Welcome to The Landing at Index - located on the South Fork Skykomish River, in the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains, off of Highway 2. With 16 acres of beautiful, private woods and breathtaking views of Mt. Index, this is a wonderful getaway to kick back and relax after your day of adventures, or just to escape the city rush. This is a gated property, protected with a code, which you will be sent 24 hours before your arrival. The campsites are at the bottom of a long logging road so an SUV or AWD vehicle are preferable , especially during the wetter seasons. When the property was logged approximately 100 years ago they scooped out gravel from the river to make their roads in the area thus creating the back eddy pool along the beach. A rather peaceful setting, including the rushing sound of the river and the occasional whistle of a train. You will feel refreshed and rejuvenated after you stay at The Landing. Pets are welcome, there are private outhouses at each campsite. These outhouses are protected with a code, which is sent to you 24 hours before your arrival. Campfires are allowed (when burn bans are not in place).

Site 5 is located right along the river with easy access to the beach . There are views of both Mt. Index and Mt. Persis. There is a dedicated outhouse and large picnic table as well as fire pit. This site is for 18+ages only - no dogs are permitted. Please do not book this site if you are under 18, or have a pet! Site 6 is located right on the popular swimming area at the entrance of the property. It has easy access for launching paddle boards, rafts , or kayaks . There are views of Mt. Persis and the large pool just downstream. There is a fire pit, outhouse and large picnic table. Be sure to bring your tent, firewood and water. Loved the site, will say be on the lookout though on wild animals as we had an overnight visit from some coyotes so keep that in mind for small animals if off leash. Only con is mainly a 1 way road once in property so when we arrived there was another vehicle trying to leave so caused some issues. Overall beautiful and clean worth the trip over!

The site was SO beautiful and spacious. There were tons of salmon swimming in the river, the access was easy, the outhouse was well equipped, and the check-in was smooth. Thank you!!

Campsite 6 - (18+) Paddlers Cove
The whole place is fantastic. Up over a ridge and then down so well away from the highway. Look like all the campsites had easy access to the water. Campsite 6 is amazing with a permanent tent and outside cover area. Well stocked with a gas BBQ and utensils. Everything is well built and very well maintained. If the weather is iffy, this is the campsite to book. David is very responsive and a great guy. Five stars and we will be back. For large groups booking campsites 1 & 6 together would work well R

Our family loves camping at The Landing every summer! Dave is a great host, very responsive and helpful. It's been fun exploring different sites as they offer varying views and access to the river. I suggest bringing a tarp or tablecloth for the large picnic table at campsite 5. The table sits under gorgeous tall trees where many caterpillars live... so the table gets constantly covered in tiny droppings. It's all part of the immersive nature experience! Our favorite months to visit are July and August!

The site was absolutely beautiful, well maintained and peaceful. I had also messaged David a couple times beforehand with questions and his responses were very quick. I will definitely be booking again!

The landing is such a special place! All sites are gorgeous and have access to the river, the outhouse are pristine and private, and the views are to die for! We stayed in eagle #4 and it was large and could fit 3 tents if needed!

This is such a beautiful spot, the river is so clear and view is wonderful. Great place to float on a sunny day. The camping sites are large and well kept. I hope to make this a yearly trip for my family!

This campsite was amazing! Super easy to find, super secluded, quiet and right next to the warmest river I've ever been in, also the outhouse was maintained really well. I can't say enough good things about this campsite, we will definitely be coming back soon!

Campsite 1 - Boulder Beach
The landing is one of the most magical places I have camped around here, with an incredible river and lots of swimming holes. It was wonderful! We will definitely go back. The owner, Dave, is very kind and attentive.. the property was clean, the outhouse is well cared for, and it is obvious that a lot of loving care has been put into cultivating a beautiful space. Thank you Dave for sharing it with us! Note: the dogs across from site number one howled the entire day after the owners put it inside. We had dogs and when we went down to the beach and the owner was outside, the dogs ran down to their side of the beach and aggressively barked. When they were put inside, they howled for hours. I felt bad for their situation, and there’s nothing that can be changed about it. But just a heads up. In case you are not into howling, barking dogs, you may want to look at one of the sites further down that isn’t number one. If you don’t have dogs, it probably won’t be a problem.

