Salmon Run Campground

Stayed in site #2, Friday and Saturday night and had a great time. The land was well-maintained and the campsite itself felt really private, didn't feel like we were on top of other guests. The hosts were so lovely and clearly put a lot of care into the place. They also hosted a movie night with popcorn in their garage, which was such a fun treat. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

Amazing little spot! I was a tad bit worried knowing it was right off the road, but: 1. I didn't hear a single car pass in the night, and only 2 passed during evening/dinner time. 2. The campsites are all tucked away behind trees and right on the river, so you can't actually see the road. Felt very private and secluded! Mara was fantastic. She met us out front as soon as we arrived, showed us the trail down to the the river, provided some good sights and eats advice, and let us know we could call her if we needed anything. There was only one other guest while we were staying but they were quiet and respectful. Almost no bugs while we were there, which was surprising given the river is so close. Location is also only 20 minutes away from Ruby beach and third beach (amazing tidepooling and sights!). I hate portapotties so tried not to use it, but ended up waking up in the middle of the night needing to go. To my surprise, it was VERY CLEAN and I wished I hadn't tried to avoid it and been forced to go in the night lol she clearly takes great care of her guests, the property, and the toilet! I will definitely be returning on my next camping trip.

So glad I found this spot! Mara was very friendly and gave great recommendations. The sites are beautiful, peaceful, and the property well kept. As someone visiting from the east coast, I thought I wanted to be at the national park campgrounds. After driving by them (overcrowded, close together, right by a busy road) I am SO grateful I booked Salmon Run instead.

The owners were so kind and accommodating. Very clean porta-potty! Felt safe there and the WiFi was a nice bonus due to low cell service in the area.

This campsite was in a very convenient location. The river was beautiful and the campsite was spacious. It was also close to the coast which we enjoyed. Only issue is the campsite is close to the road & although it’s not a busy road, trucks do go by quite fast in the mornings. So just make sure to be aware of that!

Peaceful and scenic private camp

Great little camp site. Each site was semi-private. We had a great view of the river, a clean newly painted picnic table, and plenty of space. Getting water from the river wasn’t super easy due to low water conditions, so recommend bringing plenty of water with you. Having WiFi was super helpful for planning the next days of our bike tour. The bathroom was clean and well stocked.

We had a great experience camping here! Our hosts were so helpful and made sure we knew where everything was and had everything we needed. BEAUTIFUL campsite a stones throw from the river whose sounds we fell asleep to. A very serene, private, beautiful place to camp that’s very nearby the national park beaches. 10/10 would recommend!!

I was a little nervous with the spots being along the road, but it was not an issue at all. The property is very clean and the spots are very nice. There was an issue with the spot we reserved and Mara was very communicative with us before our stay and made sure to check in with us when we arrived. I would stay here again! It is a good spot between Lake Quinault and the ocean beaches

Great grassy area with plenty of spots to pop up a tent or three! Awesome picnic table. River sounds were top tier. Quiet road. Mara was nice and flexible. Great spot to enjoy Olympic parks from.

A beautiful little spot along the river, and so close to the coast! We had no problems finding the campsite, utilized the very helpful cart to transport our camping gear across the road to our site from the designated parking spot, and enjoyed a quick walk around the property. I would advise that you should prepare for bugs as there's a healthy population given the slow side pool of the river down below, and that you should bring strong fire starter if you intend to use to the campfire - the moisture from the Pacific gets into the wood provided and will quench any efforts at combustion. All in all a great experience and a site I can recommend!

Wonderful area. Open and clean at entrance, with a nice little space for a tent with a fire pit and a picnic table. Can be a cozy spot in that space, but there’s a larger area right outside the trees to set up a larger tent or picnic. Mara was communicative the whole time and came to meet us. There was fire wood for sale on site and a porta potty. Can walk to explore the river and even had some rackets and balls to hit around. Can’t recommend it enough. Thanks, Mara!

Camp Site #1 was tucked away behind the trees, overlooking the river and the perfect spot for a rainy camp night. Host was very accommodating as we looked to set up camp in a rain storm- the parking/bathroom area was clean and not far from camp. We spent time even in the rain down by the river looking at all the wildlife and hanging out. Lastly the drive up was beautiful and so much to explore in the area.

Turnoff camping

My daughter and I arrived to find our car would be parked a cross a public two lane road from our campsite which was no more than a turnoff feet away from the road. The toilet was a port-a-potty in gravel parking area with no privacy. This camp ground felt unsafe, too exposed to public, unsupervised, and unattractive. This should not be called a campground. We paid for 4 nights and ended up spending less at another national forest campground for less money, better atmosphere, and lots of friendly fellow campers.

Camping with toddlers….

We had a great stay at site #2 with our 21 month old and 4 year old. When we first pulled up I almost had a heart attack seeing how close it was to the road since we had our two little ones with us, but we set things up as we needed a place to stay for the night but it ended up working out so well and the road wasn’t a problem for us. We ended up staying 3 nights and we never felt much anxiety about the road since once we were in the site it was very private and relaxing. Plus there was really only about 1 car an hour coming down the road so it became a non issue. If you’re traveling with little kids I think sites 1 and 2 would be the best to stay in, since they are the most cut off from the road. The sites were peaceful, and well maintained, the view of the river from the sites is magical. Our kids loved riding back and forth from the car to the site in the wagon:) We would recommend for sure!

We loved our stay with kids and dog at Salmon Run! We loved: Privacy- Only 4 sites total. 1, 2 and 4 are most private. 3 is a bit more central, but all surrounded by mossy trees and bushes. Nature sounds- river running and bird chirping! Location- easy access to Kalaloch and Quinault. Other access points to national Park are closed as well. Beautiful area! Saw elk and river otter! Dog friendly- both Kalaloch and Quinault have dog-friendly options, so this location was great for us traveling with a pet. Wish there was a source for water. Port-a-potty was fine considering there are only four sites. Was so meticulously cared for. This would be a place we would definitely come back to.
