Site 10 - Sage Horse Camp!

What a lovely horsecamp! Beautiful setting with peek a boo views of Mt Baker and Straits of San Juan. Hosts Bill and Anna were so friendly and easy to work with. We rode horses and really appreciated the map showing all the great trails. I would highly recommend and would love to go back!

Review for Horse Folks

This review is really only relevant for horse folks. Things to consider, there is only one water spigot and depending on which site you’re in, transporting water back and forth can be difficult, the same goes for manure. There is a map for the trails, however we found it to be somewhat unreliable. For example, it cites a 4.5 mile (one way) ride to a discovery bay lookout, the ride is actually 4.5 miles total, and not well marked on the map. The trails are particularly steep for not much reward (in my opinion). Combined with the fact it was raining but we were also not allowed a campfire, I don’t think we would go back. The camp has a ton of potential, but wasn’t great for our particular needs.

Site 10 - Sage Horse Camp!

Just finished a bike tour staying at ilahee, kitsapp, sage horse camp, and fairholm, and this was our favorite stop of the trip. Gorgeous and remote, with a great view of the stars and surrounding area. Amenities were comfortable, host was accomodating, and it felt like a huge luxury to set up our tent on grass instead of gravel.

Had a blast at the horse camp!

This was my first time camping with horses and the way this camp was set up made everything so easy! Excellent horse camp with lots of trail obstacles to play with and a decent sized arena. I especially liked that the arena had corrals, too. Trail does have atv/dirt bikes but everyone I met was very good about slowing down around the animals. Good spot to car camp even if you don’t have horses. Looking forward to coming back when the fire ban is repealed so I can sit at that great fire ring with my pals.

Great campsite! Love the hammock rope! Was able to have a lovely campfire and the host was so welcoming :) saw some horses around which was also a bonus! Love a horse friendly campground

Sage Horse Camp

We love van camping at Sage Horse Camp. This is our 3rd night here- its been quiet and peaceful every night. We had 5 neighbors last night with it being Lavender Fest. Lots of open spaces and picnic tables. Portapotties are clean and stocked.

Beautiful spot! The campsites were clean, private, and really well maintained. Loved how peaceful the area felt. The sunset was absolutely stunning, easily the highlight of the evening. Would definitely recommend and hope to come back soon. Five stars!

Peaceful and quiet. Rustic, but well-maintained. Just the way we like it. Sites are nicely spaced and easy to get into. The owners put a lot of thought, hard work, and passion into developing this property. They were also friendly and accommodating. We arrived with just our travel trailer (no horses), intending to stay two days, but we liked it so much that we stayed nearly two weeks.

Beautiful place. The slip n slide raft flume was an extra surprise perk for the kids! Horses felt safe and calm. Trails r great. Fun obstacles. Nice mowed place and extra games at the community cabin were helpful. Can't wait to go again. Best spots for hammock hang up, less foot traffic id say is site 4 and 15. We rented 3/4. Very good spot close enough to things and not next to trail heads.

Great, quiet campground. Everything went smoothly. Do note each site does not have water, but there is a spigot at one central location. Friendly and helpful owners, quick response and they checked in with us during our stay to be sure we had everything we needed.

Great camping space. A good amount of distance between each site for privacy and not feeling crowded. Porta-potty was clean as could be and ample hand sanitizer there. Very easy to drive to Sequim or other cities for food, drinks, and hiking. Would recommend for tent or car camping!

Site 9 - Sage Horse Camp!

We had 4 horses, LQ trailer and a tent. The camp was beautiful and clean and we had a blast setting up camp. There were 3 paddocks at site 14 and we used the trailer to make room for all horses. We did have a bit of trouble finding the trails but eventually found a color copy of them on the back of the warming house door. Even though it rained all day on us for one of the 3 days, the sun did come out and everything was fantastic. looks like updating and new obstacles are in the works. It is beautiful there and everyone was very friendly and nice. Highly recommend it for a close but fantastic get away to spend the night with your horses and friends. It was a magical weekend!

Absolutely stunning and beautiful! If you're looking for a quiet place to visit with the serenity of nature and the most friendly hosts, this is a perfect recommendation. The grounds are easy to navigate, the scenery is beautiful and the peace is 100%. Make sure you bring enough warm bags and blankets if you're tent camping in Spring because the temps do drop and can be a bit chilly. We will definitely come back...it's affordable, close to Sequim, stunning and peaceful. You can't ask for better camping or hosts.

Fun place for Horses!

Great Camp, amiable Camp Hosts. We went after a deluge of rain and they let us move to any of the available corrals. Site 3 had an awesome morning sunrise view. For $30/night you certainly get your moneys worth. Corrals, arena, round pen, and obstacle course. One day we rode to a few different places off site. Someone said the trails were intermediate, I would agree, and we enjoyed ourselves! We came across very accommodating motorcyclists and ATVers that were respectful of the horses. The next day we went to Miller Penninsula State Park. What a treat!!! Even better than the first day! Highly recommend!! A prior review ragged on the Obstacle course. Some of the obstacles could use some TLC, so we used what we wanted. Again for $30/night, it’s a bargain and beautiful!!!!!

Site 9 - Sage Horse Camp!

Nice looped drive to reach the sites. Having two corral stalls at each site was also a bonus. Directions are simple and easy to follow. Be prepared for spotty cell service in some site areas. I would come back again. :)
