Heron's Rookery at Yakima River
Right on the water! My family and I went fly fishing right off the river from camp and loved every minute of it. The camp’s trees were a great spot to retreat to when the sun was too hot and our group was in need of shade. Would love to come back again!

We loved RV & Tent camping at Heron's Rookery. The site was clean, had a great walk up to the river, and we had a blast hanging around the fire pit. There were hook ups for the RV, which made everything that much easier. Highly recommend!

The spot was clean, level and easy to get in to. The host was responsive to my questions. Right on the river and a quiet country road to walk on. It was just my dog and myself and I felt safe there. Recommend!

There’s reviews I read with people talking about the highway being loud and excessive. With my wife and I being there, it wasn’t an issue at all and the view, sound of the river, and overall peacefulness phased out any other nonsense. Overall, awesome location and I know I’ll be happy to go back to this spot again in the future.

This was a 10/10 stay. My husband, dogs and two kids (3yrs and 7 months) came in our camper beginning of October. It was perfect in every way possible (besides breaking down half way and needing to get our second vehicle to us to keep on keeping on) the river the views, trails and the fact that we had all the hook ups was just bliss. Would have stayed extra days if we knew this would be such a perfect spot.

Clean, right on the river which covers most of the noise from I-90 which is a short distance away. Nice and dark at night. I travel with a cassette toilet; those who don’t have some sort of toileting capability might consider some other option as Heron’s Rookery has none.

Mixed feelings about this site.
Pros:
It was right on the river with private river access. Most of the camp area you would use had river rock brought in so it wasn't dirty and dusty. While there are properties on either side, it did feel fairly private. Host was responsive and kind.
Cons: Biggest issue was noise from I-90. It did not stop. While sitting by the river we could barely hear the river most of the time over the highway noise. We had to elevate our voices and speak loudly to be heard. Also the hookups were set up in a weird way. If you pull into the site, the electricity is on the correct side. However, the water and sewer were on the opposite side. Our sewer hose was not long enough to reach so we could not hook up the sewer. The other option would be to back into the site, but then your door would be facing away from the camp off into the bushes which does not make sense. Having the utilities split on either side is something I have not seen before at any campsite. Also if you pull into the site as needed to face your camper the correct way, there was a very tight turn to get the truck back out. Someone with a larger truck or not very good navigation skills would have a hard time getting out from between the trees.
Overall I think it's an okay site, just not quite as expected.

It was a lovely camp spot with plenty of room and a lovely view! The road noise was a bit obnoxious, so if you're looking for quiet, this isn't quite the place, but otherwise a great site!

Amazing weekend here at Heron’s Rookery. We celebrated my son’s birthday with a camping trip here and we absolutely loved it! The space is so private & we were able to swim in the river and enjoy the view. We were so impressed at how much space there was to pitch tents and set up our kitchen and bathroom areas. The spot was well kept and the river was so much fun! We had two toddlers & a dog & a big family and there was more than enough space for everyone. 10/10 experience. We will absolutely be returning. We were looking for quiet place to get away from every day life and Heron’s Rookery did not disappoint. Loved the location ( beautiful view), campsite was more than adequate, easy beach access and loved being able to walk down the roads. Would highly recommend!

Loved this camp spot, not too far from town and I-90 but definitely quiet and relaxing. The campsite was clean and private and the power hookups were perfect for our tent trailer! Will definitely be back!

Jeremy's spot is all the things wonderful about camping. Not only are you directly on the river, Heron's Rookery is also secluded and spacious, plenty of room for yourself, friends and all camping units. I really appreciated that. There are hookups for electricity, water and sewage, a great space for self-contained units. I had the most wonderful time relaxing by the water and enjoying the calm space around me.

Jeremy was an excellent host and I highly recommend his property - access to water and power, plenty of room and right on the river - we loved our stay and we will most definitely stay again. We had a 24 foot RV and access to the site was easy and happy hour by the river was spectacular - also, great fly fishing on the river in front of the camp!

Our family loved the quiet, senic camping site. The river and breeze were wonderful for cooling off and relaxing from the heat. We will definitely keep this on our list to visit again. There are a number of hikes close by to explore.
