The King’s Cottage offers an off-grid mountain experience high atop Dow Mountain in Hoodsport, WA. Nestled on 5 private forested acres near Lake Cushman, this remote PNW cabin is perfect for nature lovers, off-grid adventurers, and Bigfoot enthusiasts. Located just 35-40 minutes from Olympic National Park’s Staircase entrance and 20 minutes from downtown Hoodsport, guests can explore hikes, lakes, and charming local spots—all from a cozy basecamp in the woods. 🌲 Arrival Info After passing the first locked gate, enjoy a scenic 3-mile dirt and gravel forest road. (4WD helpful in winter but not required.) A steep but manageable second gated driveway leads to private parking for up to 3 vehicles, with overflow parking below. 🛏️ Sleeping Arrangements & Amenities Main Cabin: Queen bed, cozy couch & chair, indoor fireplace, and a well-stocked kitchenette (stove, cookware, coffee, spices). Pole Barn: King bed in “The Tree View Room” with forest views, dishwashing area, and outdoor cooking setup. Bunkhouse: Full bed + twin bunk, toys & books for the kids. 🔥 Outdoor Living Main firepit: In-ground with views of Mt. (Late arrival? fee may apply).After the 3-mile drive up the forest rd. (4-wheel drive not necessary but advised during winter months) after the first locked gate, you will arrive at our little haven on the mountain. Please read the full description before booking. Parking-The gated driveway is a little steep, but you should be able to get your vehicle up. My daughter has a Honda civic and goes right up it. There is however parking down below on the side to the left of the driveway if you don’t think you’ll make it. At the top of the driveway there is parking space for about 3 vehicles. Pole Barn- Includes the view room(King size bed), dishwashing area and winter outdoor cooking area Bunkhouse- includes a full-size bed and several bunks with toys and books for kids. Main cabin-Includes a queen size bed, a pull-out couch bed (queen) fireplace, and kitchenette. Our cottage on the mountain is located 20 minutes to town and about 35-40 minutes to Staircase national park. We are located in a private gated mountain community towards the top of Dow Mt. Here you will find just about every amenity you will need to enjoy your stay. We provide all linens, bedding and starter supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, oil; spices, coffee & creamer and have a fully loaded kitchen. Be aware we do not have toasters or microwave. All food will have to be cooked on the stove, BBQ or firepit. We will also supply propane for the BBQ and 2 cans of propane for each unit. We are a dry cottage, which means no electricity or water. However, we will have 25 gallons of water for use and a case of water for drinking to get you started. Please bring extra water with you. We will also supply wood for both the firepit and indoor fireplace. For electricity we have solar powered lights on the outside and lights on the inside of each unit powered by battery banks. We also have head lamps for you to use. Bathrooms, this is off grid-so plan on a potty being a permitted outhouse or a porta bucket... We have a lot of wildlife on the mountains. I have seen 4 bobcats up here since we bought the place in 2019. Although I haven’t seen any Cougar up here, they have been caught on camera on a neighbor’s property and it seems like the houses down on the lake have more problems with them then we do. We have ton of birds. My favorites being the pair of Ravens who like to come and visit us almost daily when we visit. Be aware of your surrounds, I would highly suggest bringing a whistle, bear spray or airhorn to carry on you. The property has an inground firepit and a propane fire pit for a different sitting area. From the main firepit you can see Mt Saint Helens on a clear day and the hood canal down below. During the summer months we have an outdoor cooking and eating area, but that gets moved under the pole barn during the winter. This property is an outdoor adventurer’s heaven. Do you like to pick mushrooms, go fishing, go on a hike, spend a day at the lake, play frisbee or regular golf? Do you like solitude and privacy? This is your place. If you want a little town life, the town of Hoodsport has a bar with the best broasted chicken you will ever have. There is wine tasting, a distillery, and a local brewery. The town also has a couple of cute shops and a coffee shop. There are two grocery stores. One in town and one small convenience store shortly before the turn off. When renting our property, you will get a pass that will allow you to park and enjoy 3 private parks around Lake Cushman and Lake Kokanee. You can bring your own floatation’s down or rent Kayaks from the store down below. This pass will also get you into some hot showers! If you are wanting to bring a boat or trailer, I will have to get those passes for you in advance. Because of the location of the cabin and the fact we are only allotted a certain amount of keys, owner will meet you at the gate to bring you up. Meet time must be between 4-7pm. Guest access Guest will have access to the main cabin, bunkroom and view room. You will be all by yourselves on the 5 acres. Other things to note If you plan on visiting the beautiful private Lake Cushman parks, you will need a car pass, boat pass, or trailer pass depending on your adventures here and will need to be purchased through me prior to your arrival Monday-Friday. I will need to go to the office and purchase these. Payment will be due prior.

