This is an ideal spot for a great day on the river. Wonderful river access with places to launch off kayaks, or swim about. There are even little ponds and pools for the younger ones to get in and be safe from the deeper river. My youngest had lots of fun watching the fish fry and tadpoles. Additionally, the porta potty was extremely clean! It seemed brand new or freshly serviced. We had seven people in our group and there was plenty of toilet paper and hand sanitizer for the weekend.
However, if you decide to camp here, you need to be aware that this spot is right next to a busy road. There were loud trucks and motorists all night long. We almost left after the first night but stuck it out for the night stars and fire side chats.
This spot would probably be best for RVs or sleeping in your car.

When we made the reservation, it was prior to many of the reviews saying the site is right off the Hwy. It is seriously very close to HWY 6. The speed limit being 55mph. Makes for a very loud camping experience. We were looking for a relaxing family weekend and were excited to be on the river, with access. Which if you’re down on the river the traffic goes away. Unfortunately, once you are up doing meals, campfire, games and sleeping it’s very loud. I would highly recommend earplugs. The owners were very nice, helpful and accommodating. Excellent communication in regards to the reservation. They reached out to get an idea of who we were bringing and even telling us to switch to the better site for tents. I truly appreciate that.

we where so excited to stay here, we had booked Thursday -Sunday for our yearly family vacation we actually left Friday morning due to all the traffic going by all night long including diesels and no one got any sleep. This should be an Rv or Camper only spot no tent camping as you are within a few feet of a major road and anyone can walk into the campsite cause they can actually see your tents as they pass by we spent a lot of money to only have one night

Once you're down at the river it's really very cool for kids or a dog or anyone enjoying the water.
The geology of the rock formations are particularly interesting and it was very relaxing to fish (one bite).
The road was noisier than we expected but I could definitely see how the river is the focus and it would be fun with a large group as we saw next door.
The rain eventually curtailed our adventure.
I would recommend this site for a river side gathering, just as long as no one minds the noisy road.

The host is very accommodating and responsive. The directions were spot on. We stayed in campsite #1, spaced out well from the other site. Loved the river front view! Loved the access! The campsite is large, we had 5 tents and could have easily placed more. A couple callouts, it is very close to the highway if you have young children that wonder it could be very dangerous. You can hear the cars at the campsite and see them. Also, if you have dogs that don’t have a strong recall. We had young children and dogs, and they did just fine. However, I could see that being a concern for other parents or pet owners. Overall, our family really enjoyed our time!

Beautiful spot. We rented both spots for two trailers and two tents. Porta potty at site was very clean. Lots of places to put extra tents and vehicles. Nice place to swim, fish and canoe or float the river. Grandkids, and dogs had a blast. Owner was very easy to work with. Close enough to town to grab something you forgot, far enough out to feel like you are in the wilderness.

Stayed here 3 nights in early August. Very beautiful property! The river access trail is a little steep but easy to manage if you're careful. If you're tent camping, I suggest booking campsite #1, as campsite #2 doesn't have a flat, grassy spot for a tent. Perfect for an RV or camp trailer though! Water and power are available at each site.
We booked this campsite with the plan to visit Rainbow Falls State Park, but found that the campsite was more enjoyable!
Recommend bring some water shoes (for human and canines) to enjoy the river, as the rocks are kind of sharp to cross to get to the river.
This spot is definitely on our short list of campsites to return to in the future.

We were in #1, space was more secluded feeling than #2. We pulled into the space which put our door and sitting area right on the river. The view is wonderful, and the river is right there. This space also gave ample room for our tent campers. The tents both had power with extension cords. We brought our kayaks and had fun all day in the water. Just up the road is a spot to be dropped off to float to the campsite. The porta-potty was super clean and was lighted at night. We were very glad we stayed and do plan on coming back!

Beautiful spot on the river., very well maintained. Granddaughters had a blast chasing tadpoles and tubing the wild rapids. ( no rapids but to a 4 and 8 year old……🤷♂️)

Overall we had a lovely time. There is a nice little path down to the river you can easily access directly from the site. It led to a small beach with a shin deep pool which lead to the main river channel. Our 4 year could wade in the sandy bottom and strong 8 year old swimmer enjoyed floating down the slow flow river and walking back up. The site is large and nicely separated from the other occupants. The string lights around the porta potty were a nice touch for evening use.
We were tent camping and I would not recommend for other tent campers as HWY 6 is about 150 feet from the site and busy throughout the day and night. If you’re in a van/RV it probably wouldn’t have been as noticeable.

We had a great time. The portapotty was incredibly clean when we checked in. You are near a busy road, but the campsites are hidden from view, so you do have quite a bit of privacy. It does also quiet down at nighttime. The host is very fast to respond and accommodating when we needed to switch campsites.

Beautiful views and amazing river access, but the site is right off a busy highway. Fairly loud and not great for off-leash pets. Perfect for stopping overnight with a camper.

I've used Hipcamp for several years now and have always enjoyed the experience we are a very self sufficient family and so often there's obstacles to overcome when using a site but this was definitely one of the best places we have stayed.

We loved rv and tent camping at Hampton's hideaway! Grandkids had the most fun living there best life. Looked for tadpoles, watched eagles fly and fish jump, took walk-a-bouts to collect sticks and rocks.alrwady planning next trip! THANK YOU ELIZABETH 😊

Great relaxing quiet weekend! We love this spot right on river with beautiful sunsets. Close to rainbow falls park and hiking trails. We will be back!
