Hi! Welcome to Custer Family Glamping! We are so glad you are here ;) Our 10-acre property is located in Custer, WA in the Northwest corner of Whatcom County. Custer is an easy 20-minute drive to Bellingham, 10-15 minutes to 2 coastal beaches (Birch Bay and Semiahmoo), and only 10 minutes to Blaine and the Canadian border. We love to host our friends and show people around our beautiful slice of the PNW🌲 We are a big family, so we designed all of our glamping sites to be kid and pet friendly and big enough to fit families of 2-6. A little luxury and ease for the grownups and a magical nature experience for the kids. Kids are allowed to "just be" here. Cellular reception isn't great but no one seems to notice. Not when they are busy building forts, roasting marshmallows and climbing up tree houses. The intention infused into all of our spaces is a Hygge* (pronounced hoo-gah) vibe. *Hygge is a calm, comfortable time with people you love. The absence of frustrations; often enjoyed with warm drinks, cozy blankets and candlelight or a fire.❤️ County Noise Statement: We love living in rural Whatcom County and we know land owners in our area love it too. In fact, their enthusiasm for the great outdoors is so high that sometimes they can generate sounds that will travel throughout the day. These are likely sounds you are not accustomed to hearing in a traditional neighborhood. Distant noises such as: -county shooting range located a few miles away -tractors -mowers & chainsaws -ATV vehicles -barking dogs -farm animals (goat, horses, crowing roosters) -wild animals (early morning bird song and owls at night) -children laughing -adult voices -train horn Evenings are generally very quiet and peaceful as night falls with the exception of holiday weekends as the enthusiasm for owning property in the country may ramp up ;) We tell you all this in order to be fully transparent about noise potential. If the potential for noise and the nearby shooting range will be a damper on your glamping experience, no worries! We totally get it! Our place is probably not the best fit. If you want to bring your kids to a place where they can build a fort, take a break from their screens and build family memories over a campfire, then you will love it here! Our family built this glamping site in our back woods area during the quarantine of 2020.  It provided our family of 6 a wonderful getaway!  We designed 2 glamping sites with the intention of creating a Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) vibe.  Hygge is a calm comfortable time with people you love.  The absence of frustrations; often enjoyed with good food and drinks, cozy blankets and candlelight or a fire. ❤️ Our property is located in Custer, WA in the Northwest corner of Whatcom County.  Easy 20-minute drive to Bellingham, 10-15 minutes to coastal beaches (Birch Bay & Semiahmoo), and 10 minutes to Blaine and the Canadian border.  We love hosting our campers and friends and are happy to share ideas for local farms, hiking trails, and ways to make your gathering on our farm special! Everything you need to be comfortable is available in the tent ⛺️  Comfortable full-sized bed with 100% organic cotton sheets and warm bedding, 4 pillows, cot bunk beds which are great for kids up to age 10).   This site includes a clean, shared outhouse and a beautiful, custom-built washroom complete with a sink and mirror.   Also a wood-burning cookstove, hand-built briquette BBQ, large picnic table, fire pit, and plenty of seating for a special fireside experience.   *Be sure to add coffee service...There is literally nothing better than waking up to freshly brewed coffee in the woods! ☕️ We installed a wood-burning stove in the tent this season! 🔥 It is so cozy and warm even on the chilly fall nights in the Northwest.  Fire fixings included :) 1.5 acres of woods allows for fun outdoor games, fort building, and woodlands exploration. 🌲 A true highlight of our space is the treehouse, which is open and available to campers of all ages :) It is a short walk (~2min) from the parking area with a wagon available.  The glamping sites are located quite far from our home.  However, the camping area is surrounded by neighboring properties.  Although you will be secluded, the sounds of the country community travel throughout the day.  As evening falls, it's typically peaceful and quiet. ⭐️

This 5M bell tent is located in our pasture.  Early morning sun 😎  and warm sunshine throughout the day with mid-afternoon shade.  Views of rustic barn, trees and farmland with stargazing at night.  ⭐️  The maintained grass area is framed in by tall pasture grass that provides a tranquil setting and is private from the other glamping site. Lots of grass space for yard games and sun seeking! Also, includes a playhouse just behind the tent. Everything you need to be comfortable is available in the tent. ⛺️  A full-sized bed, 100% organic cotton sheets from Avocado and warm blankets.  Wood burning stove for colder nights plus seating and room to move around. This site includes a clean, shared outhouse and a custom-built handwashing station.  Also a lovely gathering area with a picnic table, solar powered lighting, and a fire pit with seating for 2 at the bistro table or more at the picnic table. *Be sure to add coffee service...There is literally nothing better than waking up to freshly brewed coffee as the sun rises! ☕️ It is a short walk (~2min) from the parking area with a wagon available.  The glamping sites are located quite far from our home.  However, the camping area is surrounded by neighboring properties.  Although you will be secluded, the sounds of the country community travel throughout the day.  As evening falls, it's typically peaceful and quiet. ⭐️

