In 1883 Elliot Cline purchased the acres which once was home to the original New Dungeness. He laid out a town on the bluff above the sandy spit which curves out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Across from the farmhouse used to be a village church, the first county courthouse and the local blacksmith's shop, among other businesses and homes, including two hotels, several stores, and saloons. In 1890 the County Seat was moved to Pt. Angeles and the town swiftly declined. In 1892 the farmhouse was built, and in 1934 the beautiful bow truss barn was built.  A former owner, Mr. Steel, had the barn rebuilt to modern day standards and the new owners use it occasionally for events and art workshops. Tours of the barn are available upon request.Nestle into Mossflower Cottage which sleeps two adults and is a non smoking space with a view of our 1934 Bow Truss Barn.  Should you need a little more space, we can accommodate 1 tent next to the cottage for an additional 2-3 people ($10 per person). (please note there is only one semi private toilet in cabin for all guests). We provide bedding in the cabin at no extra charge. There is running water from our well plus a filter for drinking water, and a hot water kettle. We provide a coffee press, mini fridge and electric skillet.  A flush toilet is in the cottage.  We are a two minute walk to Cline Spit. We've recently added a large deck along with an outside shower. You can kayak to the New Dungeness Lighthouse in your own kayak.  Observe eagle's nest nearby, ride bikes to Dungeness Spit, Sailboard in the bay, enjoy stunning sunrises and sunsets. We are a thirty-forty minute drive to the Olympic National Park, Lake Crescent and very near to the Discovery Trail.  Sequim has many local restaurants which we are happy to recommend, and Nash's Organic Produce is just a couple miles down the road. Lavender farms are within walking distance or a short drive and they're open!  We have firewood if requested for a slight fee. Be sure and ask Rick for a free tour of our barn! Though our 1892 farm house is nearby, you cannot see it from the cottage, but should you need anything, we are happy to help out quickly. Wildlife includes raccoons, deer, eagles, coyotes and hummingbirds who nest in the trees around the cottage.  Just down the road is the Olympic Game Farm. Hope to see you soon!

Absolutely love it!!
Mossflower cottage is such a peaceful welcoming place to land! The cabin itself has everything we needed for the most comfortable stay and Mary Beth & Rick are very helpful & gracious hosts. The bonus were the chickens there to greet us!!

Mossflower Cottage
Mary Beth was a wonderful host, and the little cabin was adorable. It was super hot out during our stay, so she even set up a kiddie pool out on the lawn for our kids, which made our stay infinitely more enjoyable - the kids stayed cool and had something fun to do while we puttered and got dinner ready, etc. We were treated to farm fresh eggs from the companionable chickens. The location was lovely and bucolic with a short walk to the bluff, and then down to the beach. The kids had a tent set up on the deck outside the cabin, which worked just fine. We would definitely stay here again.

Weekend at Mossflower Cottage
We stayed at Mossflower cottage in August. Rick and Mary Beth our wonderful hosts, we enjoyed the well appointed cottage on a farm and nearby renovated barn which is worth the tour by Rick. The cottage included running water with sink, flushing toilet, firepit, queen bed, kitchen utensils, etc. Near Cline spit where you can kayak and see nearby lavendar farms.

Mossflower Cottage
I loved my stay at Mossflower Cottage! Mary Beth and Rick are so kind and hospitable. The cottage was cozy and exactly what I was looking for. The property is beautiful and I loved learning about the history of it during Rick's barn tour. I highly recommend and would definitely stay again!
