Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Our backyard might be the most serene you've ever been to! Eight acres of meadow and forest, surrounded by orchards, fields, and the roaring White Salmon River is the getaway that surrounds you with nature but has the comforts of home. The four lodging sites include 3 glamping tents and 1 gravel parking area with hookups for an RV or trailer (20' or less). To enhance everyone's comfort level, we have two plumbed restroom buildings and an outdoor kitchen. There is a large meadow with lawn games and two propane fire pits - and of course, heckling the rafters and kayakers from the riverbank is probably the best entertainment! They love waving and yelling "helllooooo" back! The property is only 15 minutes from Hood River (to the south) and about 25 from Trout Lake (to the north). Outdoor activities are endless in the Columbia Gorge - we have two superior rafting companies located nearby that can take you on a white water excursion down the White Salmon, and if wine is your thing, there are multiple opportunities for local tastings and tours. Waterfalls are abundant in this area and there are a ton of hikes to see them, ranging from easy to difficult. Many of our guests comment on how peaceful it is here and that they've never slept better - so, in order to keep this space as relaxing as possible, I do not allow children unless all three tents are rented by the same party. Children are allowed if staying in an RV or trailer that is hard-sided (ie, nobody will hear the tantrums - whether it's from a child or their parent!) Unfortunately, I do not allow pets. I'm sorry!!! We have 5 of our own who live onsite and I don't want to risk any unwelcome interactions. Our cats (Daisy, Marabelle, and Baby Meow Meow) are friendly and social, so if you have allergies, please just be aware that they might come up to you for a quick visit! We also have two young dogs (Blue who is Husky/Black Lab and Rooster who is Corgie/Blue Heeler). I try to keep the dogs at our house when we have guests but should they come down to the meadow, just know that much like the cats, they are super friendly and love to hang out. While we are located on the river, I do not allow put-ins or dips from our property due to liability - the current is quite strong and the water is glacier-cold. There is a kayak/raft drop-in at BZ Corners, a quick 3 mile drive up the road from us, or at Northwestern Park which is just down the road from us, and there are swimming holes all over the Gorge (just not right here!) Please do not venture past the rock divider at the edge of the riverbank, as doing so could subject you to poison oak that lives along the river's edge. If you want to try your hand at fishing, there is a small trail that leads down to the water's edge near the River House - just beware of the poison oak. Our propane fire pits are communal - one is located next to the kitchen, and one is next to the river. Both have igniters, just read the directions for lighting. We do not allow individual fire pits, nor wood-burning fires due to the county-wide burn ban that is in effect every summer. Our kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, Keurig, electric skillet, 3 propane skillets and a grill, blender, cooking utensils, sink with running water, breakfast table, and extra seating. If you're bringing substantial amounts of food/beverage, you should bring a cooler, as space in the fridge is limited. All food will need to be kept either in the refrigerator bins, or in your own cooler or bin that animals can't get into. I do not provide food products such as coffee, creamer, seasonings, oils, butter, etc - basically anything that could spoil. I do provide a limited number of k-cups for the Keurig, in case you just want a quick (if not that great) cup of coffee in the morning (please limit your use to 2 per person). I offer a 15% discount when all three tents are rented by the same party, so just send me a message if you're interested in bringing friends. I'm also open to hosting small weddings/events of 50 or less - we host our own events here every summer and it's been a hit so I'm offering it up to others as well. Thank you for checking out our unique space!

