Spring Hill Farm is located in rural northwest Hanover County/Caroline County Border on the North Anna River in Virginia. We are between the Cities of Fredericksburg to our north and Richmond to our south. This site had Civil War activity throughout the region, especially along the banks of the North Anna. We are an African American family that has owned this property for 5 generations. My late grandparents instilled in me since when I was young the importance of land stewardship. My mother and I take it very seriously. My husband and I operate a seasonal organic produce farm during the summer months and I make Christmas wreaths during the holiday season. We have approximately 140 acres of wooded acreage (plenty of places to pitch a tent) with a couple of trails, one leading to the North Anna River. Except for the local freight trains, and occasional afternoon target shooting from neighboring properties, it is very quiet and peaceful. Boat ramp about 5 miles away. Walking access to river on site and at county line (1 mile). Local attractions within a 20 mile radius are Sassafras Shade Winery, Kings Dominion Theme Park, Virginia State Fairgrounds, Stonewall Jackson Shrine, Dominion Raceway, North Anna Battlefield, Scotchtown (former home of Patrick Henry), Ashland Berry Farm, and Randolph Macon College. Nearest store for groceries and gas is about 5 minutes away in Chilesburg. 10 miles to fast food and pharmacy. If you are so inclined, you could also have the opportunity to volunteer on an organic farm in the spring and summer months. #1 Bicycle Highway (Verdon Rd./State Rt. 684) less than a mile away. Campsite 2
Great location for privacy and relaxation. Camille welcomed us to the wonderful property and made sure we had everything we needed. We really appreciated that the campsite was on a green, surrounded by woods, and that we had the flexibility to pitch where we wanted to. The amenities were nice (pop-up toilet, benches, and fire pit) and we ordered eggs that were waiting for us on site already. Great view of stars and moon too!

Camille is extremely helpful and communicative; the space is absolutely gorgeous. We camped with 3 kids and a medium sized dog and had plenty of space to run around and explore. Site 1 had shade amongst the trees for tents, a giant meadow, and felt very secluded. Camille provided a wagon but if you have your own to transport gear to the sites (5-8 min walk), it would be helpful. We will for sure be back. .

Must stay!
Camille was an amazing host! Her directions were very detailed and made finding the camping spot a breeze. We stayed at campsite #1 were we had two wonderful choices of setting up our tent under the big night sky or back a bit under the protection of the trees. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring all the property has to offer. I would definitely recommend!

Felt very secluded! She was welcoming when we pulled up and showed us the campsite. Even included a video on how to get there before hand! I liked the makeshift composting toilet, definitely a step up from nothing. Fireplace was great quality. Definitely a good choice of place to stay.

It felt super private. The hike up is the only small downside. We saw multiple deer and the scenery was gorgeous. It was very clean and Camille was very responsive and helpful. I would definitely recommend this campsite!

Wonderful host and idyllic location
Camille was a wonderful host and the property was perfect for some good old fashioned primitive camping with our two young children and dog. We spent a lot of time exploring the property and playing in the North Anna river!

Great stay under the stars
Camille and Spring Hill Farm were so wonderful! We absolutely loved staying on the farm. Coming from the city, it was great to actually be able to see the stars. Camille met us when we arrived and showed us to our campsite and pointed out the various trails we could hike on. We had everything we needed to stay the night and more and our host went above and beyond to help us out when we realized we forgot a lighter! Thanks for having us!

Private, clean, host is great
Camille was away when we arrived but sent easy instructions via text. We were pleasantly surprised to find everything just as the site said it would be plus some. We would happily camp here again.

Gorgeous farm, perfect experience
This farm is an absolute paradise. The campsites are so perfectly secluded and the woods are thick and wild. Camille is a consummate host and I could not have been happier. It’s such a calm and lovely place. I couldn’t recommend it higher.

We had a great time on Spring Hill Farm! Camille met us and helped bring some of our supplies to camp while giving us a bit of history and explaining where the available trails were and how to access them. The site was about 10 minutes or less from the parking area and the path was lovely. You walk by a pond and around an open field to get to a site at the edge of the woods. There was another camper at the other site but we would have never known it if she hadn't let us know. The first day and night was beautiful with a nearly full moon! The next day was a bit rainy but we still enjoyed our time there. There's a grocery store and restaurants about 17 minutes from camp if you need it. I would recommend Camille's property to anyone who wants some private time in nature accompanied by a chorus of chirps and tweets from birds and buggies.

This was my first time using hipcamp and I was not disappointed. The host Camille was extremely welcoming and ensured we knew where we were going and made sure the site was prepared. The land was beautiful, spacious and was exactly as it was depicted in the description. Would love to camp there again.

Amazing! First hipcamp experience and it couldn’t have been better. Camille was an amazing host and provided a ton of great information for us. The location was perfect! Secluded, easy to get to, and had the best view of the stars at night. The site itself was so great and had a TON of space. Would definitely come back here again and highly recommend staying here.

Awesome for biking, hiking and just enjoying nature. We couldn’t find the river but hopefully we can on the next time we come around!

Camille was an amazing hostess! Her property is beautiful, secluded, and well kept. We were the only guests for the weekend, and we could not have asked for a better experience. She was thorough with directions and happily greeted us to show us around the farm (with her dog Fluffy, too!). Her setup is thoughtful and we did not want for anything. The campsite is about a ten minute walk from where we parked, and we made the trek back and forth to store our things before bed as bears are a possibility. We enjoyed the fire pit, the trails, and the lightning bug show we got to see! Overall a perfect relaxing weekend. Thanks Camille!

A large property with plenty of privacy. I recently went camping here with my wife and six young children. The site was well maintained, and included a picnic table, a metal fir ring, and a compost toilet. There is plenty of space and options for where to pitch your tent(s). There are mosquitos in the area (normal for this region in Summer), but a mosquito repellant lantern and a campfire gave us plenty of reprieve. Camille, the camp host, stopped by the camp site on the evening of our arrival to welcome us and answer any questions we may have had. We enjoyed learning about the property and its history while speaking with Camille. We all felt safe in the area, and the kids had a good time running around and exploring. I would highly recommend Spring Hill Farm.
