Offering a lovely, personal campsite area surrounded by beautiful trees nestled in the back of a ranch with horses (and chickens) just on the outskirts of the small, charming town of Yelm. (In some of the pictures you will see the horses in the area of the camp, but whenever there are campers they will not be turned out there.) There is 20 amp electric (which can safely power a 30 amp rv unless you run too many things at once) and water (hose). There is a porta-potty and a shower shed with a tankless water heater for your convenience. 1 Hour to Mt. Rainier National Park. 1 1/2 hours to Olympia National Park. 2 1/2 hours to Mt. St. Helens. 1 hour to Seattle. Close to Puget Sound and loads of nature spots. Local hiking and fishing aplenty. Our property is surrounded by nature, yet only a 5 minute drive into town where you will find charming shops, restaurants, cafes and coffee houses. There is also a fabulous movie theater. And only 15 minutes to the Red Wind Casino. There is a railroad track next to the property, but it is only used on Tues. and Thurs. between 10 am and 1 pm when a short train passes by and then returns. Rarely, it may have an additional passing but not often and it has never run after dark or early morning. (It is a military train so pretty punctual). (Also, as we are only a 5 acre property, we are close enough to roads that you may hear some traffic. They are county roads though and not highly traveled for the most part.) **Trigger Warnings: We are near the military base of JBLM and so you will occasionally hear their military doings. Country neighbors occasionally do some target practice, so you may hear some shooting. As we are a horse property, we will also require that you sign a standard release of liability waiver.

The Grove for Tents

100% (3)
Tent site · Sleeps 6
Since we are only accepting one booking at a time, you will have the entire back "Grove" area of the ranch (approx. 2.5 acres of a 5 acre property) for your personal camping experience. This is a peaceful, private, beautiful grove of large tall pines, small trees and ferns with grassy areas in-between and with a central designated campfire area (this is the only area a small fire is permitted). Surrounded by wildlife, listen for Bald Eagles, Hawks and a variety of song birds during the day, and Frogs, Owls and Coyotes at night...as well as the comforting sounds of the horses. Our ranch is a quiet place for you to plan your WA vacation from as we are close to so many local recreation spots as well as close to the lovely small town of Yelm with restaurants, shops, cafes etc. 1 Hour to Mt. Rainier National Park. 1 1/2 hours to Olympia National Park. 2 1/2 hours to Mt. St. Helens. 1 hour to Seattle. Close to Puget Sound and loads of nature spots. Local hiking and fishing can be enjoyed nearby. Our property is surrounded by nature, yet only a 5 minute drive into town where you will find charming shops, restaurants, cafes and coffee houses. There is also a fabulous movie theater. And only 15 minutes to the Red Wind Casino. There is plenty of "free" kindling on the ground, however you must supply your own firewood if you wish to have a fire. There is a 20 amp hook up and water at the back on the barn. There is a porta-potty. There is an outdoor shower shed with heated water. If need be, you may run a generator between the hours of 7 am and 11 pm only. This is a horse property, and as such there are 3 horses in pastures near the camping area. Therefore, you may experience horse sounds (and we do feed quietly in the morning and evening from the barn). We keep the area well cleaned and tidy, however, as the horses do use the Grove area when campers are not here, you may find "horse apples" dispersed throughout. There is also a very friendly barn cat who may come to visit. We have 2 well trained ranch dogs, but they won't run free while you are here. And we also have a small flock of chickens who are cooped at night but free range during the daytime. Our land has great drainage, so you will not be dealing with lots of mud during rainy season. Our land borders a railroad track and there is a military train which runs on it 2 days a week...Tuesdays and Thursdays. It usually runs one direction around 10 am and then back around 1 pm. It will very occasionally run on other days/times but I have never heard it after dark. (Also, as we are only a 5 acre property, we are close enough to roads that you may hear some traffic. They are county roads though and not highly traveled for the most part.) **Trigger Warning: We are near the military base of JBLM and so you will occasionally hear their military doings. You access the campsite by driving onto the property via our gated driveway (with a coded gate) and we will direct you how to gain access to the back wooded camping area by driving across a grassy area where you will go through an additional gate which takes you back behind the barn. The ground is firm grass, fairly level with small bumps and such and there is a large turn around area in the back. Please respect this beautiful property and Leave No Trace. Please keep pets leashed and pick up after them. Please keep music turned down. No illegal drugs, fireworks, guns or archery are allowed. Please read and respect all posted signs. As we are a horse property, we will also require that you sign a standard release of liability waiver. Please feel free to message us with any questions or concerns.
