Beautiful camp! Nice elevated platforms for tents! Outdoor shower was very pleasant and toilet was clean and the whole area is absolutely beautiful! Toby was super helpful and friendly as well. A great camp!

Camping on Tobys land was great- the wooden platforms were really nice. It was a little odd to have the bathroom inside but also wasn’t a big deal. I was a little confused where the potable water was but Toby showed me I could use the tap inside. I was the only one there so I was able to pick which spot I wanted!

I got lot 3, but they weren’t labeled when we got there. I selected the option that said it had the most privacy and was furthest away from the hosts house, however it was right on the road with a truck sized clearing in the trees so we could see and hear all cars and people who passed. There was no awning and it looked like the platform hadn’t been used in a while, which was fine but the lights on it were also just for show bc their solar panels didn’t get enough sunlight. We thought it’d be cool to park in the van sized spot but the host pulled up and asked us to move. We tried to explain that we just had some heavy stuff and wanted to load, but he said he didn’t want people to think this was public parking so we needed to go park by the side of his house. About ten minutes after we moved our van a car parked there with tinted windows for a few minutes before going on. It felt unsafe to have such a perfect car sized space but be unable to use our own. He said the bathrooms were available but you have to go on a hunt to find them, and there will likely be a couple of people on the porch who ignore you. Was not secluded. Bathroom was so oddly placed we opted to use nature. The two ppl sat facing the shower. They had three private cars on the property and only one spot for campers. The path to the campsites were overgrown and coulda used a good raking. Could hear music from neighbours all night as well as engines raving from a busy road. Would not recommend 0/10

Endroit pour la tente parfait, mais les lumières ne fonctionnaient pas. Par contre toilette chez l'habitant. Douche en extérieur qui mérite une amélioration, car rideau complètement inutile, pas très bien entretenu et pas d'eau chaude.

This is a lovely, peaceful campsite. The parking area is in the driveway by the house, but when you get to the tent platforms, it feels very quiet and secluded, surrounded by forest. The platform makes for a great place to set up your tent! I definitely recommend staying here, especially when the blackberries are ripe!

Toby was an excellent host. When I mentioned this was my first time sleeping in a tent alone, he let me know he was usually up on the porch so if I got nervous I could come up and find him. Such a kind offer for a solo female camper. I see some people who complained about the road noise- there were only a few cars an hour that came by and at night there was almost zero traffic. The spot was very quiet and very secluded from the main house, completely surrounded by towering trees, and large ferns.

Disappointed unfortunately

There was very little signage and it was very confusing trying to find where to go. They also advertised car camping but did not include that the sites are only walk up to get to the platforms. It’s an interesting place but definitely needs more help. The toilet was through a closed gate and into the house which is fine but there were no signs of what could or couldn’t be used. The bathroom was a bit rough as well. Just needed a bit more signage and cleaning! The host did not contact us back either. It was beautiful wooded area and the platforms were built evenly. The nights on them didn’t work though. Lots of things like that!

Great spot. Nice accommodations and the campsite was nice and level due to the host building a platform. A little hard to find if you don't know where you're going. Lovely scenery.

Nice and clean site with a friendly and helpful host. The real flush toilet has a separate entrance at the back of the house and has a real sink too. Beautiful big trees with partial views of gorgeous wetlands. The sites are small but affordable. It would be nice to rent multiple sites for a group

Lovely wooded area with a platform for my tent. There were a few platforms so you could see other camping spots but you didn’t feel too close so you still have privacy.

Such a beautiful, peaceful setting nestled amongst some beautiful trees in the forest! Was nice to have the elevated tent platforms and the hot outdoor shower was nice! Toby is a great personable host. Thank you Toby! I definitely recommend staying at Whispering Pines!

Rural, but just inutes from Olympia

Good option for inexpensive camping very close to Olympia, WA. I had a couple of question pre-booking, and Toby got back to me with the answers almost immediately. He greeted my guest and I upon arrival, gave us a quick rundown on things, and came off as a personable guy. As some others have mentioned, the sites are somewhat close together (basically like at your average state park) and there is a well travelled local road close by. You will need a totally freestanding tent in order to pitch on the platforms. The bathroom is in a mud room of the host's house, which is a little different, but I didn't find that or the road traffic (which wasn't loud) to be a big deal. You do have to schlep your camping gear a short distance from where you park. All in all, it was a good home base for my weekend in Olympia for the South Sound Block Party. And Steamboat Island is a charming rural place. Recommended, especially for the price.

we really enjoyed the wooden platforms that got us off the ground they really saved us due to the massive thunderstorm we got during our stay. the view was amazing very meditative setting. the shower was very warm. overall we had a great time!

Very beautiful. I think the glampsite is the one with the view of the wetland, closer to the house/bathroom and the other sites are in the cedar forest.

Camping in a nice location

Nice location for my interest in ease of access to Toby's land, nearby open water swimming, walking, Cove with view of Mt. Ranier and Burfoot park. I have a camping hammock. The setting was perfect for my camping hammock. Quiet. Bring a chair if you want to sit in chairs by your tent.

Overall it was a good experience, with nice tent pads. But I will say it’s close to a busy road that was quite loud. It’s a little strange the bathroom is inside the house but it was nice to have access to a flush toilet. The sites are in a wooded area but are close together would be great for a group. Host was friendly and available to greet us when we arrived.

Interesting place! Didn't realize until later that there's actually a glass studio here. Kinda a co-op sitch in the house, very friendly. Shower is outdoor, very appreciated, nice and hot. We were staying in a camper van and didn't realize there wasn't a great spot for it. We were able to park but it was a bit hot, and only one spot that we could squeeze into. The tent sites in the woods looked super cool- just be aware you need a free-standing tent (my trekking pole tent wouldn't work in a place like this) Definitely go to the lavender farm nearby! So nice and incredible views.

My favorite campsite in Olympia

Toby has a great place and has set it up to provide a fantastic camp environment. The location is a perfect combination of natural with easy access to a general market and just a short drive for local businesses. The access to bathroom and shower facilities is excellent. All the people I met at Toby’s place were wonderful.

Everything you need & great people

I love camping here and will definitely be a return customer. The host and their family are great people. The campsites are set up well, it’s great to have a smooth solid surface to set up on. The bathroom and shower are clean and the water flow is strong and hot! I have seen a set of twin fawns and their momma down the road in the mornings and have enjoyed a variety of bird song and a really crazy rooster crow. There is a road along one side of the camping area and some obnoxious cars zoom by on occasion, but not often.

Gorgeous to wake up to the rooster crowing and deer peeking through the meadow, saw blue heron on the lake, tiny green frogs hopping around and a friendly cat greeted us. My 7 year old had a blast and felt very safe. Very thankful for this opportunity

The land is beautiful. The tent platforms were well done. The glass artists were friendly. The biggest hit for me was the hot tub, since I was doing hard physical work every day. I also liked having a heated deck and access to a refrigerator.
