if you are an animal lover, than you have come to the right place. The river was closeby and great to cool off in.
Make sure to bring your own toilet as there is none close to the camp site.
We brought our own bikes and explored nearby Helvetia, a tiny historic village (with a museum, an old cemetery and country store and restaurant) that settlers from Switzerland founded in the 1900s.
Robert, the host, was very nice and responsive.

River's Edge RV Site
Living Large On A Farm
If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to do it! Full hook-ups & superb wi-fi (not suitable for streaming - great for email, wifi calling & surfing). Your site will back up to a river where you can fish & even kayak during certain times of the year. When we were there in May, the water level was too low to kayak. The only fish my husband caught were bait fish. We enjoyed having a fire pit and covered picnic table at our site to come home to after chasing waterfalls in the surrounding area. Expect some difficulty backing big rigs (40' plus) into your assigned spot. The turns are tight and there are obstacles. My husband did it just fine but he did have to turn the RV around and back down the driveway. You should know, nothing is close-by to this location. We drove at a minimum one hour each way to do just about anything including laundry & grocery shopping. Some of our hikes were over 2 hours away. Most roads are windy, narrow, gravel and slow going. Your GPS will take you on the craziest non-passable routes. Lack of cell service is sure to leave you frustrated at least once. A few final things you should know before booking... this is a working farm. There are families living on property, kids, cars, free roaming dogs, fenced horses, and all the "stuff" that goes along with farm style living; yes, ticks. We found two in the RV during our 2 week stay that probably came in on the dog. And the fences are electric. Our pup learned that the hard way.
