We are a private family farm and animal rescue offering quiet, peaceful, comfortable pet friendly vacation rentals near Grayson Highlands State Park! We have different options to fit every person's needs and budget from Glamping, RV Hookups, Tiny Homes, Barn Apartments to Cabins! Located in the Appalachian Mountains of SW Virginia. Temperate Climate, Quaint Towns, National Parks & Breathtaking Views. Only a few miles from Grayson Highlands State Park and Mount Rogers National Recreational Area you will discover Rugby Creek, a 63-acre mountain retreat. We have private rentals on our working horse farm and non-profit animal rescue. Whether biking the Virginia Creeper Trail, canoeing/tubing the New River, hiking Grayson Highlands State Park/Appalachian Trail, or choosing a personally guided horseback ride amongst the wild pony herds, at the end of the day let nature call you home as you drift to sleep with the night serenade of crickets and frogs. Located only a few miles from Grayson Highlands State Park, and nearby Mt. Rogers Nat’l Wilderness Area, Whitetop Mountain, The New River and The Virginia Creeper Trail, there is so much to do! We are offering an electric/water hookup and camping spot near our horse stable which is located on our horse and rescue farm. There are no bathroom or shower facilities available for campers so it’s best if you bring an RV, trailer or truck tent. Great views of the horse pastures. Animals all around the barn area. Great location for quiet evenings and a good night rest after a great day exploring the area.  We do have Wifi at the Horse stable (though strength and speed vary). You can also bring your own horse, additional fees apply. Dogs MUST BE ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES and CANNOT BE LOUD! We have precious farm animals and cats at the barn. Your dog is allowed but must be inside your camper/tent or by your side at all times!

Quiet Seclusion! If you are looking for a few nights to escape the reality of the fast-paced life to recharge and reset yourself, then the Gypsy Wagon is for you. Under 90 sq ft, it is definitely a Tiny Home, but this little Wagon was custom designed to be as spacious and open to nature as possible. It has a raised center ceiling with nautical windows that let in great light and make standing comfortable even for those who are tall. In the evenings, there are lights tucked into the pine woodwork that set off the inside with a peaceful glow. Features a Double Sized bed with a very comfortable mattress, small mini-split system with AC/Heat, small coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave. NOTE - There is no bathroom facility; however, a short walk down the path is a private port-a-jon. NO Shower Facility. Outside is a deck with table, chairs and a gas grill. Limited phone service and wifi - disconnect central! The location of the Wagon is tucked into the woods privately and is bordered by a horse pasture. You may occasionally hear horses, donkeys, dogs, a diesel truck or tractor. Come Stay at the Gypsy Wagon tucked into the woods at Rugby Creek!

Experience Tiny Home living Pondside! Enjoy amazing nature sounds, star gazing and pastoral horse farm views! It is located only a few miles from Grayson Highlands State Park which is known for its vistas and wild ponies. Take time to explore Mount Rogers National Wilderness area, The Appalachian Trail, The Virginia Creeper Trail and The New River. Close to wonderful restaurants, breweries and quaint towns. The Pondside Tiny Home features hardwoods, queen bed is in the living area with 2 side seating areas, full bathroom with walk-in shower, a Smart TV and Wifi access and it has a mini split Heat/AC. The kitchenette is stocked with basic needs to prepare meals and has a coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave, toaster and two burner hot plate. Outside on the deck (overlooking the Pond) is a gas grill with patio table and chairs. The yard is spacious and has a fire pit area to enjoy. Yes we are pet-friendly. Pets are to be kept on a leash at all times when outside the rental. You must take your pet with you when you leave the rental, they are never to be left inside unattended. *No pet fees* We love hosting your furbaby! Guest Access: • The Tiny Home and its yard, deck, parking, outdoor seating/fire pit are all privately yours to enjoy. • The tiny home sits RIGHT ON THE PONDSIDE so you can also enjoy the pond views, sounds and watching the fish (NO fishing or swimming/wading allowed). We do provide a lifesaving buoy in case of emergency. • The Pond area is shared with another rental, the Gypsy Wagon, but it is located on the opposite side of the pond so that you and the guests at the Wagon each have a very private setting. Other Things to Note: • This Tiny Home is built to host two people max in a shared queen bed • We also have Overnight Run-In Sheds and stalls so you can BRING YOUR OWN HORSE (for additional fee) - or there are Horse Rental Rides nearby. • Quiet time is 10pm-7am • This is a working farm, and you may occasionally hear horses, donkeys, dogs, and farm equipment.

The driveway is shared and she loves to interact if you wish or you can be as private as you would like. Though she’s great at giving farm tours! Your tiny home trailer is submersed in nature tucked into the woods. Our mom’s miniature goats chickens and rescue sheep are fun to observe as well.

We stayed at the horse barn RV hookup. The facility was wonderful. We were surrounded by rescue animals and had the pleasure of playing with the litter of puppies on the premise; a highlight of the trip for my boys. The host was kind and gave us a tour of the farm including the mountain top cabin with beautiful views (including a rainbow). We were close to many parks and trails which we enjoyed. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a peaceful mountain stay.

My son loved being on the farm! We were surrounded by wildlife, beautiful rolling hills, and a very nice breeze. We saw puppies, cats, pigs, chickens, and horses. Everyone we encountered was very nice and accommodated us in every way they could. Very close to Grayson Highlands, which we visited twice during our visit.

Soak in the surrounds and be AMAZED

A warm welcome for a late night arrival. Everything was perfectly setup to make us feel at home in an instant. The magic really begins when upon morning light when we could soak in the surrounds and be AMAZED! Beauty is every you can see and that's just the start. This is a real working farm with rescue animals and they are something to behold. When it was feeding time we met the host who couldn't have been nicer and was happy to answer the toughest of questions consisting of what are the animal's names - some of them are celebrities in their own right. Explore the grounds, make some animal friends, enjoy and repeat. Whatever stress you may have come with dissolves in an instant.