ABOUT THE SITE: Happy Glamper Micro Cabin This off-grid glamping cabin is great for couples, friends, or solo campers.  Sleeps up to 3 persons.  1 x full size bed and floor space. Have more people? No problem!! Check out our other glamping options to combine sites or message us for group glamping options. This cute little glamper is tucked away in our forest acreage. Early morning sun 😎 and views of our rustic barn, trees and farmland. Everything you need to be comfortable will be available in the cabin. ⛺️ A full-sized bed, 100% organic cotton sheets from Avocado and warm blankets.   The mini is insulated and has a small propane heater.  A power box supplies energy for lights and recharging devices to add a touch of urban living.  This site includes a clean, nearby outhouse with marine flush toilet, sink and mirror. Also a lovely gathering area with a picnic table, lighting, a fire pit/grill, propane BBQ and seating.  Gazebo coming soon!! *Be sure to add coffee service...There is literally nothing better than waking up to freshly brewed coffee as the sun rises! ☕️ It is a short walk (~2min) from the parking area with a wagon available and accessed via shared road with the two other glamping sites on the property.   The glamping sites are located quite far from our home. Easy 20-minute drive to Bellingham, 10-15 minutes to coastal beaches (Birch Bay & Semiahmoo), and 10 minutes to Blaine and the Canadian border. 🌿 GROUP DETAILS Group size Our property offers an excellent setting for a group retreat ❤️ , family reunion, bachelorette party or just a simple gathering of friends for a maximum of 20 people. This is a flexible number and it depends on how many self sustaining units you bring! Please note that we have only one standard porta potty available. For larger groups, we may need to order a second one :) Set up tents in any cleared and leveled areas or find your own sweet spot. Glamping sites Group site includes all 3 of our glamping retreats and the infamous tree house + plenty of forest/pasture areas to pitch a tent. RV's and camper vans are possible too (no hook-ups). Message us for options! You will have every location offered in all of those images. Bathroom We have 1 very clean, new porta potty that will be shared between all guests. There is also a custom built hand-washing station at each site for teeth brushing and washing hands. 🌿 ON PREMISE ACTIVITIES We have hosted our own annual family glamp-out here for the past 5 years! We are happy to work with your group to create awesome activities including: -Yard games - cornhole boards, Kubb, croquet, ladder ball all available by request -Visit from the Sugar Shack ice cream truck -Kickball - we'll mow you a court and include the ball + bases (Ask us about our infamous sprinkler kickball!) -Dutch oven cook out -Pottery Studio on site - kids clay lessons and wheel throwing demonstration can be added to your visit -Berry Picking - visit our next door neighbors U-Pick farm for fresh raspberries and blueberries (June - September) -Outdoor movie night -Group photo - we'll make sure to capture this for you so that the weekend is documented! 🌿 OFF PREMISE ACTIVITIES Our friends usually want to hang out on the farm but there is lots to do in the area too! We are happy to recommend our favorite spots and set up any group tours you need! -Kayak and Paddle Board rentals -Birch Bay Water Slides -Home Farm - U-Pick farm and lots of summer activities -Great Breweries in Bellingham Many, many other possibilities! The glamping sites are located quite far from our home. However, the camping area is surrounded by neighboring properties. This campsite was everything my kids and I could have hoped for—and more! From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a dream. The treehouse alone was worth the trip—cozy, creative, and so much fun for the kids (and me too, let’s be honest). It had the perfect balance of adventure and comfort. What truly blew me away was how thoughtfully everything was set up. They didn’t miss a single detail. We had everything we needed—from kitchen essentials to little touches like a speaker for music, which made our evenings around the fire feel extra special. You can tell this place was created by someone who genuinely understands what makes camping feel effortless and memorable. It was peaceful, clean, and had that magical “hidden gem” vibe. We’ve already talked about coming back, and I can’t recommend it enough to other families looking for an escape that blends nature with comfort. Hands down one of our favorite trips ever!

We loved our short stay at Sarah and Jake's beautiful glamping site. We drove up from Seattle area for the weekend to celebrate our son's birthday close to nature. We are a family of 4 with 8 and 6 yr olds. The glamping site is as represented in the pics. The fireplace inside with good exhaust system made the inside super cozy and we had loads of fun playing board games inside. The toilets and sinks were well maintained and clean. There was a storm in the night that we stayed and we were well protected and dry inside. We also spent time in the Semiahmoo beach and Birch Bay State Park that are close by. Overall we had a lovely weekend and will definitely do this again.

