Pond Haven
My stay was everything I could have hoped for and even more beautiful than pictured
I had everything I needed and could want for. To name a few, Suzanne provides filtered water, a camping burner, a tea kettle, two sets of dishware, a bin of outdoorsy necessities, a lantern, interesting books to pass the time and rocking chairs.
The composting toilet was super easy and convenient to have. The bed was very comfortable and situated in just the right spot to gaze out one of the many windows and listen to the nature noises. The space leaves you feeling so so calm and serene.
If you can't wait and want to come before the weather warms up, I would suggest bringing layers and extra blankets since the window are screen only. I am sure there is a lovely cross breeze during summer!
As someone else said, this is right on a long driveway next to Suzanne's house, but honestly, I felt so safe and cozy there and did not ever feel intruded upon. It felt like the best of both worlds; beautiful nature and a neighbor across the way. Suzanne did say she is working on putting blinds up for privacy. Suzanne was wonderful and hospitable and even offered to show me some hiking trails.
I could not recommend this space more. I hope to return some day and if you are considering it, I would absolutely book it for a one of a kind, calming, and grounding experience.
Thanks, Suzanne!

Amazing retreat!
This was an adventurous treat retreat with my 3 yr old grand daughter. The large comfortable & open cabin in the trees gave us the feel of camping outdoors but with much more comfort. Thank you Suzanne for your wonderful hospitality!

Welcoming
Suzanne’s Pond Haven was adorable and had all the amenities we needed for our short stay. We arrived late and she greeted us and explained the compost toilet. We hiked McAfee Knob early the next morning and it was dark when we arrived and left but th sounds of nature were perfect. Wonderful place to rest your head and relax.

Comfort of home in camp like env’t
Pond Haven is a rustic retreat with the most essential comforts of home. Hidden just beyond a residential area it had the joys of nature with foliage, fauna, critters, and all the noises that come with them. They lulled us to sleep and awoke us just the same. Suzanne was gracious and joyful, sharing her passion for the Roanoke area. We also had the special treat of enjoying a stroll along the blue ridge parkway, just a short distance away, due to the closure of a small section.

Pond Haven
We had a great stay at Pond Haven! The cabin itself is really beautiful, great amenities, and surrounded by trees. Suzanne was a fantastic host that made sure we were comfortable and entertained, even showing my son a creek that runs through the woods. The place had a really calming vibe that was great after traveling for a week.
One thing that I would mention is that while the cabin is surrounded by trees, it is not as private as I had thought. It is situated on a driveway in a neighborhood with no coverings for the windows. This was not a big problem as I felt safe and trusted Suzanne, but know that the cabin is not in the middle of the woods.
Overall, a well designed and welcoming place to stay!

Great Cabin & Great Hostess
Pulling into the cabin it was so beautiful, tucked away in the mountains in a very serene spot. The cabin had the cutest porch, which Suzanne had decorated with chairs and some handy lanterns. The inside the cabin was very simple- a cute bed with some clean sheet, a drink and tableware station (with clean drinking water), some very interesting books, and the compostable toilet. The hostess Suzanne was absolutely wonderful, very welcoming and provided us with some great knowledge about the area. Her property is a stunning and peaceful spot that I would recommend to anyone looking for a Blue Ridge mountain get away. Unfortunately my fiancé and I could not spend the whole weekend there as our bunny child was getting overheated (he’s a drama Queen). We’re definitely excited to come back in the fall!

Loved!
Absolutely loved Suzanne's cabin! So cute and peaceful. Has everything you need, even a stove and french press to make coffee. Great breeze and enjoyed listening to the frogs by the pond. Would have loved to spend more time there and chat. Suzanne was incredibly kind and accommodating.

I want to stay here forever!
OMG, this little cabin is so incredibly delightful. I’m sorry We’re only here one night. Suzanne has made a little screen house feel like boho luxury! We loved listening to the birds at dusk and dawn. I went down the steps to the sweet pond and sat in a chair as I sipped the coffee we made in our cabin. The best is comfy and there’s a gorgeous gliding chair and rocking chair.
It really is a little haven - and it’s just a couple hundred yards from the section of the blue ridge parkway that is closed right now, so it’s a perfect walking path!
