This site was everything we had hoped for. The setting on the Columbia River amazing, with ships passing by!!! Randy greeted us on arrival, answered all our questions about the campsite and the island. Driving directions excellent, campsite very clean. We would go back in a second, thank you Randy!

Randy, the host, is awesome. He helped back our trailer in the spot, told us about a ship tracking app we might like, and all about the tides. A short path to the beach and our blood pressure went down! We watched ships pass day and night. Fabulous!! It was quiet and peaceful. We hated to leave.

My Kids Had So Much Fun!!!

This was one of the best camping experiences my kids have had. The site was gorgeous, Randy and his wife were amazing, checking in on us to make sure everything was going well. The site is just up from the river bank, and my kids spent pretty much 2 days straight playing in the river, watching the large container ships go by. For me, it was a very peaceful place, with very little car traffic driving by. We can't wait to go back next year!

We loved the views of the Columbia River and had so much fun watching the Ship Tracker app as huge ships went by. The beach was beautiful and sandy and you could walk barefoot from the RV place to the beach. The hosts were amazing and took care of any needs that we had, we're friendly and they had added some very nice special touches to the camp area.

Columbia River Haven

The photos did not do this place enough justice. We enjoyed our stay completely and were happy for the opportunity to wade and fish in the Columbia River. The boats entertained our son. We loved foraging for blackberries around the property and viewing the horses across the street. We couldn't be more grateful for our stay.

Perfect spot with a kind and generous host. Simply wonderful to sleep on the bank of a river channel trafficked by 200 to 400 meter ships. Fantastic swimming.

This site was perfect! It had everything we needed. The bathroom was nice and there was wood waiting for us when we got there. The beach area by the river was nice to walk on. It was quiet, which our anxious dog appreciated. Definitely recommend!

Amazing Camp and Camp Hosts!

Randy and his wife made staying there a pleasure! He made sure we had everything we needed once we arrived, the view is amazing and the swimming was great! Says our kids! We had our own trail to the beach and a nice fire pit area, along with Corn Hole set up for us to utilize if we wanted. The outhouse was a cute touch for those who don't have their own potty with them. To wake up every morning and see the local island deer right outside our window was amazing. We will for sure be back for another stay!

Perfect little gem

Randy's place was great. Wonderful attention to detail. They really did a nice job with everything. All the details are well done from the Outhouse, to the privacy fence, to the fire pit, hook up, etc.. Location is relaxing and beautiful. Would highly recommend. Took a great walk down the beach this am and had a great time watching the large ships..

Super Unique Spot, Thoughtful Setup

Parking our RV & hooking up was a breeze at RC Island. We loved hearing about the land and getting the insider knowledge of the tides to take full advantage of the huge beach in all the different ways available on this unique property. Watching the ships was SO cool and almost felt like an ocean. The spot itself was clearly put together with a lot of care and thought and we would definitely stay again!

Awesome beach spot

RC Island was great! We loved all the love Randy put into his place to make it more than just a camping spot. There are solar tiki torches, picnic table, fire pit, and corn hole. When we arrived Randy greeted us and gave to low down on a few times, he was great. The beach/river was perfect for our toddler and we enjoyed watching the boats. We will definitely be back!

Private beach, had a blast!

My wife, two kids (10 and 8), and Labrador (6 months) just spent the week camping at RC Island. It was a beautiful site on the island and was very private. The site has a few walking paths directly to a beach on the river and the slope of the beach allows for safe swimming in the river. We basically had our own swimming pool the size of half a football field! The hosts were extremely welcoming and accommodating. They even had the fireplace built upon arrival and ready to light. The bathroom had a modern compost toilet which was very clever, was clean, and didn’t smell. Good power and water hookups, and plenty of space to accommodate all sizes of campers. Our puppy will likely sleep for the next two days 😁

Peaceful spot with epic views!

RC Island is absolutely amazing! Beautiful, peaceful spot right on the Columbia River’s shipping lane. The whole island is beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed biking around the island, floating in the river on tubes, and hunting for beach treasures when the tide was out, not to mention watching all the ships pass by. This spot is truly unique and a place I look forward to visiting again. We angled our trailer to soak up the view and plug in to the provided 30amp power and water. As the mother of a toddler, I really enjoyed how we had a great view of the water from our campsite, but I didn’t need to worry about my little one being too close to the water when at camp since it’s a short hike to reach the beach. I also appreciated the fact that the road wasn’t even remotely busy and that there was plenty of space to maneuver our 19’ trailer to create a natural barrier between the campsite and the road. Felt really good and safe the whole time. The island is close to the little town of Cathlamet where you can eat out if you want or pick-up any needed essentials for camp. The last day we experienced quite a bit of wind and had to take refuge in the trailer for a while but the view was so great, we didn’t mind at all! Really can’t say enough good things about this place! Already trying to book another trip out there!

Beautiful view of the Columbia River. If you paddle, bring your vessel. Peaceful. Private beach. Calm in the morning but windy at night. Would highly recommend. The host has taken care to make the site beautiful and private. It has tasteful electric torches that come on at night. Water hookup and electric hookup. Restroom. Would certainly recommend.

A Uniquely Special Spot!

We really enjoyed RC Island, it was a highlight camping spot for sure. The unique quiet setting is really special. The site is on a rural island in the Columbia River with a beach and great views of the river. We enjoyed seeing the cargo ships and ferry going past. We would stay here again!

Chilling out on the river!

Randy’s place was the perfect place to decompress from the world. Wildlife abound at the location, with nice beach access. Watching the freighters, and tug/barge assemblies motor by was a treat. I highly recommend this spot for anyone. Level tv site, and hook ups for the creature comforts of RV-ing. We were a little concerned about the road being close to camp, but there was more traffic on the river, than on the road. Thanks for letting us stay! Hopefully we will return soon!

Columbia Riverfront Camping

Super unique location on a beautiful (accessible) island! We positively loved watching the boats sail by and letting our dog play on the super private beach. Randy’s hipcamp was clean, cute, had easy hook ups for power, a little table for playing games on a plenty of firewood he graciously shared with us. It was a wonderful and convenient home base for exploring Astoria, OR and the surrounding WA areas. Would stay here again for sure!
