Salmon Run Campground

A beautiful little spot along the river, and so close to the coast! We had no problems finding the campsite, utilized the very helpful cart to transport our camping gear across the road to our site from the designated parking spot, and enjoyed a quick walk around the property. I would advise that you should prepare for bugs as there's a healthy population given the slow side pool of the river down below, and that you should bring strong fire starter if you intend to use to the campfire - the moisture from the Pacific gets into the wood provided and will quench any efforts at combustion. All in all a great experience and a site I can recommend!

The site is lovely and peaceful, right on a river. It is next to a road, but the road is very quiet and non-intrusive. We had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone!

Camp Site #1 was tucked away behind the trees, overlooking the river and the perfect spot for a rainy camp night. Host was very accommodating as we looked to set up camp in a rain storm- the parking/bathroom area was clean and not far from camp. We spent time even in the rain down by the river looking at all the wildlife and hanging out. Lastly the drive up was beautiful and so much to explore in the area.

We loved the camping site; it was exactly what we were looking for during our trip to the Olympic National Park! Mara and Ramsey were gracious hosts! Bathrooms were clean and well kept!

Turnoff camping

My daughter and I arrived to find our car would be parked a cross a public two lane road from our campsite which was no more than a turnoff feet away from the road. The toilet was a port-a-potty in gravel parking area with no privacy. This camp ground felt unsafe, too exposed to public, unsupervised, and unattractive. This should not be called a campground. We paid for 4 nights and ended up spending less at another national forest campground for less money, better atmosphere, and lots of friendly fellow campers.

Camping with toddlers….

We had a great stay at site #2 with our 21 month old and 4 year old. When we first pulled up I almost had a heart attack seeing how close it was to the road since we had our two little ones with us, but we set things up as we needed a place to stay for the night but it ended up working out so well and the road wasn’t a problem for us. We ended up staying 3 nights and we never felt much anxiety about the road since once we were in the site it was very private and relaxing. Plus there was really only about 1 car an hour coming down the road so it became a non issue. If you’re traveling with little kids I think sites 1 and 2 would be the best to stay in, since they are the most cut off from the road. The sites were peaceful, and well maintained, the view of the river from the sites is magical. Our kids loved riding back and forth from the car to the site in the wagon:) We would recommend for sure!

We loved our stay with kids and dog at Salmon Run! We loved: Privacy- Only 4 sites total. 1, 2 and 4 are most private. 3 is a bit more central, but all surrounded by mossy trees and bushes. Nature sounds- river running and bird chirping! Location- easy access to Kalaloch and Quinault. Other access points to national Park are closed as well. Beautiful area! Saw elk and river otter! Dog friendly- both Kalaloch and Quinault have dog-friendly options, so this location was great for us traveling with a pet. Wish there was a source for water. Port-a-potty was fine considering there are only four sites. Was so meticulously cared for. This would be a place we would definitely come back to.

Porta potty and side road camping.

Unfortunately there are a couple items not said about this property in the description. First the camp site are right next to the road which did not sit right with me. Second this location is advertised to have a toilet but does specify the kind of toilet, with nothing being said I assumed it was a running water toilet or at least a vault toilet but it is a porta potty and now knowing both of these item I would not stay at this property in the future. I actually just ended up sleeping in my car with how uncomfortable sleeping by the road made me feel.

Salmon Run is a great spot by the river. We stayed at site 4 the Hidden Grove and it was everything we hoped for! Listening to the river at night is amazing! The site is right off the road which can be loud with traffic but there were so few traveling vehicles it was a non-issue.

Riverbank Redoubt

Great spot! This is a wonderful, wonderful little location if you're looking for a convenient and casual camping experience. We were situated up on the bank of the Clearwater River and got to listen to its joyful burbling our whole time, as well as the cheeping birds and the lonely frog out in the pond, calling out to its missing counterpart. What we mercifully did not have to deal with was the sound of cars and traffic, noisy neighbors, or anything else unpleasant. The soundscape was excellent. The view was quite good as well! Although the campsites are fairly close, only 25-30 feet apart, ours was surrounded by moss covered trees and undergrowth, which gave it a private and naturalistic feel. We even got a feast of a sunset one day, with the sun setting down the river and light streaming into the campsite, it was really something. Only thing I found to be a nuisance was the mosquitoes. Pack some Off or Cutter or something though and they're no trouble at all.

Great campsite right on the river! The only thing that would make this place better is access to a real flushing toilet and working sink, but otherwise beautiful, easy to get to, working WiFi, and great location to get the beaches and park!

#3 is a large campsite! Loved hearing the sound of the riffle in the distance. A short walk between the parking area and the camp site but easily manageable and the wagon helps. Nice fire ring and ours has a small grate we used for grilling.

This was such a gorgeous location to camp at! Loved that there was firewood available for purchase and the site provided a lovely picnic table and benches to cook on. Mara was a great host and we had an amazing experience!

Great location. Beaches and rainforests all within a short drive. The campsite itself was great as well. Clean bathroom, picnic table and firepit, firewood available for purchase, a beautiful river flowing just a few feet away, two trashcans …Everything you would want or need! Would definitely come back

Quiet, beautiful, and pristine campsite. Mara is a fantastic host. Even though it was the fifth Saturday of the month, we truly enjoyed the special movie night in the shop with you, Ramsey, and the other guests. We will definitely be back.

The campsite was very nice! We stayed at site 2 and there was a picnic table, fire pit, some stumps for sitting, and a nice view of the river. I would definitely recommend it! Also Mara was very accommodating—we got lucky they were having movie night and were able to join them in watching Indiana Jones and had some popcorn too! A welcome bonus experience for sure 😄

Salmon Run is an absolutely amazing place!!!! I had a great stay at campsite 4. I loved how it was nestled back into the trees and hidden away... In the evening the frogs and crickets put on a concert.. I woke in the morning to the serenade of birds and water tumbling over the rocks. It exactly what I needed " a calm relaxing night away". This place and all of its campsite are wonderous and highly recommend!!!! I will not miss the opportunity to stay here anytime im in the area! Thank you...
