Nestled along the Clearwater River in a quiet, forested stretch of the Olympic Peninsula, Salmon Run is a small family-owned campground offering a peaceful, back-to-nature experience. Located between the Quinault and Hoh rainforests just 3.6 miles north of Highway 101 and about 10 miles from Kalaloch Beach, this peaceful spot is a quiet alternative to the busy coastal campgrounds. Sites include a fire ring, a flat spot for your tent, and a picnic table (except Camp 4). At the north edge of the campground, a short trail through the floodplain forest provides access to the river and gravel bar. There’s no potable water onsite, so bring drinking water or your filter for the river. Directly across the street, guests have access to a clean Sanican, a gravel parking area, and free WiFi in front of the main shop. Dogs are welcome, as long as they stay leashed and are never left unattended. Bundles of firewood are available for purchase.

Camp 4: Secret Grove is the most private and enchanted-feeling of all the campsites, with a setting that feels like your own secret hideaway. Tucked among tall trees and leafy shrubs, it features a soft, forest floor and a huge mossy fallen tree perfect for sitting and climbing on. While it does not have a picnic table, it more than makes up in atmosphere—perfect for nature-loving couples seeking some solitude and stillness.

Camp 3: Wide Open features the largest open space of all the sites and sits just adjacent to the shared common area, making it ideal for families or small groups who appreciate the extra room. The wide, grassy terrain makes for an easy setup, and the nearby trees offer just enough dappled shade to stay cool during warm summer afternoons.

Camp 4: Secret Grove
It was cute and clean and tucked away and only partially visible from the road. It was close to the road so a couple cars went by. The toilet is a porta potty so bring water and soap to wash hand and dishes etc.

My family & I had a great time camping on Mara's land. Beautiful spot, easy to find, clean, and well-described online. Mara communicated well & came to introduce herself shortly after we first arrived. Each of the Salmon Run camping sites has its own character with varying levels of privacy. We would happily stay here again.

Nice spot right on the river. Sites were clean and laid out well. We couldn't have fires this trip, but the firepits were nice. The picnic table was new and clean (in fact when we got there Mara had just finished wiping it down, which is so thoughtful.) We did get some early morning big truck traffic, but nothing horrible. The campground is an easy drive to Kalaloch and Lake Quinault for some good hikes .

Great tent camping location! 20 min from kalaloch, approx 50 min from Hoh Rainforest. The sound of the river was so nice to fall asleep to. The tree foliage offered nice coverage for privacy. We would stay here again!

Great location with a perfect river view. We enjoyed the 30+ elk making their way upstream at sunset. Would definitely be back for another trip.

Perfect little getaway! Myself, my partner, and our 2 dogs needed a little getaway and this was perfect. The river was a great background and despite being close to the road, the whole place felt fairly quiet and secluded.

This was a lovely little campground! It was very close to Kalaloch beach and a just a couple hours drive from Forks. The campsite was very beautiful and well maintained. It is on the side of the street, but it is not a very busy street at all so we never had any noise issues. Highly recommend this campground!

This campground was very clean, private and peaceful. It was wonderful being able to be so close to our site, and also being able to take a dip in the river found behind. This spot is ideal for those wanting to visit tourist attractions in the national park without staying in an overcrowded, larger campground. We will be back!

Camp 3: Wide Open
A open green grassy setting right next to shady trees along the river. Mara’s camping area is clean, neatly maintained in a quiet setting. Easy to find, just a few miles off the highway. Campsite is adjacent to a road, but I only saw one or two other cars drive through while I was there. I stopped for just a night but would return if I’m in the area

Camp 1: Riverside Calm
This is a quaint little place along the river with lots to trees and big grass area to enjoy. We stay in spot one. It’s a short drive to the Tree of Life with a huge beautiful beach with awesome waves for playing in. The host, Mara, was so welcoming, kind and so incredibly helpful. We arrived on a day of an atmospheric river and were soaked after setting up camp. She was kind enough to offer to dry our coats and towels, which made all the difference to us. We would most definitely come again. 🙂 Thank you for everything!!!

We enjoyed our short, one-night stay at the Salmon Run Campground. While we spent the majority of our stay exploring the surrounding area, our time spent in camp was pleasant. We will definitely consider staying again at this quaint spot when we find ourselves in the area in the future.

Nice, clean camping spot by the river. Near a road, so you’ll hear some passing cars from time to time, but nothing very intrusive. Great option if you’re wanting to be near enough to the coast without staying in the cramped seaside spots.

We loved our stay at Salmon Run Campground! It was exactly as described—close to the river with beautiful views, a spotless portable toilet, and even a cart to help us bring our gear across the road. Mara was absolutely lovely—kind, friendly, and full of great tips for getting around. We felt right at home and will definitely be back!

Very nice small campground. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is it. If you want to play loud music, etc. this is not the place for you. The only real noise was an occasional vehicle on the road...but the road is not traveled much. Camp here and then go to the beach during the day. There was some confusion about which site we had booked but Mara worked it out! Thank you Mara. We had a wonderful time and any of the campsites are great. We loved access to the river which is warmer than the ocean. We would come back in a heart beat...and will if we have a chance.