This place is spectacular!! Lots of love went into this place to make it feel like home. They provide plenty of bottled water to drink and gallons of water for other needs. The sauna and taking a shower outside was our favorite. Would definitely stay here again. We did not want to leave!

This spot is great for groups. All the amenities were so thoughtful, from all the cooking supplies to charging stations for phones . It was super cozy when cold and raining outside, and had so many abundant outdoor spaces when the sun was out. We would highly recommend this spot!

I cannot recommend this place enough! We chose this cabin for a romantic and restorative get away, and it did not disappoint. We had three adults but the property could have easily and comfortably accommodated a family or extended family; there were so many private sleeping places. There were so many amenities and unexpected touches not in the listing, things like supplies for rock painting, adult coloring books, and a very diverse library. We were able to take advantage of the sauna, outdoor shower, fire pit, and outdoor kitchen as well as the indoor wood burning stove. Everything was SPOTLESS; huge shout out to the housekeeping service. Even the outdoor couches were clean somehow! Lezli, the host, was a radiantly warm and friendly person. You can tell she built this property from a place of deep love and care, with her own big family in mind. She was wonderful about guiding us up the logging road and showing us how everything worked. It is very remote and the drive is unpaved, but your reward is complete peace and quiet. She was always quick to respond before snd during our stay. Lezli, thank you so much for sharing your magical land with us for the weekend. We can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely lovely. Lezli thinks of everything that you might need to have a relaxing, peaceful break from the city. Views are beautiful -- especially the one from the sauna -- and the grounds are maintained with an eye for native plant life and preservation of the forest.

This property is amazing and as other people have said, Lezli thought of everything. Everything we needed was there, and then some. My fiancé and I, my parents, my brother and his girlfriend, and our big German Shepherds all stayed here for three nights. Everyone was comfortable, slept well, was relaxed, and enjoyed their time. The outdoor kitchen was equipped enough for our slightly gourmet (for camping) meals. The rooms are all cozy and very nicely decorated. The battery operated lights and the ability to charge devices was thoughtful and worked so great. We used the outdoor shower each day and, man, what a great addition. There is ample seating all over the property. There is a burn ban so we could not use the sauna or have a wood fire, but the propane fire was all we needed, and now we want one at home! My fiancé and I stayed in the view room, and I could have laid on that bed and gazed at the trees all day. It is so beautiful. The dogs were happy and enjoyed tons of off leash time around the property. I cannot say enough about this place and all of the thoughtful details! We realized too late that there were materials to paint rocks (which is such a cool idea!) We will definitely be back, and next time I’m using that sauna!! Thank you Lezli!

Perfect Retreat & Exceptional Host

My husband and I stayed at Lezli's beautiful off-grid cabin on 5 acres in the Olympic National Forest, and it was the perfect getaway for his birthday. We were seeking peace and serenity, and this place truly delivered. Despite being off-grid, the solar battery packs provided kept our devices charged and the string lights on as much as we needed throughout our four-day stay. The wildlife was abundant, and while we didn’t encounter any bears or cougars, the provided bear spray offered peace of mind. Lezli is an exceptional host—welcoming, flexible, and accommodating, clearly passionate about sharing her stunning space with others. We couldn’t have been happier with our experience and are already planning our next visit, possibly with friends, as there are multiple tiny-house cabins on the property for additional guests. The listing is accurate and thorough, so make sure to read it carefully before booking. Our dog also loved the tranquil setting, and we enjoyed nearby activities like rock hounding and exploring the charming town of Hoodsport. We highly recommend this retreat for anyone looking to unwind in nature.

Lezli's A-frames and cabins are so beautiful, surrounded by forest and with a lovely view. My sister and I had a wonderful stay - everything we needed was provided for a comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend if you are interested in a quiet, peaceful getaway. My sister and I drove into the Olympic National Park for hiking on all three days. Two days we hiked close by and the third day we drove up to Port Angeles (about 2 1/2 hours) and saw the sights up there. We had an amazing time!