After staying three nights and two whole days at the landing at index in campsite number four, I can say with confidence that this is probably the best campsite I have ever stayed in! With a door-to-door drive time of only one hour and 15 minutes, unbeatable views, and amenities, incredible water access For fishing and floating and swimming, hardly any bugs, and a grocery store only 20 minutes down the road if necessary, I’m not sure why you had camp anywhere else! So grateful to David the owner for sharing his beautiful piece of land with all of us. We can’t wait to go back again! The only criticism I have is that our grill over the fire pit was far too small, but fortunately we had a cast-iron grill plate to put over it to extend the surface area. There are other campsites like #2 that has a freestanding barbecue grill, so depending on what site you stay at you may not need to worry about this. We met several guests during our stay while walking along the riverbank and checking out the property and in typical hip camp fashion, everyone was so very friendly and genuinely happy to be there!

We had an amazing weekend at the Landing! The river was such a treat on a hot august day. Refreshing but not too cold. The campsite was well maintained and peaceful. The shade from the trees kept our campsite out of the direct sun. We will be back!

Awesome spot for easy camping with a beautiful view and river access. The spots are spaced out and I was lucky to be the only one there for 2 nights so I had the river and beach to myself as well! There are people across the river so it's not entirely private but the sites have plenty of privacy. My pup loved being off leash and the river was the perfect combination of wading height in some spots and easy slope for swimming for me. The drive is also super easy from Seattle as an added bonus. Thanks for sharing your land!

This is my third trip to The Landing and I will continue to return. The campsites are clean, private, and spacious. Every one of them has access to the water which is wonderful. Camp site 5 has a great beach and a great swimming area. We were unfortunate to get downpour but I was impressed how well the ground drained due to the sand, gravel, and play chips. The table is huge and had plenty of room for our large group plus all our stuff piled under the pop up tent from the rain. I’m always impressed and like I said will continue to book here.

Gorgeous mountain views! Clean, nice out houses with automatic lights when you enter and peet moss supplied so they don't smell. Campsites are far enough from each other so you don't see or hear your neighbors. Nice fire pits with 2 chairs and a picnic table supplied. Loved falling asleep to the sound of the river 😊 would absolutely camp here again

This campground was fantastic! The sites are so far apart you can't even see your neighbors, and the sound of the river is so calming. Waking up to the view of Mt Index was amazing. You have your own pit toilet, fire pit, and picnic table, and so much room to pitch a big tent and spread out. We would love to come back!

My very first time camping and it was so much fun. The camping plots are very private. Everything on the camp site and so well taken care of, even your own toilet that’s stocked with toilet paper and cleaning supplies! I stayed on the osprey and was right next to the river. It was an amazing time with my 3 year old ❤️

One of the best camping spots hands down, you are lucky if you are able to get a spot. Super clean, safe, private, and quiet. Next to the Skykomish river for easy access to swimming and beach life. Large area to park multiple vehicles. Beautiful large fire pits. Experience the taj mahal of outhouses. Thank you to the Thompson Family for sharing their land. Always an amazing experience.

This spot is so magical! You're a few steps away from the river and it provides lovely background music. The campsites are very spacious, tidy, and offer a good deal of privacy from the other sites. This is also a perfect spot if you have dogs!

We enjoyed our time at The Landing so much, we already miss it! The views are spectacular and the campsites are so spacious and well-distanced from others that its nearly private. We barely saw anyone else while we were there, and the rushing of the river was great to sleep to and mostly drown out other human sound around you. We had our section of the river in front of our campsite to ourselves which felt like such a luxury and made the high cost of camping worth it for a special occasion trip. The property seems well cared for and is thoughtful in its amenities and stewardship of the land. Thanks for a great time, we will be back!

Campsite 1 - Boulder Beach
My dogs and I loved this place. Campsite 1 is beautiful and has everything including a bit of room to throw the ball for the dogs, space to car camp, camp at the actual site, or you could put your tent on the beach. The neighbor across the river from site 1 does have dogs that bark anytime they’d see my dogs, so I felt like I couldn’t spend as much time down there as to not cause a disturbance, but perfect nonetheless.
