Welcome to our Island Farm! We're located between Davis, Parsons, and Elkins. Dolly Sods, Canaan, Audra State Park, the Tygart River, the Cheat River, Seneca Rocks, and Tygart Lake are all a simple and scenic trip away. The land itself is 10 acres. The main camp area is on flat field and approximately 4 acres. Here is the secret recipe to this camp site: It will be all yours! We only offer a single primitive site per night. There are no neighbors (at least the human kind) visible from anywhere on the main field. Very minimal light pollution. The stars are clearly visible on a clear night. There are also no utilities. This includes water, electricity, or available enclosed shelters. Verizon and AT&T have strong signals in the field. There is a metal carport that has a concrete pad along with a Porta John for privacy. There are also some storage buildings on site. There is a gas station (Sheetz in Belington, WV) within 5 miles of the farm site and a Dollar General within 3 miles. Beyond that, Elkins has plenty of store options if you need supplies. Interstate 79 is 32 miles away. We are in the process of developing the far corner of the main field into an active hops farm and are members of a WV Co-Hop. Again: this site is secluded and your group will be the only people there during your stay. We will provide detailed directions when you make your reservation. The driveway is steep and could cause issues for two wheel drive vehicles in winter. If it's rained extensively there could also be some muddy areas which we ask that you try to avoid.This is where the main camp area is along with the Toilet, Fire Ring, and Awning. Most cars, trucks, and vans can park in any of this area and back out or pull around the circle as needed. Larger vans and SUVS might have an easier time pulling to the camp fire ring and then pulling forward and around to complete the circle. If you look at the satellite map it actually shows the tracks to follow as needed.

This is where the main camp area is along with the Toilet, Fire Ring, and Awning. Most cars, trucks, and vans can park in any of this area and back out or pull around the circle as needed. Larger vans and SUVS might have an easier time pulling to the camp fire ring and then pulling forward and around to complete the circle. If you look at the satellite map it actually shows the tracks to follow as needed.

Island Camp Site

I arrived and almost missed the driveway when he says it's the first driveway 180° on your right that's for sure. Hopefully in the future they'll add a Bruce's Island sign or something like that. After I took down the wire gate and started my drive up the grass and dirt driveway. I was greeted with a very large open field and a couple apple trees along with a few small outbuildings and a porta potty. There was a wonderful large cliff face. I made my way up to the top of it to look around wonderful view. I set my tent up. There is so little light bleed from any major cities that the stars are very gorgeous!!! There is hardly any road noise or noise other than animals and creatures of the night. I can definitely see coming back with a few friends and having a small fire or something and just enjoying the nothingness. It is very secluded and been a wonderful way you don't have to worry about anybody just coming up on you. For anybody that does come I do recommend having potable water with you that way you have something to drink. I had a small gas stove that I use to cook with and having a porta-Pot was quite nice not having to find a place to dig a hole and all that. I do look forward to coming back with my wife and spending the entire weekend frolicking 😉😉. I definitely see this place being a really nice place to be as loud as you want in nature which is always nice. I'll be back to Bruce's Island.