We had such a fantastic time! The kings cottage was perfect for a 2 couple stay (you could probably do 3 couples if one pair doesn’t mind sleeping in a double bed). If you work with Lezli to book the A-frames, you could have a big crew at the site easy-peasy. Lezli has the space completely stocked with everything you need for camping and more. Lights, head lamps, towels, face masks, firewood, chairs (indoor and outdoor seating), cushions, coffee, tea, dishes, cozy blankets, spices, trash cans, hand washing station, some light snacks just in case, bird seed (treats for the squirrels and salamanders too), activities from knitting to rock painting to board games to discs for the local disc golf course— she has thought of everything! All you need to bring is yourself, clothes, some extra drinking water, mosquito repellent, and food. We could have easily spent our entire time relaxing at the site. It was nice to have separate buildings for each couple so we didn’t have to worry about snoring waking up each other up (and they were really sound proof). Lezli was so wonderful to accommodate us with a late check out. The view is unbelievable and you can see it from inside the sauna. The photos really don’t do it justice. There is much love put into every detail. Each cabin feels unique but cohesive. Serene and quiet and no neighbors to worry about when you’re laughing over a late night smore’s session. if you’re thinking about booking here do it! We hope to come back next year!

Best little oasis from the real world!! My family and I enjoyed our stay so much. From all the little amenities, to the rich wildlife and greenery outside. The only downside was that we didn’t stay another day ;)

This place is great. It is so well stocked, all you need to bring are your clothes and food. They provide literally everything else! The views are immaculate, the wildlife friendly, the cabins cozy. I can't even find the words to describe how great of a time my family had here. The outhouse needs some work, but it sounds like they have plans to make it better. Even having to endure a slightly stinky outhouse, I give this place a 10/10 experience. No electricity, but power banks all over the place for lights and phone chargers. Perfect place to escape it all. They even provide vehicle passes to access the private parks at Lake Cushman. Definitely planning another trip here!

This was my first time using a Hipcamp site and Lezli made it a great experience. Me and my 2 adult sons and my grandson enjoyed every minute of our stay. We loved the lake view, lake fishing was close by and the accommodations where above and beyond our expectations. We appreciate Lezli and her families attention to the smallest details and friendly personalities. We really love Lezli’s site it felt like home especially on those cold mountain nights we felt warm and cared for.

Had a girls weekend and it was a blast. Six women who brought snacks and were able to just converse, relax, enjoy. Utilized the sauna and fire pit. Blessed with great weather and a crew of the stars. Amazing weekend relaxation

I very much appreciated the quiet seclusion of this location. The host was very accommodating and everything was well stocked (I packed way to much). Use of passes for Lake Cushman recreation was much appreciated. We weren't able to enjoy the evening fire because of burn bans but will definitely be back to enjoy a relaxing weekend/week again.

This was an amazing find! If you're looking for a remote, beautiful cabin then this is your place. Our family LOVED our weekend at Lezli's place. We played lots of cornhole, board games, SUP on Lake Cushman and just relaxing, taking in the views. The main cottage is really well appointed. Very comfortable living room area and dining area. Beautiful outdoor spaces abound (seriously like 5 different areas outside to hang out). There's an amazing three bunk bed cabin that the kids loved. Great bedroom off the main cabin and a super beautiful separate cabin with a king bed and amazing views of the forest. There's also an outdoor kitchen area that worked great for prepping meals and cleaning up. Lezli has thought off everything and the property was well stocked. We'll be back for sure!

Lezli’s property was incredible! We booked 2 A-frame cabins for the weekend and they were absolutely adorable and so clean!! Lezli thought of everything for her guests - she provided water, cooking utensils, hand washing station, blankets, heaters, snacks, firewood, chairs, dog treats, dog towel…the list goes on! She even plans to install an outdoor shower which would be a bonus for the sauna and summertime hiking :) My partner and I packed all our camping stuff (just in case) but we didn’t need any of it. She only books one large group at a time which in my opinion really made experience. It was private, quiet, and so incredibly peaceful! Lezli also met us at the bottom of mountain and drove took us up a dirt/gravel road for about 3.5 miles. It is definitely easily accessible with AWD and would probably be fine with a sedan. I would highly recommend Lezli’s property! We cannot wait to book again :)

We stayed in a single room cabin on the most beautiful, clean property. We had the property to ourselves and enjoyed a wood fired sauna. The instructions were clear, Lezli met us down the mountain and showed us the way to the property. There were so many thoughtful touches with welcome baskets in the room and for the sauna and all the flowers and outdoor furniture was set and ready with comfy cushions. We came on a rainy weekend but we were cozy and warm and loved the convenience of so many wonderful hikes and great food nearby. we used the Division 1 park for a nice hot shower as well. Great view on top of the Hood Canal. This spot is not to be missed!

Everything about this spot was fantastic! It was quaint, beautiful, clean and very intentional. So many cute, thoughtful aspects such as a "Welcome" bucket in the room, all the kitchen fixings and beautifully planted fresh flowers on the property. Lezli was very communicative and helpful throughout the whole process. Cannot wait to return to this place again and again!
