Might be better for RVers
I was in a tent. The site would probably be better for an RV. When I packed up, my tent had wet sand all stuck to it.
Then I tripped and fell down into the driveway. The driveway is filled with large pieces of very sharp gravel, so I ended up with pretty bad road rash. Obviously not their fault that I fell, but at a regular campground, or dispersed, there wouldn’t be sharp gravel.
When I arrived, the host greeted me, and then proceeded to mow his lawn next to the camping area. I was setting up my tent with my elderly mom who has hearing aids, and she couldn’t hear me over it.
The composting toilet smelled of urine inside, but at least you couldn’t smell it from the table & chairs right next to it. No worse than a vault.
The spot felt a little exposed, even though the host home is behind a row of trees that separate the yard from the camping area. The area is visible from the dirt road that you take to get there.
The main road is right off the dirt road. Traffic going by was very loud, until late at night, then started up again early in the morning. Didn’t feel like I was in nature, just in someone’s yard, by a busy street.
The second morning, I heard a neighbor kid playing with a remote control car, and then his dad shouting f-bombs at him for playing in the street. This was the kind of noise I was trying to avoid, or I would have stayed at Kitsap Memorial. Again, not the hosts’ fault, but kind of a bummer.
On the up side of noises, I did hear a barred owl at 2am.
