Owen is a super kind and responsive camp host. He was very welcoming and shared some of his knowledge about fishing the river from his years of experience on the water.
The campsite itself was extremely clean and probably the cleanest porta potty ive ever seen. Plus its just a hop and skip away from the barrier dam fishing site. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Thanks, Owen!

We had such a wonderful experience! Owen was such a great host and very kind and helpful.

Had a great time at the campsite. We took our kayaks and went out to Mayfield lake for the day. The campsite was great for us and our dogs hanging out by the campfire.

Owen has quick to respond and make sure we had good directions from the get-go! There is a small chainlink gate and he had it down and the site ready when we arrived. Contact over text only but he was definitely open to popping over if we needed anything.
The site was clean, level, and set up nicely.
Great space for us to relax and the dogs had freedom to run around and explore. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

Super nice and quiet, Owen came by when we first got there and introduced himself as well as explaining a few things, which was super nice! The porta potty was super clean and so was the rest of the camp!

Owen, the host was super engaging and even gave us some homemade apple butter that his wife had canned, it was wonderful. Unfortunately, the space for each campsite was rather small and they were right next to each other. Luckily, I rented both sites because I didn't want to have to stress about my dog not getting along with another dog. In the photos it led me to believe that the river was just a short trail walk from the campsite, but in reality, it's across the street and about half mile walk down to the public area of the barrier dam. Serious fisherman fish there and do not appreciate people letting their dogs in the water. Also there was allot of road noise due to the fact that your right next to the road

I absolutely loved this space! As a solo camper with mobility issues this was perfect for my dog and me.
It is directly off the road but it doesn't feel like it, especially in camp #2.
The peaceful birdsong & the sound of frogs provides a peaceful soundtrack, which is occasionally accompanied by the horns down on the river at the hatchery.
While the site itself doesn't have hiking trails, it's just minutes away from 2 different fish hatcheries, river access & other local wildlife attractions.
When I arrived I was greeted warmly by Owen, who came bearing gifts from him & his wife - a jar of delicious apple butter, some freshly picked cherries & half a dozen fresh eggs...I had forgotten how delicious farm fresh eggs really are!
My dog really enjoyed the space - but it's definitely wise to leash your dogs & small children for safety. (My dog is generally stuck to me like Velcro & rarely wanders off, but he did & got too close to the road - 💯 my fault for having him off leash)
This site is excellent for folks who are new to solo camping & want to learn with a safety net.
It's also excellent if you have mobility issues and can't walk far to set up a camp. You can back your car right up to either site to unload & set up camp.
It also boasts the cleanest out house I've ever seen (seriously).
tl;dr It's a easy access site, pretty, birdsong central to several pretty places to walk, Owen is a great host, clean outhouse & good for those with mobility issues.

Owen did a wonderful job of creating a peaceful and inviting space to camp. We rented both sites for a group camping trip and spent 2 nights. We were surrounded by trees, wildflowers and birds. The large gravel area was level and accommodated a 10x20 canopy and 4 cars with plenty of room to get around. Both sites had a large, level, sandy area with a fire ring and lots of room for tents. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. Even though we were bordered by 2 roads, the noise was minimal during the day and gone by night.
Owen is a friendly and responsive host. He stopped by at check-in to make sure we had everything we needed and gifted us fresh eggs and homemade apple butter, and swung by another time to make sure we were still doing alright and brought us fresh picked cherries. What a treat! I highly recommend Owen's site and plan to stay again when I'm back in the area. And if you're into fishing, be sure to ask about his guided trips!

Owen was a great host. He was very communicative and he took the time to greet us at the site. He even went out of the way and brought us eggs from his chickens and some homemade plum jam that his wife made.

Owen is an excellent host, very communicative and helpful. The campsite itself is impressively large, providing ample space for a 40’ truck and trailer, a 12’ screen room, a family-size tent, and a second vehicle, with room to spare for easy navigation around the site.
The view of the road is partially obscured, which enhances the sense of privacy, although cars can still be heard until evening when traffic slows down. Nighttime offers a serene atmosphere with visible stars in the sky, creating a perfect ambiance for stargazing.
Throughout the day, the campsite is alive with birds, offering fantastic opportunities for birdwatching. Hummingbirds are especially delightful, often visiting the flowers around the site.
For convenience, a small market in Salkum, located just 1.5 miles away, is great for quick ice runs or grabbing any essentials. Moreover, the river is only about 0.8 miles from the campsite, adding to the variety of outdoor activities available in the area. The onsite porta-potty was clean and convenient, adding to the overall comfort of the stay.
Overall, this campsite provides a blend of spaciousness, natural beauty, and accessibility, making it a wonderful destination for families and nature lovers alike.
