Near North Cascades National Park
Within a 30-minute drive from the North Cascades National Park Wilderness Information Center.
Huckleberry Hideout is situated at the top of a steep driveway. CAUTION: Longer vehicles tend to drag on the pavement as they transition from the highway to our driveway. Situated at the foot of Sauk Mountain, this is forest land. Here you will find cedar, maple, hemlock, and Douglas fir trees. Bordered by a state park, a national forest, and a rushing, spring-fed creek, it is mostly peaceful here. If you are anywhere near the creek, you will hear it. Being right on Highway 20, we do get some traffic noise. And sometimes, the local fire department siren sounds off to call the volunteers.
From here, it is about a 35 mile drive to the North Cascades National Park Visitor Center.Shady Hilltop is a rustic campsite (no water or power). A shared outhouse is available. The site is shaded from the morning sun by cedar trees, and is next to a ravine which has a mountain spring fed creek at the bottom.