Pondside Tiny Home Grayson Highland
Loved our stay! The cabin is great. It is well stocked with kitchen supplies and bedding. The fridge was big (for a mini fridge) and has a separate freezer portion. The smart TV worked well and internet was really fast. We enjoyed a fire in the metal pit one night. The deck with patio furniture was a nice place to enjoy the view over the pond. It is on a farm rescue so there were animals in surrounding fenced areas. It was nice to watch them, especially the mini horse, Flame, as he had a funny personality. We stayed 3 nights and it was very quiet, even during the day. The people living there were close by but didn't bother you if you didn't want company. I'd love to stay again. It's a great place to get away and relax.

The gypsy wagon home was perfect for our trip! My kids loved the puppies and everything was clean. We enjoyed a fire a night and it was like we had the whole place to ourselves. We will definitely come back to stay.

Beautiful, peaceful and restful place to stay, surrounded by animals of all kinds. Easy pull in and hook up. Very friendly staff. I highly recommend this farm as an out-of-the-way getaway. You won’t regret it!

We absolutely loved our stay at rugby creek, it was the quiet get away that we needed. I loved being able to walk the farm and check out all of the beautiful animals. We can't wait to come back and bring the dogs to stay in the house. Such a peaceful, beautiful place. It was also so close to Grayson's highlands which made it super easy to go hike there!

We have stayed at Gypsy Wagon a couple times and will keep coming back. You will not find a more accommodating offering. It not only offers a simple, clean, comfortable place to stay that has everything you need for a short or long visit. The private setting is truly unique that you do not often find. The location provides close access to amenities such as trout fishing in a half dozen different streams both in Virginia and North Carolina. The Grayson Highlands area is also available for you to explore. Bring your favorite meal to grill and be prepared to enjoy the night stares over a campfire.

What a beautiful place this space was, the land and the tiny home. The tiny home was very comfortable with having the heat being a great bonus. We were able to cook anything we had with the amenities available. The farm was beautiful and the stars at night were incredible. We would highly recommend staying here, even in cooler weather!

Wow what an incredible spot. We came to visit Grayson Highlands but pretty sure my kids were most in love with all the animals at Rugby’s instead. My two year old did not want to leave! The wagon had everything we needed for a comfortable two night stay. The wagon is about a 50 meter walk from the parking area which helps it be private but if you have a lot to carry it’s worth noting.

It was a great last minute reservation and we were very pleased with the accommodations. The farm animals were amazing and just what we needed at the last minute. We really hope to stay again someday soon. Ashley even brought us some goat milk out one morning and it was incredible. The trail behind the campsite was a nice touch. This place is more than just a campsite it is an experience.

This was the perfect place to stay if you want to be near Grayson Highlands. It's a very pretty area, the gypsy wagon was the perfect place to sleep and stash my things while I explored the trails. Would definitely recommend and I plan on coming back!

The Gypsy Wagon was even better than expected. It is perfect for two people looking to get away and spend some quiet alone time together. Waking up to the views of the mountains, horses, and pond is something we wish we could see every morning. The Gypsy Wagon has all the essentials and more. We enjoyed a day hiking and walking along side the ponies at Grayson Highlands. We drove 5 hours each way for this 2 night stay and we would do it again without questioning. Only thing that I wished was different, is that we could’ve stayed longer. We have already recommended this to a plethora of people. We hope to visit Ashley and the horses again in the future!

such a cute place!! The tiny home came fully furnished with bedding, towels, and basic kitchen appliances and dishware. We enjoyed visiting the animals and fed them apples from the tree outside the tiny home. highly, highly recommend!

Amazing stay, great location! The Gypsy Cabin had everything we could possibly need. The whole farm operation is arranged around rescue animals, giving homes to horses, pigs, goats, donkeys, barn cats. I can’t say enough how impressive and full of love this place is!

The horse barn hookup is awesome! Ashley met us on arrival and was very friendly and helpful in showing us where to park and hookup. As they are an active rescue farm, there are lots of horses around in various barns or pastures, which we just loved! The site itself is secluded on the backside of the barn, and while there is a neighboring house visible, it felt quite private. Also, the landscape will make you feel like you've been teleported to Scotland - steep green hills surrounding a winding valley. Even with overcast and rainy weather the views from the site were beautiful. The power and water hookups were easy to access, and there was even a little patio with a table and chairs connected to the barn next to the site that was perfect for relaxing so we didn't have to setup our canopy, tables, or chairs. The parking spot was gravel, not grass, which was important after Eta dumped rain on us for hours the day before we had to leave. We had no problem with traction getting in or out. There are some pretty tight winding roads with decent grades getting to the farm from either direction, but if you take your time and know your setup, it's not bad (if I can get a 6000lb 25ft trailer there with a Tacoma, you can get your trailer there :P). This is a wonderful place to stay, and while we didn't get as much hiking as we'd have liked due to the tropical storm passing by during our trip, there were good breweries down in West Jefferson that Ashley recommended. Overall, this was one of our favorite hipcamps.

Lovely place and experience! Friendly horses, goats, chickens, and barn cats may keep you company in this slice of mountain heaven. Very quiet and peaceful. Trails up the mountain to explore. Gorgeous views everywhere. Hosts are so nice and very helpful. We arrived in the dark, but the hosts had provided turn by turn instructions and was actually watching for us and flashed the lights of her vehicle to ensure we didn’t miss the drive. I’ll definitely be back!
