Jeanie's place is now among our favorite Hipcamp spots. The premium site is incredibly well-maintained, private, and overlooks a lovely meadow. Our dog loved being able to explore the sights, sounds, and smells off-leash. Looking forward to our next visit!

We had a great time! Very clean, plenty of fire wood, and power-that’s the trifecta! Definitely no Google maps in this area, so make sure you download the photos. From the light in Independence, it is 5.8 miles to the left on to Big Ridge Rd, then 3.8 miles to Possum Creek Ranch. It is a little narrow, so just be aware if you fridge and/or stove pull out like our does.

I spent 3 nights in campsite 2 over Labor Day weekend in a tent. This is a great base camp for hiking around Mount Rogers Recreational Area if you want to avoid the crowds. The 2 campsites are far enough apart and there is enough vegetation between the 2 so you can’t see each other. The outhouse is clean and there is hand sanitizer provided. There is a good stock and variety of firewood that is very reasonably priced (cash or CashApp.) There is also a horseshoe pitch! Definitely download your maps, there is no service in most of the area! This weekend the meadow and down by the creek were full of wildflowers attracting many butterflies and hummingbirds. Overall, this was a great spot for my new dog’s first camping trip!

We loved the site once we found it. Deer visited us twice while we were having coffee in the morning. Very beautiful, natural and secluded. We had a little trouble finding it mostly because we didn't make the specific instructions available off line on our phones or devices. Our GPS navigation took us down the wrong road (the one shared with the host's driveway.) Look for the hand painted wood sign with an O-Possum on it. This is the driveway to take. Once we figured out where the campsites were located we were thrilled. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to go off grid and off line for a while.
There is a lovely creek that winds through close by which provides a peaceful babbling background. The outhouse is perfect. We allowed our labradoodle to run loose as there were no other campers or people around, at all. The nearby country road is not busy enough to cause noise or danger. There is self serve firewood available for a very reasonable fee (we brought our own but didn't need to.)
We enjoyed listening to Barred Owls, Red Eyed Vireos, Carolina Chickadees, Mourning Doves, Gray Catbirds, Grey Crested Gnat catchers, Tufted Titmouse, Indigo Bunting, Chipping Sparrows, Common Yellowthroats, Field Sparrows,... Merlin Bird ID app.

We arrived just before a giant rainstorm and ran into Jeanie as she was getting another site ready for fellow hipcampers. The site was beautiful, the outhouse was super cute and well stocked. The rain kept us trucking bound but we got to enjoy some wildlife from the rear window which our dog thoroughly enjoyed. We would absolutely stay here again!

We had a great stay at this campsite! The sites were spacious, well-prepped, and easy to access. We loved the firepit (even though we used our gas one due to the rain), and appreciated the reasonably priced firewood available on-site. The electric hookup was a big plus, and the nearby creek added a nice touch to the peaceful surroundings. The outhouse was impressively clean and odor-free. While there's no potable water or cell service, we knew that ahead of time and came prepared. If water were available, it would’ve been perfect. The hosts were hands-off but clearly put effort into maintaining the area. Would definitely recommend!

This was hands-down the best HipCamp we’ve ever stayed at—and we’ve visited quite a few! Before our trip, I reached out to the host with a few questions, and they replied promptly. The directions provided were clear and made finding the site super easy. Once we arrived, we were impressed—the site was spacious, spotless, and even better than advertised.
The picnic table, fire ring, and outhouse were all in excellent condition and very clean. There was plenty of chopped firewood available for purchase (via Cash App or cash), which was super convenient. We especially loved the little creek nearby—it was the perfect spot to soak our feet after a full day of hiking at Grayson Highlands.
One tip: download your map in advance, as there’s no cell service in the area. The host does provide a WiFi password you can use near their home, but it’s really just for sending the occasional text—which we actually loved. It gave us the chance to truly unplug and unwind.
If you need supplies, the town of Independence is about 20 minutes away and has a grocery store and a few restaurants.
All in all, we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. We’ll absolutely be recommending this site to friends—and we’re already looking forward to coming back. Honestly, there’s not a single thing we’d change!

The site was very quiet. Went to sleep overcast woke up to sooo many stars. Jeanie was very responsive. Her suggestion to download the map was on point. This is a great place to disconnect .

Loved staying here. The area was beutiful clean and quiet. We stayed at site 1. Site 2 was closed by but the way it was layed out it still gave a lot of privacy.
The fire wood was also near by and there was a lot, there is a little cash box next to the wood to pay so it was avery easy transaction.
The owner was very kind and sweet she made sure we had enough fire wood and brought us more when it got low.

Gorgeous! Perfect spot for last minute camping on our trip. Loved the Creek 💕 Make sure to get your gps programmed before you run out of service, there is wifi by the house for your departure!

Cute and quiet little place. My kids enjoyed the little stream and we had a great time roasting marshmallows at the campfire. I’d recommend this to any of my biker friends that are looking for an easy place to set up camp.

Jeanie's campsite was exactly what we needed after a 30 mile backpacking trip in Grayson Highlands. We used "instant book" to book the same day and Jeanie welcomed us with a smile, warm hospitality, and some free firewood. Woo!
This site is spacious and flat with tons of room to spread out. It's also a perfect spot for stargazing! Be sure to check out the nude beach on the property. ;)

The spot was perfect! The only thing is you do not have cell reception there, but other than that it was a nice piece of property and you get to be one with nature. Will definitely go back.

The route in was narrow and steep. A little too long and precarious for a trailer. The grass areas was not great. Sharp farm debris and thorny branches. The electric was not grounded so we could not use it.

Very private, peaceful, and remote. We had excellent temperatures, the firewood was well stocked, and the area was well kept. Would stay here again if my travels take me in this area in the future. Just be aware that this area doesn’t have much, if any cell signal, and it’s best suited for those that prefer primitive camping.

This is by far my new favorite camp site! Jeanie’s land is beautiful, clean, and quiet. It’s the perfect weekend escape. My husband and I camped in our van with our dog. The stars were breathtaking at night. The field and sunshine gorgeous during the day. I recommend booking!

This was a great little private camp spot that was perfect for us and our two dogs. Plenty of room to spread out and roam a bit and the little creek was a great plus! It was a bit out of the way from our adventuring (Grayson highlands) but the drive is too pretty to really knock it for that. There is a firewood provided and the outhouse was a nice convenience for such a primitive camp site. Definitely recommend!