The site was cute, and they accommodated my need for some dishes and BBQ tools. Unfortunately it decided to pour down rain most of the time we were there, which lead to a crabby disposition of the children. We had to leave early, but not because of anything on the hosts part. I would return if I felt up to trying to take my kids camping again. 😅

We had a really nice time glamping at Jake and Sarah's place! It was easy to locate, adorable, super clean, and had plenty of privacy. Overall, we found the space quite comfortable for an overnight with 2 kiddos. Everything matched the listed description accurately. We enjoyed the beautiful forest, the covered picnic table, the BBQ area, the awesome fire pit, and easy access to handwashing/restroom. Our kids played happily in the treehouse all evening with new friends from the campsite next door. There was some continuous noise from the nearby shooting range, but nothing loud enough to interfere with our enjoyment of the campsite, and it quieted down well before bedtime. As it got dark, the rain started coming down pretty hard and continued all night, but not to worry- the tent was super cozy and dry inside, with nice warm bedding! The temperature was mild enough that we didn't need to use the wood stove in the tent, but it was sure nice to know that option was available just in case. We would definitely love to visit again!

It was a good stay, and as advertised. Never saw the hosts, pretty easy approach and the spot was a good distance away from the house. Yurts are nice. We did two in a bed, three adults in bags on the ground. Comfortable enough.

What a wonderful getaway! The spot was tucked away and private. It was a really nice blend of rugged and comfy (definitely more comfy)! We arrived late so they left the lights on. Walking into camp with the beautiful lights was just the beginning of a very wonderful and relaxing adventure! The bathroom was restored nice too! They really thought of everything and have made a retreat that I will definitely come back to!

We LOVED our weekend in Custer. Jake and Sarah had everything we could need and more! Our tent was clean and comfortably fit our family of 6. Jake was very nice and accommodating. The freeway, gas station and grocery store are only 6min away. We checked out the other sites and are already planning our family trip for next year!

Incredible spot! Jake and Sarah were super accommodating as I accidentally booked two spots for the same night. They saved the day by shifting us into this pasture spot. It was great. Very comfortable and well equipped tent. Wonderful beds and beautiful layout. They have some loud neighbors but thinking that was not a usual event.

Jake and Sarah's property is awesome and we loved the hidden forest site. The space between the 2 other sites were nice so you had lots of privacy. The firewood can be hit and miss at camp sites but the firewood here is perfect and makes starting fires super easy which was a plus! Their farm fresh eggs were some of the best eggs we have had, make sure to buy some off them if you plan to stay! The only thing to be aware of is a gun range a few miles away. Im sure it was enhanced with july 4th weekend celebrations but you do hear gun shots going off throughout the day. Jake and Sarah were lovely people and very good hosts!!

We went camping with friends who also have a 1 year old. It was the perfect spot. We loved being able to glamp and have nice, comfy, beds to sleep on and then go outside and enjoy nature. Jake and Sarah had great directions, were super responsive, and clear with their directions and rules. We love this spot and would love to come back and bring other friends too.

My family loved camping at Jake and Sarah's glamping site! It was very kid friendly (my 6yo and 10yo played for hours in the tree house). The tent was so cozy and comfortable. The space of forest really made it feel like you were secluded, it was such a fun, private, relaxing setting and we will definitely be back!

Me and my two kids (8&4yrs) had an adventure weekend in the forest glamping yurt. We played and explored the forest and nearby beaches and they were sound asleep early every night. Beautiful memories have been made. I plan to come again as soon as possible. Thank you to Jake and Sarah for dreaming this experience up and making it happen.

What a beautiful spot for a weekend getaway! Felt like a million miles from the world but so conveniently located for us coming from Canada it was ten minutes over the border. The site has everything you could possibly need, the outdoor area is well designed with fire pit, grill, covered picnic area and the cutest little outdoor sink. The tent was snuggly warm with the wood burner on despite the rain and cold outside. We couldn't have asked for more, felt very lucky and managed to truly switch off and relax. Jake and Sarah are fantastic hosts, great communication and provided everything we needed. Will recommend to friends! Thank you!

This is a lovely little cabin that had some very cozy little touches all throughout, and the outdoor space is beautifully designed — string lights, seating, hammocks, and a grill. Also slept really deeply in the comfortable bed with the cool breeze coming in through all of the windows! It's a couple minutes' walk from the parking, but there are handy wagons you can use to haul your things in, and clear signs to follow. It's so nice and quiet out there in the forest, a peaceful retreat.

We loved our time at the pasture glamping site! It was so incredibly beautiful and peaceful, with plenty of open space around the area. The tall grass around the edge of the site made it feel like we were a million miles from anyone else. We're hoping to come back in the fall!