Riverwild Glamping Tent 2
100% (5)
Safari tent · Sleeps 2
I have an affinity for all things vintage and eclectic, and Tent 2 embodies this infatuation the most! Antique wicker, vintage lamps, an old bookcase and trunk... you might find that the majority of Tent 2's furnishings remind you of Grandma's attic. Tent 2 is the furthest back on the forested hill that the glamping platforms were built on. Its closest neighbor is Tent 1 while Tent 3 is further down the hill. To get to the tent, you will walk from the parking areas past the restroom facilities and follow a short trail up the hill, staying to the right when it "Y's." All tents have unobstructed views of the river and meadow. Each tent has its own unique furnishings and feel but each one includes a queen-size bed, side tables, trunk, desk, and two chairs in the tent. There are two reclining outdoor chairs with a side table and fire bowl on the deck. Items to keep you cozy include linens, pillows, blankets, towels, and robes. It's tough to have climate control in a tent, but ours have 3 large screen-covered windows that zip up for privacy, a large screen-covered entrance, a ceramic heater, a rotary fan, and extra blankets in the trunk. We've also got some local guidebooks and campground info, a hand-held bug zapper, and a citronella candle (for deck use only, not to be brought into the tent). The tents are all 12'x14' on a wooden platform that also includes a 6' deck and awning. There are a few stairs you will need to climb from the ground to the platform.

Riverwild Glamping Tent 1

Safari tent · Sleeps 2
Tent 1 is where adult summer camp begins! Organize your tackle box on the live-edge school desk and hang your hat on the vintage fishing pole. This tent makes us feel like we're 14 again and summer has seeped into our bloodstream! In this tent, you'll be the closest to the restrooms (but honestly, not by much as Tent 2 is right next door). To get to your tent, you'll walk from the parking areas past the restroom facilities and follow a short trail up the hill. Where the steps form a "Y," you'll keep to the left and be on your deck sipping an Arnold Palmer before you know it. All of our tents have beautiful and unobstructed views of the river and meadow. Each tent has its own unique furnishings and feel. Each one includes a queen-size bed, side tables, trunk, desk, and two chairs in the tent. There are two reclining outdoor chairs with a side table and fire bowl on the deck. Items to keep you cozy include linens, pillows, blankets, towels, and robes. Riverwild Glamping Tent 3

Safari tent · Sleeps 2
I like to call it, the Honeymoon Suite! Large bedside tables, an old wicker rocking chair, and an authentic persian rug were collected to create the funky and cozy vibe that this tent embodies. The most private of the three tents, Tent 3 is also the furthest from the activity areas and restrooms., but the closet to the river and meadow. To get to your tent, you'll walk from the parking areas past the restroom facilities and follow a short trail up the hill. Prior to where the steps form a "Y," you'll turn right at the dirt path that goes along the side of the hill towards Tent 3. Riverwild's RV Spot
100% (38)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 6 m
Post up at our RV spot and enjoy a semi-private getaway! Shaded and surrounded by an evergreen forest and the roaring White Salmon River, you might find that you really have no need to go anywhere else. The spot shares eight acres with three glamping tents and a private residence, so there may be others enjoying the common outdoor areas as well. WiFi is available at the RV spot (router and password provided via our welcome guide which is posted on the RV electrical tower). PLEASE NOTE: Our gravel road is compacted but does have loose gravel, especially at the base of the roundabout. 4x4 or AWD is REQUIRED. There is a slight hill as you are coming out of the roundabout (the RV spot is in the center of the roundabout) so you will absolutely need extra traction to get up the hill if you are towing a heavy camper. If you are bringing children, they must be supervised at ALL times as we are in close proximity to the White Salmon River and there are no safety barriers. For the sake of others enjoying the peace and serenity of nature, please contain tantrums in your RV - whether being thrown by a child or a parent! There is an outdoor kitchen, fire pit and dining table located in our meadow. We are only 15 minutes from Hood River and 20 minutes to the Mt Adams Recreation Area. We do not allow pets due to our own (3 cats and 2 dogs) who have run of the property and may come over to say hi to you! The spot has electrical and water but no sewer. The closest dump site is 15 minutes away in Hood River. Max vehicle/trailer length should be no more than 20’ to fit in the space. AWD/4WD vehicle required due to loose gravel and hilly terrain.

Beautiful spot close to town so we got to wine taste and have dinner out one night :) Was so nice to have actual bathrooms with toilets, sinks and showers. The kitchen set up was super, just as described - really nice not to have to bring all our camping gear.

Wow! Beautiful, right on the river. Kitchen had everything, bathrooms/showered were perfect. Enjoyed having coffee by the river, making meals, and getting visited by the pups. Peaceful and relaxing.
