35 acres hosted by Phillip B.

My ex-wife's Grandmother, Millie Stredwick, came west with her husband in the early 1900's, they homesteaded 1280 Acres which they farmed with the help of their 12 children. I purchased 35 acres from the estate when Millie passed. It is pretty primitive, but we are making improvements all the time. It is centrally located with the Columbia River 15 miles west, and the Snake river 15 miles to the East. Juniper dunes is a 20 minute drive to the East. Grand Coiled Damn is less than an hour North and the Tri-Cities is 20 minutes to the South.

Quiet, cool, trees and birds.
Lovely oasis in the Palouse. Not obvious from the road, secluded but feels safe. Wildlife (owls) and trees to keep you cool. Open space with plenty of sky and no ambient/artificial light. Just perfect for a few days away!

Hidden gem in the middle of nowhere
Booked this spot as our first experience with Hipcamp, and was really surprised at what a great time it was. Phil, the owner, was super helpful and pleasant when we showed up. Besides that, we didn't see anyone else for 2 days! It was like having our own personal dry camping resort. Know what you are getting into, but if this is the experience you want I highly recommend it!

Disappointed.
The site was very cute, we stayed in the woods with the owls. We tried to contact the host multiple times, directly through Hipcamp and attempted to call the number provided, and heard absolutely nothing from him. I told him we were going to stay in the trees because we were hammocking and needed a place to hang up our hammocks. I paid an extra $5 for firewood, and there was no firewood provided, we had to walk around the property to find some old stumps and chop up a few fallen trees for wood. The whole property felt quite creepy, and I’m sure that wouldn’t have been the case if we had met our host, my friend and I were creeped out by the spot and some of the noises we heard throughout the night. I’ve been to a number of Hipcamp sites at this point, and every single host has gotten back to me quickly and met us when we arrived. Not sure if there was a miscommunication with us being there or not, but we were definitely a bit disappointed.

Lost hope in Hope valley
It seems apparent that hope has been lost at Hope Valley HipCamp. What might have been a fun place seems to have faded in the sun and burned out. The remains of outdoor activities were scattered about, the shed and surrounding accumulations burned and remain. My brother and I, on a 5 night camping trip, decided to stay anyway. We blocked our view of the carnage with the van, closed the curtains on that side of the van and took in the 180 degree view of farmland and distant hills. We both knew we would never get our wife/partner to stay here. We never met Phillip although we were in view of the house. If you are in to dystopian experiences this spot’s for you.

Worst camping experience ever
We had a difficult time finding the site. The site is located about a mile down a roughly maintained irrigation maintenance road. When we pulled up to the site, Philip was not wearing a shirt when he greeted us. We followed Philip’s directions to the site, which was located in a grove of trees. The site had trash strewn around and reminded me of a homeless encampment. I could not find the toilet, but I did see a roll of toilet paper hanging on a low tree limb. We decided not to set up our tent in the trees because we didn’t feel safe. There was plenty of room to set up our tent in an empty field; however, my children and I didn’t feel safe at all at Hope Valley Outdoor Adventures and decided to drive through the night to our next destination rather than stay another minute at Philip’s property. Additionally, I keep receiving random phone callls and text messages from the camp host. If you are traveling with children, don’t waste your money on this site.
