Our property once had a vibrant back woods community. During the Civil War a Union garrison was up the creek and traveled through here to the river. In the 1800's the Bradey Family Farmed here. There was a Church that has long since burned down. This place is great for metal detecting! We moved here in 2018, there was nothing else but a open well, fields and woods. We live in a trailer and are building a farm. There's chickens, rabbits, and pigs, that you can meet! Learn more about this land: We are a small, mostly off grid homestead farm with chickens, ducks, pigs, and bunnies, located 1.25 miles off the paved road, over 2 miles from the nearest residence. Our hideaway farm is 80 acres centered on the convergence of two babbling creeks, in a valley between three mountains. We are happy to teach you about our homestead lifestyle or set your campsite and just relax. We practice permaculture and follow organic farming practices. Our Main Circle is where our bonfires, cabana, and home trailer is. You are welcome to camp at the Main Circle where we have electricity or you can camp elsewhere.  Campers are encouraged to camp at Kolb Field along Coon Creek, under a great-grandfather walnut tree or hike the mountain and set camp secluded away from everyone. We have a public dirt road that is seldom traveled through the property, we do suggest having an SUV or 4x4 when coming but, regular cars can get here and we can help you get to your site in our pick up truck. RVs and non-4x4 cars can only get to the camp area during dryer times of the year, please ask if you have a RV. If you have a car that can't get to Kolb Field because of high water, we do have other areas you can camp at. Our farm is a great destination for overland camping and getting your pick up truck a little dirty!  Because we are mostly off grid we do ask that what you pack in please pack out, take your trash with you. Be sure you bring your own mess kit and cup. We prefer that you use aluminum cans for your beverages so we can recycle them for you, we can not recycle plastic or glass. Plus we like to be sure there not broken bottles left behind so we can be bare foot! We are very dog friendly. You are welcome with your dog. Let us know if you want to play with our happy dogs, and want to have them around your camp!  We ask that you keep your dogs tied or maintain control of your dog. Our three dogs are free roaming, they keep predators away and may lead your dog off too far. If you do let your dog off the lead we are not responsible if they get lost. That being said, our dogs love to play with guests and we are always happy to let you and your dogs interact with them! If you feel this may be a problem for you please let us know and we will leash them so not to be a bother you and your dogs. Don't hesitate to ask us to tie up our dogs, we want you and your pooch to enjoy our property .  (But they do need to patrol at night.) Please don't feed our dogs or other animals unless you ask us first, thanks! We LOVE to Bar-B- Que! We offer on weekends and holidays to join us for BBQ dinner at the Main Circle for a small cost per plate, buffet style. We will be creating a Farm to Fork open air restaurant in the near future.  Everything, as much as possible, is homemade from scratch (and quite delicious if you ask anyone). Our own BBQ rubs, sauce, we cut wood from our forest for our smoking wood chips, we even grow our own pigs and chickens! Be sure to book the Extra 'Time with the Animals' to see how we grow our own. Holidays are some of the best times to visit if you like to socialize around a camp fire with a beer and good eats. Likely you'll get to meet some of our local hillbilly friends too. Below is a schedule of some of special nights... Memorial Day, (and all other Patriotic Holidays) we have a discount code for 50% off for all Military, and First Responders! Nik is a Volunteer Firefighter, so special love for the thin red line.  Ask us for it before booking! June 20th / Gassaway Days, Anniversary of West Virginia 1865, Our local town has a big street festival, car show and live music, super fun! 4th of July Week / Freedom Week, Ten days from the Friday before to the Sunday After the 4th, one day for each of our 10 Amendments in the Bill of Rights. We try to do daily themes for each Amendment. Of course there will be fire works!!! Labor Day Weekend, Union Workers get a 50% discount. We have a discount code for 50% off, ask us for the code before booking. Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed! Halloween, Great to play hide and seek in the woods and scare the crap out of your kids! Thanksgiving / Deer Hunting Season, You can come have a BBQ'd Turkey dinner with us with all the trimmings!  Deer Hunting season 2020 is Nov. 25th to Dec. 7th (you will see an increase in price since we are so busy) Please be aware that the holler is very active with hunters and our friends. It's a great time to experience West Virginia local culture and learn about hunting. You must be tolerant and comfortable with people with firearms and deer that have been harvested and being butchered for the freezer. We will teach you about deer processing if you like (see Extras). Safety is always first on everyone's minds here and everyone that hunts here are land owners or family that have been hunting here for many, many years.   INSTANT BOOKINGS and SAME DAY, Please take note, we may miss your message because we may be out on the property and not be connected. If we don't respond don't fear, the directions are accurate, please see the map. You are welcome even if we don't get right back to you, come on down and see us!  Covid-19 Certification Note: We expect that all guests set their site with the maximum space possible from other guests. Kolb Field, our central camping area is about a half an acre. We have areas that you may camp where you can be isolated from other guests if you choose. All Guests are welcome to be social in our Main Circle common area, we ask that you practice basic social distancing. Hand sanitizer is available at all out houses and are cleaned frequently. There is a hand wash station at our well with soap.

Best time!
Nick and Beth are awesome people and very helpful the whole way for our trip. They really go out of their way to make sure their guests feel welcome and that we sure did! We brought our kids, a almost five year old, four year old and two year old, and they welcome all of us during the evening to watch and help feed their animals. The kids had such a blast just exploring and we loved just enjoying the company and the slow pace they offer! Come as guests and leave as friends!

Beautiful camping, awesome people
Beth and Nik are the best hosts. They are incredibly responsive, extremely kind and go out of their way to be welcoming and hospitable. Just great people! Their property feels remote, I was tucked away in a field deep in the forest. My tent was set up above the stream. The way they had mowed give me a little tiers down to the stream for hammock, a spot for eating/ cooking and lying on the big rock looking at stars at the stream bed. I rode bicycle and enjoyed a peaceful ride on the new rails to trail along the river. You could even rent a bike from Nik and Beth’s new bike shop! They even have hiking trails off the property. I loved my stay and would definitely go back.

Great place!
We stayed here on a little overlandimg trip. This property is definitely off the beaten path and in the middle of no where! Which is what we wanted!!! Nick was great to talk to, a great host and came to hang with us in the evening for a bit to swap stories. We had constant rain the entire night stay so we couldn't appreciate the land as we would of liked so we will have to come back! We came in to the property through the route that is the creek which was an awesome route. When we left we went the most difficult way which was even a struggle with a built Jeep on 37" tires (this is the route not recommended and we had to use some recovery gear to get through). This property has quite an exciting journey to get to and is so peaceful, definitely worth stopping at for the night!!!

Excellent Private Camp Site
Camp site was amazing, plenty of private open space and a gentle flowing creek adjacent to camp. Nik and Beth were very accommodating, communicated well, prepared and shared an amazing meal with us too. Will definitely recommend and our group will be returning next year. Thanks!!

This is such a cool Overlanding spot! Love the off road drive in and the field we stayed in had a nice fire pit. Sleeping in our off road camper was so quiet on this property! The hostess was so sweet and accommodating! We will be back!

Overlander Review
Another fun stay in the holler! We brought in 5 trucks of overlanders for just one evening and had quite the sky of stars. We brought our own firewood and toilet to use but the site had plenty of wood and bucket for biological breaks. Thanks for having us again!

Secluded Homestead Great Hosts
Nik and Beth are the best hosts I’ve ever stayed with on hipcamp. They have a long gravel drive that can be quite steep at times so make sure your car can handle that. Our campsite was near the creek and freshly cleared when we got there. Nik and Beth were nice enough to share their bbq dinner with us and talked at length about their life on the homestead. They showed us all their livestock and patiently answered all our questions. You could not ask for nicer or more generous hosts. I hope to come back and stay for longer!

Creek camping with stargazing
Nik and Beth’s campsite was great! We got in late, but they were still accommodating and showed us the site, provided us with the best firewood i’ve ever used, and were very hospitable. Their 3 dogs were friendly and playful. We got to walk around their farm to see their bunnies and pigs, which was lovely. The creek sounds and the stars at night were lovely and made for a wonderful nighttime experience. two things to note: the site we stayed at did not have a grate over the fire to cook and the gravel road to drive to the farm is bumpy…drive slow and carefully. I would highly recommend Nik and Beth’s farm campsite.

Quiet and Secluded
What a beautiful place, quiet and secluded. Nik and Beth are terrific people and excellent hosts. Really enjoyed our time with them and look forward to a return trip in the future. I would mention that the last 1 ½ miles are fairly steep downhill with tight turns and a gravel surface. We had no issues getting down or up and I doubt most people will either.

Very helpful! Nik was at the bottom of the mountain to greet me when I got there because it was late. Minimal cell service in camp ground. I have a 2WD (honda fit) and had some slight trouble getting back out on one particularly steep part of the road in but besides that could manage ok. Would recommend!

Perfect for Overland Camping
We enjoyed our stay at Coon Creek and the drive in was spectacular. Our group of 7 trucks spent just one night before leaving and the hosts were very accommodating. Tucked in a holler keeps the even temps slightly lower in the summer months which was refreshing. Thanks so much, we’ll be back on our next adventure through the area!

We absolutely loved our stay with Nik and Beth! Very generous hosts who let us camp wherever we liked and then let us explore the mountains that they call home. Their property is absolutely gorgeous, dogs are wonderful, and we had a blast sitting around the fire in the main circle at night eating, laughing, and carrying on. 10/10 the very best 4th of July we could have. "This place is the tits" (lol). We absolutely will be visiting again and are avidly looking forward to visiting our new friends.

Tranquil - need higher clearance ve
Coon creek cove is so peaceful and quiet. We came from NC and met family from PA, and we were so looking forward to a few days of catching up and relaxing in and by the creek. The property is so natural and beautiful, and we spent an afternoon sitting in the creek when it got warm out. Nik was very hospitable. There is a cute and clean outhouse that he cleaned out twice per day. Their dogs were very sweet and gentle. The only trouble we had was getting our cargo trailer-camper conversion through the creek bed that you have to drive through to get to the site. It's a regular cargo trailer, not lifted or anything. We ended up having our family member walk beside the camper and move large rocks that we could not clear. The steps on the camper are pretty bent, but those can be replaced. It's still worth the wonderful time that we had. If you have any questionable clearance issues, this will be a tough one to navigate... if at all.

Peaceful get away in the hallow
I can’t wait to go back!!! We enjoyed a beautiful Saturday evening and Sunday morning in this lovely camp site! It was an adventure for sure! Be sure to drive a 4x4 as the road washes out and you drive through the creek. We enjoyed learning about Niks homestead life and absolutely loved the company of his dogs! We saw a baby fawn and enjoyed a lovely stroll down the mountain road. The stars were breathtaking as well. We highly recommend this camp site!

Remote, Kid Friendly, Great Hosts
Staying with Beth and Nik was a fantastic experience for our whole family. Beth was communicating with us before our stay and helped show us some hidden gems. Nik was so kind to show us their animals and Beth even had toys for our kids (5 and 2). The camp site is a big, flat, mowed area surrounded by woods, wildflowers, and a creek. Our children loved it and so did we! The kids especially loved the trees for their hammock and how friendly Beth and Nik were. We hope to return!

Everyday asked us if we needed anything. Knowledgable about the area. Will be back and loved our experience there. Thank you! Diane and Riley.
